I travelled as 1 in a party of 7 which meant we had booked 3 rooms....on arrival only 1 was ready....the second was ready 2 hours later and the 3rd over 3 hours after our arrival...like the previous person mentioned the rooms with 3 beds was made up of 1 camp bed....ours had half the slats broken and literally touchin the floor...we asked for replacement...when we checked it they had just fixed the same bed badly which broke again but we used that way in the end! the cleanliness of the hotel was very good...the food was a nice selection .. not always cooked correctly..the dinner hall is a bit of a free for all..tables not cleared whilst u eat.. very messy and unorganised..the hotel is in a great position very close to the beach, shops and night life... just a great shame that the staff are soooo unhelpful..unfriendly...miserable and never smile. In my opinion of benidorm itself they r very anti the english...very sad when u want to enjoy a holiday that you have saved all year for! during our stay my aunts finger got shut in a toilet door by another holiday maker due to no locks on the toilet door and the top of her finger was hanging off....an ambulance was called ...it arrived 45 mins later....they then took her to a medical centre...didnt look at her finger for over 4 hours until we had got a number of taxis to and from the clinic to produce her travel insurace...after looking at it they said we needed a main hospital they pointed at the exit and told us to call a taxi...after speakin to some of the english performers they said they dont like helping the english...if it was anything life threating u would not make it out there! it was 6 hours before my aunt recieved any treatment...they refused to numb the area and told her to come back the following day for pain killers...absolutly disgusted me!!
its a very sexual town...its ok but kids must b out of bars by 1am due to live strip shows! happy hours only include local spirits...which i thought was fine until i tried them and realised gin.vodka. both taste of cheap pernod...whisky very strange the only local spirit i would recommend is the peach schnapps!! most of the local bars are good and welcomin...highly recommend jokers and the loch ness....avoid the red lion like the plague...very rude staff :-(

Reception staff and check in process, very efficient. Rooms on arrival, spotlessly clean but went downhill after that, the minimum amount of cleaning was done, we had a sandy floor for well over a week. As we were going to have to put our 3 girls in one room, we did ask whether there would be 3 proper beds and not a camp bed. We were
assured the room was big enough for 3 proper beds, we arrived to find a camp bed as the 3rd bed which was extremely uncomfortable, we complained and the mattress was
changed twice for something a little more comfortable. The air conditioning in the rooms was totally useless. We had an awful smell in our bathroom too, the smell seemed to come up from the plug holes, we complained about this and they sent up
a man with a can of air freshener !!!!
The biggest disappointment was the evening entertainment, great if you are 5 years old, a very child friendly programme of entertainment, but absolutely nothing for adults whatsoever. All the bars were closed by 1.00 am too !! The agent we booked through said this hotel had a fantastic entertainment programme, something for everyone of all ages, our party was aged between 16 and 51, there was nothing for any of us.
Pool was lovely, the grounds surrounding it well maintained.
The food....... The Ocas, for all inclusive guests was closed (we were half board) so
we were all crammed into the Pelicanos dining room, it was like feeding time at the zoo.
The staff just couldnt keep up with clearing and resetting the tables. The was no one
to supervise the food sections and I saw a child with her hands in the jelly and some other 'goo'. This particular child had also sneezed over the food. The choice of food was good, but it was often over cooked or just luke warm. One night the food was all so
appalling we walked out in disgust.
Despite all this the weather was good and we managed to enjoy our holiday. I would not return to the Sol Pelicanos/Ocas nor would I recommend it.

Warning!! All-inclusive at this hotel does NOT mean All-inclusive .You can only use the bar inside Ocas hotel and restaurant for free. You can use Pelicanos facilities but if you want a free drink or fancy a snack you will have to go all the way back to the Ocas hotel to get it for free or pay again at Pelicanos bars.Shame cause the pool area at the Pelicanos is lovely. The pool-bar where you can sit in the pool and have a drink was closed too....was used to put black bags of rubbish for day then collected up when pool area cleared for day..strange.Room was basic with only one free socket the other was in bathroom directly below hand wash dispenser so was in wrong position to use... Beers in small glasses not allowed to put them in tall glasses by managers instructions and to be honest alcohol seemed a bit weak. Breakfast was very good loads of choice...lunch and evening meals where poor . So on reflection if you want a four day holiday and want a good central location then its perfect .... but wouldn't recommend this hotel unless on bed and breakfast only.
Ideal for stag and hen party's.When you are all-inclusive you should be able to have a drink and food anywhere in the premises for free ...false advertising..good luck

This hotel has a brilliant location, good for beach, shopping, eating and entertainment. It is such a shame about the quality of the food for the evening meal. There is plenty of choice at breakfast, we were half board so I cannopt comment on lunch, but the evening meal was a big let down. There is only so much salad you can eat. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I do think that they should stick to their dress code for the evening meal. Ours was spoilt by males and females turning up drunk in shorts and flip flops, no t-shirts, girls in bikinis. The pool area is brilliant, but unfortunately is only accessible by steps. One of our party is a wheelchair user, but we managed. The rooms are roomy, but the balconies are small. Overall, if we had gone B&B it would have been brilliant. Would stay again, but only B&B. You can eat out extremely cheap.

just arrived back from the hotel ocas /sister to the pelicanos
the hotel was very good we went as a family of three
the rooms were very clean and had regular maid service the only down to the rooms is that to hire a fridge ,30euros for the week , which should be included
the food was very good and lots of choices for every one
the pools were very good and clean with plenty of sun beds
now the bad points , to buy a drink in the hotel you need a bank loan , very expensive the first nite i ordered a whisky and coke 6 euros 30 , that was the last one , also kids ice cream very expensive , the entertainment was dross that showed by the entertainers playing to nobody
everyone had left for cheaper drinks and better entertainment, apart fom that a good hotel but would be better if fully inclusive was offerd, it would stop al the guests sneaking the booze in

We had two weeks here at the end of May/beginning of June. We picked it because of the kids club and the fabulous pool area, which is used in the ITV series Benidorm. Both of these were great - although the pool bar wasn't open so early in the season, which was a shame.
But inside our room, it was boiling hot and the staff at reception didn't seem interested when we told them the air-con wasn't working. We later discovered they don't switch it on until July, as they don't consider the weather to be warm until then.
My sons, who are 20 months and 4 years old, were put to bed in only nappies, with no blankets on, and were roasting. The baby woke throughout the night, gasping for a drink. If we opened the doors to the balcony, mosquitoes came in, not to mention the noise from the entertainment outside.
And it was only after 11 days of complaining to the manager (when temperatures reached 27c) that the hotel turned on our air-con for the last 3 days. It made a huge difference, and if we'd had this throughout, I'd be giving the holiday a much higher rating.
The food was disgusting. The restaurant was like a self-service canteen, and on more than one occasion we picked fish or meat that was raw in the middle. The scrambled eggs at breakfast were made from powdered egg. The chicken was greasy, and the plates were dirty. Despite going half-board, we decided to eat out after the first week.
As I previously said, the kids club was great. My son went every day from 11am-1pm. Later in the afternoon, there was an extra charge for the kids club, so we didn't bother. The entertainment staff worked very hard, and were often doing the evening cabaret/bingo/mini disco. I couldn't fault them.
And the pool was terrific. People reserved sunbeds with their towels quite a bit, but it is such a big area that you could always find somewhere free.
A fridge in your room costs 5 euros a day, as does the use of the safe in your wardrobe.
While I'd go back to Benidorm again (I liked the nightlife, and there was a lot for kids to do), I wouldn't stay at the Pelicanos.
The staff were generally uninterested, and it was only when we spoke to a manager called Tamara that we got any help (she arranged for air-con on our last few days).
Unless you're going in July, and you've got a cast iron stomach, avoid this place like the plague!

This hotel has only one thing going for it....Its position.
The food is exceptionally poor.
The building is run down and shabby.
If you want a hair dryer, you have to go to reception and hire one for 30 Euros, the same as a the TV remote control.
On checking in, we were asked which floor we wanted to be on....Hey, we thought "What a great place", but after that, everything was down hill.
I told the Thomson rep about the Union flag being flown up-side down. When she expressed surprise and didn’t realise it could be.
She checked on the internet, found out which way up it should be flown, saw the reception, but nothing was done to put it right, showing complete disregard for our flag and country. (The reception did say that they would do it sometime).
Food wise....The vegetables were only luke warm, soaking in water. The meat was hard and over cooked. The chefs' looked completely bored and couldn't be bothered. A small bottle of SEMI-chilled water was 1.60 Euros.
The beds need replacing badly, the one pillow was flat. The TV had buttons broken, so it was difficult to use. No Sky News channel, only Bloomberg and CNN together with BBC World news.
The entertainment shows were amateurish and third rate..
The stage was hard to see after the first 3 rows.
We have just entered our 60's, but this hotel was geared up for people in their 80's.
We were out on the town most nights, but, had trouble finding places open who catered for young, lively minded people. The comedians who were about, were coarse and used the "F" word in front of children as young as 8.
Benidorm has gone down hill from its hey day.
Fortunately we were only there for a week.

We returned home from a 2 week stay at the Pelicanos on Tuesday (29th) and after reading very mixed reviews about it before we travelled I was apprehensive to say the least, but I had stayed there previously, albeit a long time ago and remember only the positives. Our party consisted of myself, my husband and my 23 month old son. We all had an excellent time and would return at the first available opportunity. What has prompted me to write this review is the mixed opinions about this hotel and whilst everyone is entitled to theirs... I do think that a lot of the moaning is unjust and felt I needed to voice my own opinion! The hotel is beautiful and recently modernised/renovated with new decor in the bedrooms. The food is excellent and has a vast selection. I can honestly say in the 2 weeks that we stayed there I never put a single thing on my plate that wasn't piping hot! The service from reception, bars and restaurant staff was good. The pool areas cannot be faulted. The location of the hotel is spot on by being so close to the beach, shops and amenities. On the 4th floor we didn't encounter any noise at night from bars etc. Although my son was a bit young for the Flintstones Club he joined in with the Mini Disco and was welcomed with open arms. He also loved the play area. We travelled with Thomsons/First Choice and the rep at our hotel was Sarah. She was great, very friendly and I honestly felt would have done anything to enhance our stay. Well done Sol Pelicanos - we're definitely be coming back to see you soon.

Just got back from SolPelicanos A/I. Food, hotel, Rooms and staff Brill. Right then. You cant have snacks at the pool bar??? You have to go to the restraunt for any kind of food. Unless you pay for it. You cant have any sort of drink or food in the bar downstairs. Unless you pay for it. So if it happens to rain and you av to stay inside i dont have a clue where you would get the free drinks as they only serve them outside. For A/I. Also if ur A/I they serve you with half glasses. you can however have as many as you like. If you want a pint you have to pay for it. Just under 4 euros a pint. Strongbow that is mind. If ur A/I you can av it for 2.65 euros.Shows r ok. nobody goes down early to put towels on beds and you can get a bed any time of day. Bar shuts at 12 Prompt. Rooms clean and food and staff were brill. Although there were people who didnt think much of the food/??????????????? All in all i and the other 6 of us ad a BRILL time. Any Questions feel free to ask and you will get an honest answer as i see it.
