Especially good for all year sunshine
Returned from Cay Beach Princess Bungalows October 2007, weather was 25 - 28 degrees. Lovely. Having been to Maspolomas many times over the years and have stayed in some below average accomodation we found that Cay Beach Princess was very clean, (no cochroaches) dispite having some very small ants in the bedroom which we reported to reception, they acted immediately and apologised also gave us another bungalow to stay in, all in all the bungalows were very clean, and I think the complex is ideal for families, good facilities for children of all ages, the only draw back was it was a good 20 minute walk to the Faro 2 shopping centre but cabs are very cheap approx 3 euros, Was surprised that we had to pay extra for air conditioning as Thomsons when we booked said there was no hidden extras (check this out). The pool bar was very reasonable and the food was good, staff also quite friendly. The Tomsons rep Ross was very helpfull as I had toothache for most of our holiday and had to consult a Dentist which cost me 70 euros plus medication the dentist was excellent, be warned, check your travel insurance as there was a a £50 excess on my policy. Would definately go back again. P.S. When booking at this complex make sure you look at the accomodation offered because some bungalows are quite small

I have just returned from a week at the cay beach princess with my boyfriend. We are in our early 20's. I would not recommened it to this age group. It was very clean and well kept. I didn't find the reception staff very helpful. The last day we wanted to keep our room on, as check out time was 12. we wasn't being picked up until 7 for the airport. The lady at the reception just said no we need the room, she was very blunt and not apologetic. She also didnt tell us there was a courtesy room where we could shower we find out off another couple who were on our coach by this time it was too late. We bathed by the pool all that day we could view our bungalow all day and nobody had entered it by the time we had left so i felt we could of kept the room on for the afternoon. We were very dishearted. We had to get a taxi everywhere which wasn't a problem but when you add all the fares up it was roughly 70euros just on that. The bungalow walls are vert thin you could hear everything next door was watching on the tv.I would only recommened this place to families
I loved it
I stayed at Cay Beach princess Bugalows in Aug 06 and it was a really nice place. The pool was massive and there were plenty of sunbeds. The bungalows were really nice and clean and maids came in everyday. The pool side bar was nice for small snacks like burgers and chips but i never ate in the main restaurant. The only downside was the location but taxis are very cheap to playa de ingles or maspalomas beach. Also the weather was really hot at this time of the year reached 45degrees.
Great Holiday
Just come back from 10 nts at the Cay Beach Princess and had a wonderful time. We were a bit concerned by the reviews we read before we went but were pleasantly surprised. We were allocated one of the bigger bungalows and had plenty of space for 2 people. The bungalow itself was well furnished and had been thoroughly cleaned before arrival. Kitchen was basic but had what was needed for self catering, had fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle and hobs (although couldn't get our hobs to work). A/C in bedroom only and it's 6 euros a day, but we didn't need it as room was fairly cool in the evening. We had the dinner buffet in the restaurant which was nice and hot, with a good selection, however breakfast buffet was very poor, we were the first in there and it was cold. Didn't eat in the restaurant again after that. The pool is amazing, although a little cold when you first get in. Never had to fight for a sunbed. Pool bar had a good selection and very reasonable. Small supermarket next door which had all the essentials and cheaper than the supermarket at Faro 2. Faro 2 is only a ten min walk with loads of lovely restaurants and a couple of bars. Our top 3 restaurants were Cho Juanillo Steak House, Pizzeria Piz Paz and Lucky Luke Tex Mex, all 3 were good value and large portions!! Aqualand is a must! Had a fantastic day, would definiately go there again. We booked our tickets on their website as it was cheaper than Thomson's rate. We went to Sioux City with Thomson and had a fantastic evening, well worth going. Food was great, free bar and the show was breath taking. Only made it down to the beach once, found it very windy, bit of a sand storm. There's plenty of restaurants there but didn't eat in them. Thomson rep Ross was the best rep we've ever had, knew everything about the island, i.e best places to go, where not to go, even how much cabs cost to everywhere! Overall a great holiday and would definitely go back there again soon
Four Star??????????
After jus returning from Cay Beach Princess, Maspalomas, Grand Canary I can honestly say it’s not a four star accommodation and even the resort give themselves three stars, so come on Thompson stop giving it four stars. The accommodation themselves are not bad, very clean but need of an update. The pool is great and kept very clean, the only downside you may need to get up very early to place your towel on a sunlounger. Even though the management say this is prohibited, they don’t do anything to prevent it, even after complaining to the Thompson rep, he said there was enough for everyone, I can tell you, there certainly isn’t. Do try the food at the restaurant at the complex, it’s not bad and you can have a buffet for 8 euros. Watch out though for the so called happy hour, the price of drinks go up. I.E 1.60 euros for a coke, 2.20 during happy hour. Entertainment at the complex it rubbish, and normally only one young lady entertains you. Be very careful when booking tours through the Thompson rep, ignore what he tells you, prices are cheaper if you arrange them yourselves, taxis are very cheap and reliable. He charged us a total of 96 euros to go to the Friday market in Mogan by coach, half hours drive either way. When it would have cost half the prise by taxi and even cheaper by bus. Don’t get sucked into going to the beach at Anfi Del Mar. You’ll be told you can relax by the soft white sands from the Caribbean and turquoise sea, it’s a time share, even the Thompson rep tries to persuade you to go there, but fails to mention the time share part. That’s unless you want to pay £20.000 for a two bedroom apartment for one week a year and even then you still have to pay about £500 for the week. Aqualand was good fun, recommend you go. You can also buy half prise tickets to return if you wish. Puerto Rico was worth visiting, food was reasonably prised. You can book a boat trip to see the dolphins there cheaper then getting them from the Thompson rep, 12 year olds are classed as adults and you pay for anyone over 2 years of age. At Puerto Rico children are under 16 and 2 year olds go free. Did go to Holiday World which is about half hours walk if you have children from the complex. Great fun for children, do have a ride on the Bulls, what great fun. If you rent a car, make sure you get full comprehensive cover; it will give you some reassurance as a lot of cars appear to have slight knocks. Would we as a family go back the Cay Beach Princess in Maspalomas, although weather was great, no.
Rip Off!!!!
the pool area of the complex is great, but that was about it. we paid a fortune at thomsons for 1 week, and it was no where near worth the money. the apartments are basic, the food in the restaurant is crap, and if you want to go anywhere outside the complex, its a taxi ride away. entertainment is poor and only 1 person on the pool bar area makes it stupidly slow to get served. the rep and staff were ok, but cay beach princess bungalows are in the middle of nowhere. if your havin a holiday to stay by a pool constantly, its ok, anythin else be prepared for taxi rides day and night!
Standard!!!!!
There is absolutely nothing near Cay Beach, the Faro 2 complex is about a 20 minute walk. The beach is further. The only positive to say about the location is that the taxis are very cheap. The apartments themselves are very tired and need some serious updating. The furnishings are dirty and the floors are filthy ( Do not walk around with bare feet) The towels only got changed twice in 1 weeks stay and we never actually got any clean linen. The shower is more like a trickle of water and there are ants everywhere. Considering the location of the apartments you would think they would include entertainment but you would be wrong, also the bar shuts at midnight which I feel is a little early considering it is a holiday complex.
Hire a car
My family and I 5 of us in total stayed here in June hire a car or be bored there is nothing going for this place at all very poor to far from everywhere, lack of atmosphere, and the rep was just a waste of space . The managment decied to put air conditioning units into the bungalows and totally disregarded their guests when i complained to the Thompson rep i was told they were entitled to carry out seasonal repairs i would class that as a little painting or gardening NOT drilling from 7.45 am until 5 pm what a dissapointment THOMPSON are .
hmmm
As above rated 4T by Thomson but I think it would be better as a 3T - I think a number of people there at the same time would agree based on those we talked to. Nice hotel - quiet location but obviously lacking in terms of spending money on it - the rooms were getting tired and the major complaint of guests was not enough sun beds - what they had were taken by 7am in the morning and even then they were either broken or uncomfortable, for example, the elastic was perished. The grounds are nice but again they are not properly maintained - saw a gardner once during the 2 weeks. Maid service 4 times per week (which was a quick lick) and disappointingly the bedding was changed once a week which in the very hot weather was not good. We ate once in the Restuarant and that was good. The resort is nice and we ate mainly on the Boulevard - recommend Faro Grill and Grand Italia.
nice stay
Booked this through a late deal with thomson. It really isn't a 4 star hotel. It is officially classed as a 3key. There is a big sign in reception stating so. The bungalows are a little on top of each other but saying that we didn't have any noise problems. The pool is lovely and big, holidays makers still have that age old problem of putting towels on sunbeds early in the day (6am!) We saw towels that were there all day with no one actually using them. Due to the amount of people staying it would of been nice if the staff did something about this! I got bitten by ants - and most people I talked to there did as well! take bug spray The beach is easy enough to walk to - its only about 3km. Taxis are really cheap though Meloneras is a lovely place to go to at night - if you fancy tapas try Banderas opposite the casino.. brilliant. The jacuzzi was out of order when we were there. The breakfast in the restaurant isn't up to much really.
