A smashing holiday we could not have bettered. The resort was wonderful as were the bungalows.staff could not have been more helpful even when we lost our keys. They telephoned the local police for us and all the local taxi firms. We found them in a box of tea bags where we had put hem for safety!!! A great holiday we all enjoyed.

Stayed at these bungalows for 2 weeks, arrived 31/12/2007 - dep 14/01/2008. On arrival no rep on coach, no information given. New Years Eve hoping for a good night - nothing on at all.
As my friend and I had just arrived didn't have any idea of where to go and nobody to advise us, spent a very boring night in. Bar was open but only children in with parents, no music or anything.
After that things got worse, bungalows very small - 1 small bedroom, 2 seater sofa and 2 ring cooker, no bath, small shower, sheets changed only once the two weeks we were there.
I have never had such a boring holiday in my life, asked rep for details of buses and was told better to get taxis, but 2 wks of taxis gets very expensive. Were not impressed with mini market on site, not a lot of choice - no fresh fruit or veg at all. As this was only shop for miles very poorly stocked.
The only nice thing about this complex was the pool but as water was cold, couldn't even go for a swim. For this to be a Thomson holiday I was very disappointed and would definitely not recommend this place to anyone. It was like being in the middle of nowhere for 2 weeks not a bar restaurant or shop for miles.
If you want a quiet boring holiday this is for you. My friend and I, young 60s, but need a little bit of life.

After reading the comments about this hotel I wondered if I'd done the right thing booking this. It was a really good deal and went for 11 days of winter sun.
The hotel- fabulous reception and pool area. Rooms a bit small but clean-ish. We had to brush the floor a couple of times after visits to the beach. Self catering facilities were adequate which was a good job as there are no restaurants, etc anywhere near you for breakfast. Pool bar was a bit pricey for drinks and food was ok.
Restaurant- glad I didn't pay for half board, we went for breakfast one morning to find a couple of slice of bacon, garlic mushrooms (which I love but not at 9 in the morning) and an onion stew! This really put us off so we didn't go again but others said tea was ok.
Area- no restaurants or bars near you. A good 10 mins walk to the faro 2 complex or taxi ride to Melonaras, playa de ingles.
Faro 2- excellent steak house Toro II- had a fabulous meal there and also in the Mexican in the middle of the complex- Tex mex (the fajitas are tasty).
Melonaras- where the elite go. Fantastic food but pricy for drinks but for a special occasion this would be lovely.
Yumbo- the gay centre- great for people watching and drag shows. Good restaurant - las Camelias round the corner (10 Euros for all you can eat inc. grills).
Kasbah- Irish bar good for competitions and cheaper drinks.
Chaparral- cheap and cheerful. Food was excellent in Britannia bar and some of the other places and cost half what we paid in the other centres.
Taxis to any of the above places cost less than 4 Euros.
Altogether had a wonderful holiday but just don't stay in this hotel or area if you want a lot going on e.g. clubs, bars, etc. If you want a lazy holiday then it's what you pay for.

This was one of the best holidays ever. The Bungalow was very clean and well equipped. Staff are very nice and can understand and talk basic english. The resort was beautiful to look at especially the pool, pool bar served good food.
The restaurant was not too bad but it was cheap to go out and explore to make the night more interesting. There was plenty entertainment - Brazilian and spanish dancers, a snake show, mini disco and Tuesday BBQ .
Holiday World was in walking distance of the resort - It consisted of restaurants, amusements and a small theme park area. Great things to do in Maspalomas area- Palmitos Park, Aqualand, Visit the beach, The Faro 2 Shopping Center.
The weather is always great it was over 30 degrees every day we were there. There were loads of little cats around and we fed them every day. Only ever seen one cockroach.
The rep Ross was very good however by the end of your stay you will know his 'Welcome Speech' off by heart :D
I would definitely return I was so sad to go I missed the beautiful weather and the resort was very comfortable to stay in. I also miss the cats if you do go here I'd hope you'd feed them for my sake hehe x

It looks great on the internet and in the brochures, but when you get there its a sad lot, its not 4 star its 3Ts. The rooms are a good size and clean, but everything else seems a little neglected, bottles and cups left by the pool for the whole 2 weeks we were there.
The entertainment was embarrassing and they play loud music all day over an antiquated sound system. If you think £1400 for two adults and one child, room only is a get what you pay for holiday then I will retreat quietly.

Arrived at the airport Thomson reps were impolite, not helpful so not a good start. No reps to be seen when arriving, saw 3 people in blue shirts with their backs to the door, at the very back of the airport, these were the so called reps. No rep on the coach, leaving a lot of people on the road side to find their accommodation.
The bungalows are small but enough, clean, and bright. Sheets never changed towels changed twice a week. Get to the buffet early, once food is gone it is not replaced or it is cold. Pool great, lots of sunbeds. Ross the rep great very helpful, can talk a lot though.
The courtesy room was disgraceful. Overall, holiday was good.

The food was good value at the pool bar and the restaurant. The bungalows were kept very clean.Staff were helpful, our tour rep (Ross) was there most of the time to assist us with any questions or advise.
The only downfall to this complex was that there was no deep end in the pool, so our teenagers could not dive in.
We found out that by eating out either in Maspolomas or Faro 2 that the bill would be around €90 for 2 adults and 3 young teenagers, this was without alcohol.

I was very impressed overall with these bungalows. Spacious living area, good size bathroom and bedroom. Although the walls were very thin I found no problems with noisy neighbours.
The pool and bar were extremely impressive with lots to do (pool tables, air hockey etc) and the bar meals were out of this world! Happy hour also made things quite exciting!
The pool was amazing with a waterfall, rope bridges and was not too deep at any point. The jacuzzi chairs were broken when we arrived but fixed but by the time we left and are very invigorating.
There were lots of things for kids to do with a kids club and the infamous mini disco!
There were a lot of cats outside the apartments but they were friendly and not at all feral. I only saw one cockroach the whole week I was there, although the ants did seem to want to take over the terrace. A can of spray supplied in the bungalow soon got rid of these, however!
The temperature was 35 degrees while I was out there however I had no trouble sleeping despite the fact there was no air conditioning.
Ice cream is available 24 hours a day from a vending machine and the mini mart attached to reception was very impressive with a large array of food and drink at reasonable prices.
The Faro 2 centre was easily accessible by walking (although this was strenuous in the middle of the day) and a taxi to the Yumbo centre (would have been about 7 pounds in the UK) cost between 2.50 and 3.50 euros.
All in all I was very very impressed with the apartments and look forward to returning soon!

Stayed for a week mid-May 2007, we are a "young," early 50's couple. Bungalows score 8/10.
Ours was very spacious, Lounge area with free - yes!! Free TV. Nice dining room, kitchen as you would expect, nice bathroom, shower/bath, bidet, and a good sized bedroom, excellent secure digital safe (20 Euros, getting 9 back when leaving).
The grounds very attractive, and pool, large and roomy.
We would get to pool around 9:30 - 10:00 am, and found usual problem - towel on sunbeds and nobody there, but no shortage of sunbeds, pool very clean.
Good food at the poolside bar, Happy Hour 4pm - 5pm and 10pm - 11pm.
So what’s the downside, well we had four in the bungalow next to us, and even though there is a reminder to keep the noise down they did not respect that until after 3am, so a few healthy requests thru the walls helped a little.
Ross the rep had a great heart, but we only stayed a week and tired of hearing his "welcome address" to new arrivals thru a PA system that could probably be heard a mile away.
You may feel the Cay Beach is a little out of the way, but use the taxis; we have been coming here to Maspalomas quite a few years and know the geography, yet have never been taken "the long way round".
All in all, these bungalows are value for money. Yes I would go again, and just hope the four next to us hated it! You will enjoy, we promise, and it seemed to cater for youngish couples with children. 8/10 no probs!

Just returned from a week’s holiday in the Cay Beach Princess in Maspalomas.
I think the accommodation was great and was cleaned every day. The holiday rep was helpful only when selling excursions, after that he seemed unwilling to help us with anything and was not always at the hotel when he said he would be.
The pool area was lovely - no shortage of sun loungers!
Although I must say the food was awful especially if you are vegetarian (get ready to eat fried eggs every day!).
The nights were really dull there as there is no entertainment and the bar shuts at 12 - which was disappointing. So we found that we had to get a taxi everywhere due to the lack of good food and entertainment (the cost mounted up).
As well as that there was only ever one person working at the bar for the whole complex (sometimes we were waiting 45 minutes just to get a drink!)
I would say this hotel is good if you have children as there is a kids club - but if you want nightlife then I would suggest staying somewhere else.

Just back from staying at Cay Beach Princess where problems started from day one!
The plane was delayed going without any explanation or prior notice and once on board the plane it was sat on the runway for another hour due to a broken engine!
On arrival we were told to go to a certain coach with no rep to be seen, and driver who spoke no English.
We got off coach at what we knew was our hotel, only for the driver to tell us no and to get back on and take us to another hotel and left us there, in middle of nowhere to be told by that hotel we were at wrong hotel and original one went to was the right one so we had get taxi back.
During the holiday no Thomson rep was to be seen until airport going home a week later.
Overall we were impressed with the bungalow but no A/C and the pool area is lovely, however there is no entertainment at the hotel and the food was not up to much.
We felt isolated although everywhere is within reach by taxi (Faro and Playa de Ingles) no staff at Cay Beach spoke English either.
On departing back home the coach was late to pick us up; there was huge delays at the airport again with no reps to explain why.
It took 2 hours to check in then once through departure the plane was delayed further with no explanation on the screens etc. Finally on the plane, it was delayed on the run way again due to repairs.
There was no refreshments on board and the TV broke so we couldn’t watch a movie either.
We expected more from Thomson after all we paid a lot for our holiday but Thomson need to improve their customer service, in order to keep future passengers happy.
I would not recommend Thomson to any holiday makers!!

Superb - Great location as you're only 3 euros in a taxi from maspalomas or Plays De Ingles. The bungalows were clean and could not be faulted. The pool area is great and there are loads of things for the kids to do. There's a swing park and they even run a supervised hour for the kids where they do some drawing and games and you can get to lay back and soak up some rays. It doesn't cost a penny. I read reviews about the food not being so good but so what - you are 3 euros away from a 1000 restaurants with some of the nicest food you'll ever eat. My two year old keeps asking to go back to her holiday home. Enough said.
