Great Hotel!
from LancashireLass32
Just returned from a weeks stay at the Barcarola Apartments. Set in a perfect location, on main street at quiter end of Puerto Del Carmen. Don't be fooled by the small entrance gate...lovely inside. I can say the complex was very clean and set in beautiful gardens which were really well maintained. The pool was quite big and there were plenty of sun loungers to go round. The hotel staff were really friendly and couldn't do enough to help you. Our maid was fantastic...rooms were spotlessly clean and the washing up was even done! I travelled with my partner and the room was plenty big enough for the two of us. We were self catering so didn't eat at the hotel but the food smelt really good especially the BBQ! We also went out every night so didn't sample the entertainment within the complex. The only thing I will say is some of the complex could do with a re-paint. Also as we went in May we were ok with the temperatures at night but I can imagine it will be hotter in summer so no air conditioning could be a bit of a problem when trying to sleep. Apart from that the hotel was fantastic. Would definitely reccomend these apartments to others and return here myself.
Best Holiday Ever

This our second time staying here and I have to say the apartments are still as nice as they were when we first stayed there in 2005. The apartments themselves were lovely lots of space and we had a view of the beuatiful grounds. Towels and bed sheets were snow white and the cleaning staff did a fantastic job servicing the apartment every day. It was always spotless. The kitchen was fully equipped the fridge/freezer even had ice cube trays. Bathroom had plenty of space and shower was good and powerful. The staff were very helpful and friendly and there was no problem when you had to ask for anything. They evn sold stamps and posted you postcards for you. It is ideally situated and the resaturant next door is worth a visit. One word of advice though when coming back late the sprinklers tend to be on so be prepared to get a bit wet!!!! Bit of fun anyway especially after a few cocktails!!!! The pool side bar is great for a snack and a few drinks and even though we did not try the restaurant ourselves anyone we talked to enjoyed the meal there. All in all we had a great time in Lanzarote and are heading back in September for another holiday.
land of the living dead
from honestscotsreviewer
thought we had found the perfect place, as lanzarote can be a bit hilly. these apartments are on the strip, which is very flat, & suits my wife with her very bad leg.apartments are ok, but not 3keys as they claim, you can enjoy a holiday here if you go self -catering,we went half board, the food is the worst i have had in any country, its always very cold, staff do try there best,in fact they do go out of there way,to please. But what they do not tell you, is they cater more for the GERMANS. that is why the food is crap.we thought we could go there, stay by the pool, & have a rest & recoop some energy, but its like the land of the living dead.those GERMAN ZOMBIES,just will not entertain any brits, what soever.in fact they will not even speak to there own kind, its the most spookiest place that we have ever stayed,i mean it ,it was the living dead. will never go back there again.

Fantastic holiday

Spent two weeks at the Barcarol in September. We booked a 2 bedroom apatment, and had plenty of space, especiall the size of the wardrobes. Only problem, take some extra hangers only 10 hangers in each. Although some of the furniture could do with a face lift, everything was spotless. Beautiful white sheets and towels. The grounds were so picturesque. Our apartment had a pool view and was fantastic. We were self catering and only ate in the hotel once, so maybe best not to comment. There are so many places to eat and drink you are spoilt for choice. The best place for a meal and evening out is at the American Indian Bar. The food is great and they have a band on from 10.00 until closing. The band is fantastic. You can tell when it's getting close to them coming on as the place fills up. Well worth a visit. We spent quite a few nights there. Another place is The Barge Inn, just as you come out of the complex, turn right and a couple of hundred yards there you are. There is something on every evening. Some nights Bingo, yes bingo, but with a difference. You would need to go to find out. The only word of warning about the complex is that if you come back late at night you may find the sprinklers on to water the grass. We did, and to say the least we did not need to shower when we got in. No matter which way we went there was water. Quite funny when you have had a few. Going back next year and can't wait.
Looking for a relaxing stay
from CDV&HA
I spent a lot of time looking for the ideal place to stay in Lanzarote .. and found it. An aparthotel, on the level (some places are on steep hills), 1 bedroom, quiet but near the shops and bars, swimming pool, near a beach. A lot to ask. The apartment was spotless, grounds immaculate - picturesque with trees with different coloured flowers against the white painted flats. The variety of food in the restaurant was fantastic. I got into trouble for having 4 course breakfasts. We only ate out for dinner once in the 2 weeks we were there.only because we felt we should. We paid £1100 in total for our 2wks,HB 26/6 from Glasgow. You could pay to eat at the hotel - 6.5 euros for breakfast and 12 for dinner. Kept our pennies for beers and vino after T. Asked for a kettle - no problem. No microwave - who cares - don't have one at home. Fridge freezer-great for icecubes. Would have preferred air-con but the hire of the fan was fine. My mum and dad are going for 4 wks in February-hope to join them for a week. Walk off the street into a quiet oasis. Mix of nationalities,(tho' we were the only scots), families, different age groups but everyone 'well behaved' if you know what I mean. Hubby and I are keen footie fans and had a fab time. Best game was GermanyvItaly. Watched it in the grounds with Patrick(kiddies entertainer - he was wonderful with the kids-spoke all languages) and a group of German friends. Kids and all. Trips : took the (dearer) south day trip - camel ride -hubby not me - Fire Mountain - absolutely incredible - great lunch. el golfo, Yaiza village. (cheap & cheerful trip seemed a bit sales orientated). Visited Cesar Manrique's house on our own. Stay on the bus to Arricife terminus. 10/15 mins on another bus. Go early and miss tours - unusual,peaceful... Arrcife town is good for a vist too. Sunday market. Great buys' -appx a third cheaper than in town for picture frames, pottery, foto albums.. Took an organised bus - local one was jam packed and it was quite hot. Puerto Calero - v nice boats. Bus taxi v cheap. Pdel Carmen harbour at night was good fun - only went through once cos' quite happy round about where we were. Food - Don Camillo for pizza, drinks see Steven straight across the road down the hill-good for a banter - nice sangria don't be smart and have it strong.. Loved Lanzarote and would go back in a minute.

Fantastic all round

Just returned from a fantastic week in Puerto del Carmen Lanzarote. Lots of shops although there are a lot of cheap shops all the same but great fun. We stayed at the Barcarola Apartments. superb. Could not fault them extremely clean smashing gardens spotless. Our apartment was for five and there were three of us, but still would have been sufficient for five lots of space. Superbly situated overlooking the pool, considering close to main road, a wall and gorgeous plants and trees seperated us, we could not hear or see anything. The block and room was E3 so ask for it, over looked the pool fantastic to sit out at night time very peaceful and calming. People not allowed in pool after 9.30 p.m. Very firendly, knowledgeable and extrememly helpful reception staff. We had no electric one morning after 3 phone calls and different stories, the receptionist herself went to find the eletrician, I saw her marching to get him from our balcony. He came straight away and knew the problem it was the kettle. I had read that kettles are not supplied, so we took one, however if you holiday with thompsons the complex supply them. No complaints at all. The complex is ideally situated behind gates in the middle of the shops and bars. If you see a slope down to a shop by the Barcarola, sorry do not know name, go down it, it leads to the most amazing shop that seems to go on for ever under the road you walk on.Everyone is so firendly the beach is a few yards away endless places to eat. Try the Codfather fish and chip shop, great chips and there are a few English bars by it and they will let you take your chips into their bars whilst you have a drink, great atmosphere. We were there for the England match. One of the best places to eat is La Brasa very busy and bustling, staff will go out of there way to accomodate you, my mother does not eat much and they could not do enough to see that she was alright and had just what she wanted. They even adapted a meal for her. Great night very comfortable and relaxing. Only disappointment went into Arreicife one night, felt very uncomfortable there, not a nice place very disappointed expected lots of good shops and bars. Do not know if we were dropped off by taxi in wrong place but could not find any bars or eating places. Even a walk by the marina felt unsafe. Needs a lot of work on this town. Once got back to Puerto del Carmen felt like i had come home. Will definately go back and to these apartments. Was sorry to leave. Shame about 2 hr delay going and 12 hour delay coming back.

Only two of us went on this trip, but we decided to splash out a little bit more and pay for an apartment with two bedrooms. Room was massive and clean (though every morning a trail of ants made there way across our kitchen floor) Bathroom had very poor showering facilities, which caused a swimming pool to be created on the floor due to a rubbish curtain. Hotel is lovely and quiet if you want to be away from all the noise of the main row of bars and only a 10 minute walk away from all the casino and main boozers inc beach. Would recommend but you can do a lot better than lanzarote if you want sunshine.
Barcarola Apartments - Lovely and friendly
from Sweety1962
We stayed at the Barcarola in July 2005. The grounds are well kept and clean, with the pool area being hosed down and swept early in the morning. This is also one of the only places we have stayed, where there are enough sunloungers to go round!! There is a kids entertainer, who organises pool games for both the adults and kids !!!. She does a kids club each morning with crafts, such as balloon making, kite making and tuition in things like juggling. Barcarola does have a restaurant, but we were self-catering. People we spoke to said that the food was good, with plenty of choice. The apartment we had was by the pool, with terrace and was adequately furnished. We could have done with a microwave and air conditioning would have been nice. I would advise that you buy a mini clip on fan plus adaptor to take with you, as the hire charge is ridiculous. The cleaners were very friendly and cleaned to a high standard. The Barcarola apartments are situated centrally, in the middle of Puerto del Carmen. They have the reputation as being one of the best self-catering places to stay. There are literally dozens of restaurants, shops, bars and wide sandy beaches, all within walking distance. The prices locally are extremely reasonable and we were impressed by the high standards of food available. If you want a good quiz night, the Barge Inn is the place to be. Jez the owner is from Wigan and he is a compare to be reckoned with!!! Plenty of funny stories and free drinks, prizes etc !!!. Parts of PDC could do with a revamp as very 70s/80's but all in all a great place for all.
Four adults have just returned from a holiday at the Barcarola Club. We had a 2 bedroom apartment which was on the first floor in an excellent position overlooking the swimming pool. It was nicely furnished with sufficient equipment and the cleaner came in every day and... more
