Ahh Dublin what can I say! A fantastic place to visit, Guinness, Smithwicks, mussels a great city and great country.
However, don’t stay at the Dublin Days Hotel near the Airport unless you’re going within the next six months, after that I imagine it will look tired and scruffy!
Okay, to begin I booked via Lastminute.com, mmm, secured three nights specified no smoking and hard bed required. Arrived, after the 15.00 check in time, only to find we were given a smoking room.
Grumbled at Receptionist who told us we would have to wait to see if there was another room available. After 20 to 30 minutes and her confirming with staff a non smoking room was available we finally were able to unpack.
We passed through very light and airy corridors but the carpets didn't fit properly, strips were added separately.
Hotel food and Restaurant staff were fabulous but when you took in your surroundings there was mould on the ceilings and air vents! YUK!
Room Service - prompt and friendly, however do they have Bath Sheets in Ireland? We managed to secure two the first evening then they went missing and the staff claimed they don't have them in this Hotel!
Executive Double Room - Ok if you say so. Room was new, bed was comfortable, door to the room didn't fit and let in a draft, bathroom was clean and modern but finish included inordinate amounts of filler.
Electric towel dryer didn't work and I had to fight with radiator in order to switch it on then it was hidden by a huge curtain from ceiling to floor. Oh and mixer taps for shower, it worked though. Otherwise all else was fine and modern.
Gym - mmm according to Lastminute.com this facility is available - but at a price and not at the same address as the Hotel. Thanks for telling, me at 15 Euros per day.
So to recap, if you want to visit Dublin and stay in a hotel surrounded by a building site, busy main road half hearted shower and not even a proper bath towel to dry yourself with then be my guest. Not forgetting the mould in the Restaurant, the late check in time...

The trip i booked was for a surprise birthday gift for my partner who was turning 21.
We flew from Manchester and 40 minutes later we were in Dublin - Great.
We carted our bags from the carousels and made our way into the main arrival halls, and found the phone to call our hotel.
They were really friendly and directed us to the destination our driver was going to pick us up. We waited 15 minutes maximum and was greated by a lovely little minibus with Michael as our driver. He was lovely and had a story about everrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrything, which was a great way to start the trip.
We pulled up at the hotel which was about 7 minutes away from the airport to a very new, clean and crisp hotel. The reception always had somebody on hand and we were checked in with ease. We stayed on a room only basis, and the room was amazing! neat, tidy, modern, and free internet access and the football!
The hotel was easy to find your way around, there is a restaurant , we never had the pleasure of eating in it, but we did have a few drinks in there, and the atmosphere was homely and friendly.
With arriving at the hotel quite late on in the afternoon we stayed in the hotel the first night, stuck with what to get for food we asked main reception if there was anywhere around that we grab something to eat. Kristel was more than happy to hand us over some fast food leaflets they kept on reception and rang and ordered the food for us so we didnt have to venture out.
The hotel isn't in the greatest place, as its a developing area. The flats overlooking the hotel are being emptied and knocked down to build new business places so it looks abit shabby around the hotel, and there are a few wierd looking people hanging around the empty buildings.
The hotel is literally 2 minutes away from a bus stop that takes you directly into the city centre @ 1 euro 70 to get to dublin centre its great! Our first day in Dublin was a Sunday then a bank holiday Monday so buses aren't as frequent, maybe every 30 minutes, but normal weekdays the buses are prompt at every 10 or so minutes. Exact change is needed on the bus also, so be sure to carry change with you! If not reception and the hotel restaurant are always happy to change notes for change!
The hotel is friendly, clean and cannot do enough for you, they are laughing and joking all the time, so makes your stay that little bit easier! Its not in an ideal location but if your happy with jumping a bus for a 10 minute bus journey into main Dublin, its a great base.
