Aug 2011, Middle aged couple with dog

Just returned from 5 day break at Melfort Pier & Harbour. The accommodation which was described as luxury is in reality it is well below average and very dated into the bargain. Our accommodation looked like it was stuck in the 80's with a tatty peach coloured bathroom... more

We have stayed at Melfort Pier many times over the past 9 years - on our own and with other family members. We tend to go there for long weekends as the surroundings are so beautiful and relaxing. It is true that over the years the houses have aged and are in need of some... more

We arrived at Melfort Pier and Harbour July 2008 excited to experience this luxurious family break we all deserved and were eager to enjoy. On arrival the accommodation appeared fine superficially; the staff were initially friendly and the location beautiful. Unfortunately... more

The chalet at Melfort Pier and Harbour was nice - not luxurious as stated and definitely not worth £250 for two nights. The setting was beautiful and the health room (sunbed and sauna) was great, but there were a few things I wasn't impressed with, e.g. the knitted toilet... more

Amazing, Relaxing, Beautiful surroundings and exceptional staff!!
What an amazing place!! We spent 4 nights at Melfort in June 2010, my Father in Law booked it as a surprise break for the family, there were 10 of us in total including small children, plus two dogs. The drive up through the mountains to Melfort was stunning!! When we arrived there was a complimentary tray with tea, coffee and biscuits. The accommodation was very spacious and very clean, with beautiful views across the harbour. We spent 4 days relaxing watching the children ride their bikes, and play in the park area. There is a small beach area which was great for the children to paddle/swim in, they enjoyed looking for shells, fish and crabs etc,. We were outside all day, everyday, as the weather was fantastic. We packed the car and were about to leave when we decided to have a coffee before we left, we sat for about an hour or so, just taking in the views once more, as we really didn't want to leave!! TIP!!!! If you do visit Melfort take a drive up to the top of mountain pass. It's a short drive, turn left on the road that runs through Melfort and follow the road for about 3/4 miles. Park the car and just sit and enjoy the stunning views. We cannot speak highly enough of Melfort and the staff who looked after us, anyone looking for a relaxing break should look no further!!
