TRH Jardin del Mar Reviews
" Great Holiday "
Submitted By: benzbodFacilities immediately adjacent to the hotel, although not all open, offered variety and choice, from souvenir shops and supermarkets to car hire and restaurants. There is a choice of Chinese, Spanish, British, Mexican, all sorts, and whilst we didn't have a bad meal, our favourites were 'La Pergola', just across the road and a few yards towards the Plaza from the hotel entrance, and 'Manolo's', a few hundred yards further on on the right, going up the hill towards the resort centre. Our least favourite was 'Le Jardin', just before 'Manolo's', our meal was a little too salty, and the chairs uncomfortable. Of the British eateries, 'Katies', on the Plaza, and 'Chimes', on the hill out of town from the roundabout where the bus stops are, almost opposite 'Jardin del Mar' on the other side of the bay offer excellent snacks and breakfasts, and the 'Pepper Pot' and the 'Duke of York' are good in the evening.
Getting about was easy. We caught the 102 express bus into Palma, the alternative 104 runs along the coast through the other resorts, and takes about 45 minutes longer. The bus station is underground, next to the state run railway station, and is clean, bright and it is easy to find connections to other areas. We went on the train to Soller, the station is only a few yards from the main station, the trip is fabulous, and well worth doing, as is the tram ride from Soller to Port de Soller, a return ticket is about 19 euro's, and makes for an excellent day out.
We also hired a car, not from the hotel recommended agent, but from Eurocambio almost opposite the hotel entrance, it cost us 1 euro more, but the proprietor was friendly, helpful, and went out of his way to make sure we were happy. We went to Valdemossa, then along the coast road back to Andraxt, another good day out, and then to the pearl factories in the centre of the island, then on to the Alcudia area. A tip is that we thought the prices in the factory outlets cheaper than in the jewellers shops in the resorts.
Would we go again, yes, Would we recommend our friends, yes, to both the hotel and the resort.
Advice: Great resort, no
Activities: 'La Pergola', Train and tram to Soller and Port de Soller, Valdemossa and road to Andraxt.
" We will return "
Submitted By: suelavWe hired a car which was great as we would not have been happy to stay in Santa Ponsa all week.
The hotel was very clean - towels changed as required, bins emptied daily. The room was terrific a good size and great views from a lovely terrace (seventh floor)
We had a great time the staff were really helpful, polite and fun. Veronica (the one woman animation team) was excellent with the children and it was obvious they all loved her. In the evening the entertainment was 90% Spanish, but hey we were in Mallorca.
The food was adequate with a reasonable amount of choice considering that the Hotel is medium sized with possibly less than half the guests eating evening meals and even fewer for lunch.
The all inclusive drinks were great - fast friendly service and a reasonable strength - bottles of wine on the table and meal times.
All in all, a great holiday, in a clean hotel with great staff.
We look forward to returning and using the Jardin del Mar as a good base to get around from.
Advice: Santa Ponsa was quiet at Christmas most bars etc were closed.
Activities: Palma interesting city, caves of Drach spectacular, Soller pretty and the mountain views spectacular
Good for: Beach

Submitted By: Mrs S WheelerDay trips can be booked from hotel and hire cars were available from sixty five euro for three days. The bands in the sqare finished on the last day of sept but most of the bars stayed open as long as there were guests on holiday wanting drinks.
Dont use the beach path if you have a pram or walking difficulties..Will use this hotel again.
" Just got back from an amazing... "
Submitted By: Miss J Taylorthe hotel is brilliant and so is the food could not fault it, we went half board and think it really is worth it at this hotel, there is a kitchen area but it does not have a cooker or microwave but then there are so many restaurants and cafes in the resort i dont think it would matter if u was s/c.
the rooms are a bit small but come on its not the ritz, we was comfortable and there was 3 adults and a toddler in our room!!! maid came daily to mop and take out rubbish!!
we had a side sea view room and had a really good view of the sea actually tho only sat out there for lunch and for a drink in the evening
there were no rushes for the sunbeds, there was the odd few that went out at 9am to put towels down but by the time we got down there about 10.30 there were loads left!
the pool is great, a bit cold tho, the sea is actually warmer! lol!! kids dont seem bothered and once ur in u do warm up! only fault was could do with a seperate toddler pool a bit shallower as the main pool was quite deep so there were alot of children over 5 in the small pool making it quite full.
the staff here were fantastic, they love children and doted on my lil girl!
there was no entertainment but it didnt need it as it is situated right on a lively square of bars and shops surrounding live entertainment! couldnt fault the resort! everything u needed was on the sq and there was a lovely little cove by the hotel, it was not a sandy beach it was pebbled but it was a little suntrap and the sea is crystal clr, u can snorkel and see the fishes!
a walk down to santa ponsa town takes about 15mins down hill, but is well worth it, there are shops and bars all the way down on both sides and the town is also full of shops and bars, the beach is amazing! the water clr and sunbeds are cheap only 3 euros per day! spent some lovely days on the beach!!, although there is a walk back up the hill to the hotel u dont notice it if u are dipping in and out of shops! there is a lovely coastal walk to the town but it is not suitable for pushchairs, we still went and just took it in turns to walk the road way with pushchair, it really is worth it!!
can honestly say this was the best holiday so far! and we will definately be returning next year to the jardin del mar!

Submitted By: Mrs D WoodwardThe main reception is not very welcoming - but the staff were friendly and helpful. We arrived mid morning and told our room would not be ready until 2pm, but disappointed as we just wanted to get changed and into the sun! We fell lucky with the room, it was bigger than most people’s (think we were on abit of a corner).
Basic rooms, twin bed in bedroom and settee and additional camp bed for my 2 children in lounge area, table chairs, TV, storage cupboard. Kitchen was basic but had everything you would need to make quick breakfast and snacks. No oven just hob - we hired a toaster for 8 Euros. All in all everything you needed.
Cleaning towels every day and bedding changed few times during out stay. Kept very clean.
We paid extra for a front sea view - pay it is FAB!! Nothing better than sitting watching the sea with a cup of tea!!
The pool area is adequate - abit hemmed in with sunbed but not too bad. Now sunbeds.... got to get down there and put towels on to guarantee a bed.... hate doing it but could not risk not having a bed! I used to go down about 9 and we would all be down there about 10ish unlike some who arrived late afternoon. You could nearly always get a bed after 4pm ish and the sun is on the terraces until 7pm. There is a lifeguard on duty.
Bar - drinks / ice lollies were expensive - food reasonable and quite nice and freshly cooked.
Entertainment is little to nonexistent - which was disappointing having kids of 8 and 10 who would normally join in games etc. There was a mini club 10-12 and 3-5 in the park but all they done was colouring different things or tattoo's - little girl went a couple of times but she lovely colouring! Seemed to be adults activities now and again but abit hit and miss! Evening was funny - thought we would check it out one night and there was this poor guy on an organ singing with about 6 people at the bar - so swift exit!! Believe he was there every night!!
Hotel is about and 10/15 minute walk to the beach and busier area of Santa Ponsa. There is a good supermarket just next to the hotel.
Santa Ponsa - lovely place, lovely beach- very clean. Lots of little shops to have a wonder around at night. Lots of eating places our two favourites were Pepper Pot - little gem hidden back from the main drag - lovely traditional English homemade dishes. The other one is near the Spanish square, just along from the taxi rank, next to Miami restaurant called 'las something!!!' excellent food here not the cheapest but presentation and quality worth the extra - mixture of pasta, fish, steaks etc.
Spanish square is good if you have younger children, safe to let them gather on the huge dance area and they can watch all the shows, different tribute bands/singers ever night. Gets very busy but worth a visit. Up the other end of Santa Ponsa towards beach is where you'll find the lively bars - normally Irish - good laugh had by all.
Recommend Western Water Park - fab rides - great day.
We had a good time and would recommend Santa Ponsa and the Jardin Del Mar was perfectly adequate during our stay.
" These apartments were great. The view... "
Submitted By: Miss K LoughranThe staff were very friendly, even the cleaners greeted us and were very polite. Clean towels were supplied every day except sun and thurs as there was no maid service those days. Bed linen was supplied on one day during our week long stay.
As for sun loungers, yes there were a lot of towels down early but I was always able to get one no matter what time of the day I went down.
Aqualand in Magaluf was a great day out. The entertainment in the Square every night was good and was only less than five minutes walk from the apartments. The food in Santa Ponsa was mostly good and there is a supermarket just next to the apartments.
I would highly recommend these apartments as I was really impressed by them.

Great location for beech/shops/entertainment-if you have a push chair beech is a bit of a hike,or 10 mins walk on bumpy beech path
reception is a bit hit and miss i.e they could not find our booking when we arrived and acted like it was out fault, but were helpful on other issues
only downside is 'stampede' for towels (at 9am)is hilarious, one morning I got up with my running shoes on and challenged all the 'sadows' for a race for the best beds with my family and friends cheering from the balconies
I won the race and cheered as I gasped on my bed, only to suffer the glares from 'losers'
There are plenty of beds if the hotel was to clamp down form people claiming up to 10 beds then going off for hours sometimes beds would remain empty all day
The 'square is great' and best place to eat is 'jackies'
If you want late night entertainment the 'strings' bar on the strip is best(get a taxi back 3 euros)
Advice: best resort in majorca
Activities: jackies in square
Good for: Beach
