Not sure I really want everyone to know how fabulous this small hotel is, but they really deserve the plaudit. This truly is one of Kalkan's best kept secrets. A quiet, immaculately clean hotel with stunning views over Kalamar Bay.
The rooms are all air conditioned, airy and spacious and the beds are incredibly comfortable. The pool and terrace area is beautiful and the staff are very attentive.
The hotel represents huge value for money and bar and food prices are very reasonable in what is becoming an increasingly expensive resort.
The hotel has one of the best chefs in Kalkan. Notable delicacies are the mouth-watering calamari, which is cooked to perfection (not too chewy and delicate crispy batter) and the famous lamb. The lamb is slow roasted to perfection for 3 or 4 hours with delicate herbs and flavouring, and melts in the mouth.
The buffet style breakfast is also fantastic, and varies daily with the occasional addition of pastries, gozleme and cakes baked by the chef as an extra treat.
The hotel has a relaxed homely, atmosphere whilst remaining professional at all times.
The owner is the principal reason why we keep coming back here (10 times to date!). He is very amusing and entertaining. Don't be surprised if you find yourself in the kitchen cooking him a curry! This really is home from home and it is impossible not to relax.
If you can prise yourself from the sunbed and the temptations of the Ekin restaurant, a complimentary shuttle service into Kalkan is offered. We had an excellent meal at the newly opened Lykia restaurant, and the prices were reasonable.
Prices at the Gironde, on the other hand, are a bit steep and the standard of the food wasn't as good as in previous trips.
Back to the Ekin, the owner’s motto is "my home is your home". Enjoy, but don't tell too many people. Let’s keep it a secret...
