I have just come back from the Los Arcos and can honestly say that youth hostels are cleaner. We arrived late on Friday evening, the reception area was clean and pleasant and the staff friendly and helpful. The room was another story altogether. The smell was pungent,... more

My partner & i were booked to stay at the los arcos for 13 nights from 26-09-10. On arrival the approach & reception area seemed ok & reception staff pleasant enough. The only other good point about our stay was that the towels were changed daily. We stayed room only so we... more

says exactly what it says on tin
my wife and i and 2 friends stayed here in jan 2009 we couldnt fault it for b&b while we were there we could see what full board and half board were getting for tea and it never changed the same menu most nights the hotel otherwise was fine we were central to everything and torre itself is a wonderful place to go to warm people and have time for you lots to do and see all cafes and rests jockying for your business so you can go cheap if you want pauls office cafe and dark side of the moon very good and reasonable we would recomend these 2 places. the hotel itself in a nutshell dont expect the ritz or a run down mess. cheap and cheerful staff very good a good budget hotel
Great little hotel, shame about the food
Great hotel, rooms very clean, excellent staff and if you get a room at the back of the hotel it's very quiet. Food lacking a bit, if you can get this on a room only basis then go for it ,as for half board it's cheapish but the food is very limited and not at all appealing. Great location not far from supermarkets, bars, shops and bus stop.
Okay
stopped for 10 days at the beginning of october with my girlfriend, it was red hot for 8 days (bout 26-28 degrees), rained once and was windy another. The hotel itself was very basic, the breakfast was the same for all ten days, cerial and toast with ham, cheese and juice, room was facing the dual carriageway just at the front of the hotel, the doors would rattle and let in all the noise of the cars going by. the towels were changed as and when the maid felt like it, infact a couple of times i had to go to reception and ask for some clean ones, the bedding was not changed in the whole ten days. the hotel staff were very friendly and very helpful, offering us free rides to the train station about 2km away, i got the impression from them that they knew their hotel was crap so they would try to be as nice as possible and help you as much as possible. pictures paint a thousand words so ive included some. by the way we were in room 201
A lovely friendly hotel
I would definately recommend this hotel, we could not fault it in anyway. It may be small but the staff are very friendly, nothing was too much trouble for any of them. The rooms are basic but clean with fresh towels everyday if necessary. Although it is on a main road we had no problems with noise. We only went bed and breakfast and had no compaints of what was available. Other guests confirmed that the Dinner was most acceptable. We had a very pleasent stay at this hotel
great for money!!!
Me and my boyfriend can not understand what people can complain about with this hotel for the amount you pay. We arrived to a clean basic room with a balcony overlooking the pool, the staff throughout the stay were extremly friendly and helpful. Breakfast was a selection of meats, cheeses, toast, crossaints and cereal. Whereas the evening buffet was always a selection with hot and cold foods, soups, salads for starts and always a fish and meat option with a variety of veg. The rooms were cleaned everyday with fresh towels and air conditioned. With about a 5 minute walk, most of our days were spent at the beach, so the main road did not bother us at all. There was a supermarket just to the left of the hotel which was handy also. The hotel is quite small but this made us more confident in the staff, they knew who you were and would always talk with you and have a joke. When talking to other people staying at the hotel, no one seemed to have complaints, everyone seemed to be having a lovely time no matter what they were doing. Whether they were there for a week with their children to stay by the pool. Or there for 2 weeks like us, using the hotel just to sleep and eat at. Overall we had an amazing time and i would definatley recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to do what we did, we are a young couple and wanted to go away for 2 weeks to relax on the beach and go to nice bars on the beach at night. We had a great time and if you have booked to stay in this hotel do not be put off by some of the reviews the hotel has been given.
Very enjoyable stay
A family run, traditional hotel. Excellent location for fab beaches, bars/restaurants, shops and public transport. Staff could'nt have been nicer or more helpful. Will definitely recommend this hotel to family/friends and hope to return ourselvesf in the future. A big thankyou to everyone at the Los Arcos for a lovely stay from Sandra and Liam, London.
Good time had by all !!!
I have just returned from a week at Los Arcos and must disagree with the comments from the last 'author'. Quite honestly I can't understand what she expected for about £2.50 per person per night for an evening meal!! We were a party of 3 adults and 4 children and were looking for a value for money break in the sun and this hotel tricked all the boxes. The rooms, while basic, were quiet, clean and had an air-conditioning unit to keep you cool. The staff were all very friendly and always happy to help. The reception staff and the waiting staff all smiled and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Yes, the meals were basic but when you consider that the half board supplemement worked out at about £2.50 per person per night what do you want? Having a cheap meal at night (there was always a choice) meant that we had extra money left to spend on eating out at lunch, visiting the aqua park or going out for a drink. If you want a cheap hotel that is close to the beach and is clean and friendly then book Los Arcos.
food hell
my friend and i have just come back from the los arcos montemar,we stayed for a week on a girly holiday, the hotel itself is basic but clean although the rooms are in need of refurbishment.when we went down for our first dinner i could not believe such food was being served to paying guests.our first delight was chicken nuggets and beans, there was no chips or spuds, just a sorry looking salad, after that it got a whole lot worse, packet mash i actually thought was semollina, and hotdog sausage in white wine sauce.the puds were either creme caramel with a soggy digestive biscuit stuck on top or tinned fruit. after a few complaints we were told we could order anything we liked but someone tried to order chips and was told there was none.the pool is only small but is kept clean, though there are only 4 sunbeds for the whole hotel, some of which are broke.i dont know who gave the los arcos 3 stars,i can only think it was after a jolly night on the local sangria.if you just want a base and want to eat out every night you could probably do worse than the los arcos, but if you are staying half board please be warned.
Avoid this place
My partner and I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights in January 2007 The reception staff were very nice then it came to an end. There was no breakfast on the first morning only baguettes and jam and tea with hot milk!! It got worse as the dinner was terrible I had pork well thats what it said on the menu, not recommend. The paella had 4 pieces of chicken in it. The staff in the restaurant were shocked at seeing guests. Morning two and we managed to get some cheese and ham with the baguettes, the third morning orange juice appeared. We did not eat any evening meals, the choices were terrible and I think were only put on the board as we had booked dinner bed and breakfast. This hotel is for Spanish travellers who don't eat breakfast or dinner. Best to avoid this place!!!!
Grate place!!!
Montemar is inbetween benalmadena and torremolinos (nearer to benalmadena end) IT is basically the promenade all along the beach where you can walk either way. the marina is at the end of it, loads of lovely restaurants and you can walk all the way in torremolinos. Beach was really nice and looked after and promenade very clean! Would love to go back!! A hidden gem!
