got there at 8pm office was closed had to phone for someone to come with the key waited till 9pm.tha appartment was clean nice and big plents of pots and pans.had to pay 20 euros for a pass key to get into the pool.there was three tables and 8 chairs if you go 20 people in the pool area there would be no room to spread your towel out too small for the amount that use it,the main office is closed from 12 till 2.30 pm not a proper reception ,there is no balcony or an area to sit in.there is no place to sit out in unless you get up early and go to the pool.when your going home you have to go back to the office as thats where you get picked up,i would not stay there again only cos of the balcony,it near to everything shops pub marina.the cleaners were very nice.some days they would not come to clean

Good For A Short Break

Just returned from 4 nights in the Mouraliz. The apartments were good all you need for a short visit. Downside for us was no balcony(ground floor garden apt have one with small garden) but we were first floor, you do have french doors to open but not to sit out. The pool which is across from the apartments was not opended in March but when we asked at the reception we were given keys to the pool at the Algamar this is where the reception is, and a nice space to sit out on a warm March day. I can not fault the staff the cleaners and the very helpfull reception staff were excellent. The Mouraliz is good for the price it costs. We stayed in Block D 202.

Clean, comfortable, basic accommodation

We went for 1 week in September 2010. The accommodation was clean, plenty of room for 2 people. Pool was separate, about 50 metres away accessed by swipe card, clean and never over-busy. Very close to the centre of Vilamoura and all shops, restaurants. Supermarket nearby very helpful. One thing to be aware of is that Mouraliz is managed by a company called Garvetur and on arrival you are dropped off by the transfer bus from airport outside Garvetur Reception. This did confuse us, especially as Reception was closed when we arrived. It was sorted out with a phone call. We had an enjoyable week. The fish market is worth a visit at Garteira and Falesia beach was excellent. Recommend buying your own parasol for the beach.

Value for Money and Safe

I have just returned form a 4 day stay at the Moulariz apartments - I must say that the doom and gloom of some of the previous reviews had put me off, but i found it to be very clean, safe and a great location for the centre of Vilamoura.
I would really recommend these apartments to anyone thinking of going to Vilamoura - you would not sleep with the windows and doors open at home so don't do it when you are abroad.
Ok they are not 5 star, but if your on a budget and want a decent place to base yourself you cannot go wrong - we had a mixed party of 7 and three studio apartments, the staff were great and the cleaners keen.

just returned from the mouraliz appartments today, yes great location, yes great cleaners, thats all it has going for it..waited 2hours(between 10-12pm) for some1 to be at reception to show us where to go,tryed all the phone numbers but to no avail, graffti everywere, bricked up appartments, noisey 24/7 an invasion of ants reported nothing done, pool dirty, and uncomfortable no loungers or shades, not opened till 9.30am,payed 20euro for pass key to enter it,didnt get 1 nites sleep, between people entering the appartment block,or 7 people useing a 2 bedroom appartment, and fights outside in the carpark, will never use this place again, garvetur needs a good shake and get there priorties in order, after all fist impressions last, and yes it states air con, well surprise there is none, when we asked about it he just laughed,id rather pay more money for a hotel..block d 301

We stayed in these apartments in April, 101 A block. One bedroom. Very basic and smelled of damp. Shutters closed and nailed shut so rooms remained dark all day. Cleaners every day and were lovely but that is all I can say was positive about this place. Pool was accessed by paying 10 euro for key for lock up gate. No ATM, no room service (you must be joking) although it describes this in Booking.com. Quite a run down area, weeds everywhere and was serviced by Garvetur property services who obviously dont know what they're representing. Algardia are the same only WORSE.

The apartments were fine. Location excellent within very easy walking distance of marina, shops, busses etc. Only problem was the unwanted intruders that shinned up to the second floor apartment window and entered during the night when we were sleeping and stole a wallet from the side of the bed.
Please, please ensure that you lock the sliding window in the kitchen - Spiderman hangs out in the area!.

These apartments were of an extremely poor standard and actually posed a health hazard to myself and family. Given our late arrival we had no alternative but to spend a night there. Having slept there one night my daughter suffered from what could only be described as bed bug bites. The bathroom had mould visibly growing in it and the apartment smelled of dampness. The towels provided had excrement stains on them (I have provided photographic evidence).
I contacted the Management Company "Garvetur" in person first thing next day to report this, to give them the opportunity to inspect the premises and to demand that we be moved to alternative accommodation immediately. They advised that they had no alternative accommodation to offer us. We escalated this through the dispute resolution process and eventually contacted Travel Republic who promised to get back to us. Travel Republic failed to contact us and in fact abandoned us for the duration of our holiday.
I obtained alternative accommodation through my own efforts and returned the keys for the Mouraliz to the management company later that day. I went online later again that day and formally reported this to Travel Republic requesting that they remove the Mouraliz from their accommodation list with immediate effect so that other families did not have a similar experience. On my return to UK I have sought a refund for the 6 days we did not occupy this apartment. Neither Travel Republic, MedHotels or the owner of the Mouraliz are prepared to refund any payments nor do they acknowledge any problem with this accommodation.
I would strongly caution anyone against booking this accommodation and I would also highlight to them the lack of support from the booking agents Travel Republic and Med Hotels. Buyer Beware.

I have been holidaying in Vilamoura for the last 10 years and this was the worst apartment I have ever stayed in.
The only thing in its favour was that it was just minutes from the Marina and the night life and close to the 2 beaches. Other than that it was old looking, not very well maintained and very noisy when other residents entered or left the apartments due to the concrete stairwell and narrow hallway.

The location in central Villamoura is pefect, a 12 minute stroll to a clean and safe beach and just a few minutes walk to the marina and its great restaurants catering for all tastes and size of pockets.
The apartments were shabby - there is a lot of graffiti on the outside walls which took us back at first. The interiors are old and shabby but clean. The enamel had come off on our bath, the ceramic tiles were cracked and the kitchen was poorly equipped. There was no outside sitting area or balcony. The cleaners did a good job but really I feel the accomodation should be refurbished without delay I really don't think they could dream of getting away with another season as they are (unless we were just unlucky with ours!). The children slept on a hard sofa bed which was barely long enough.
To summarise - ideal location, Portugal a great holiday location, but wouldn't recommend Mouraliz until overhauled.

Apartments cleaned 5 x a week. Towels changed on request (just leave in bath).
Excellent private pool with key card pass. There was never more than eight people using the pool.
Interiors of apartments could do with a touch up but they are clean, cheap and cheerful plus great location.
We booked on line with Travel Republic including Taxi transfers and would have no hesitation of using them again.
