Wonderful place
from pampered76
This hotel is an oasis of tranquility amidst a busy Italian tourist area. The owner, Carla, treats everyone as long standing friends and has a fabulous staff who help make any stay a real pleasure. Go, and if you're looking for a place to relax, unwind and be pampered you won't be disappointed.
Best Service Ever
from jc58
We spent a very relaxing 2 weeks at the Lord Byron. Carla,Enzo,Francesco,Massimo and Christopher couldn't have done any more to make us more welcomed. This is 5 star service in a 3 star hotel. We found the hotel to be v clean, the food was fine and there are options if you wish to eat in Forio. Our trips to the Posiedon complex of Beach and Spas were v special and still has us talking to our friends about it's uniqueness. We liked Forio - it felt less touristy and more Italian than other places (we know Italy pretty well given I'm first generation Italian) - yes it get's a bit busy and and there's the traffic, scooters etc but you are going to Italy ! Failed to understand the reviews that have criticised this Hotel - maybe they didn't enjoy the 'real' Italy. We will return.
Dreadful Hotel Lord Byron
from TaylorTaylor
We have just returned from a 10 day stay in Ischia at the Hotel Lord Byron. The hotel is rather shabby and the menu limited. The breakfast (self-service) is a coffee vending machine, croissants, stale bread, cheese and ham, and definitely not fresh juice. Veal or pasta most nights on the evening menu so best to eat out. The rooms are disappointing. No fridge, a tiny shower, sheets were changed only once in 10 days, doors to balconette did not fit well so aircon was ineffective and mosquitos were able to get in. Had to keep asking for towels for the bathroom, as the maid always took them but never replaced them. The bar at the hotel would not accept cash for drinks and lunchtime food, so everything had to be put on a room bill. This was annoying, as it was then difficult to work out where we stood with our money. When we came to pay the bill at the end of the stay a big fuss was made over us asking for copies of the signed bar receipts to check against the bill. In fact, there were items added to our bill that hadn't been signed for! Beaches are a bus ride or taxi ride away and mostly shingle. Taxi journeys are expensive, so bus is much cheaper option. On a trip to Pompeii with the local boat tour we were charged an extra 10 euros for an english speaking tour guide as they do not cater for english speakers, only italian and german. The thermal spa centres are very clean, but again very expensive at 28euros per person. When we got in and went on to the private beach there weren't any sunbeds provided only deckchairs. Restaurants in Ischia town are very good and reasonably priced. In Forio there are very few restaurants, so it proved best to travel out of town. If you're looking for a touch of luxury and value for money, you'd be best to avoid this. We wont be returning.
great place!!

We stayed 3 nights at Lord Byron in Forio! A lovely hotel, clean, accommodating staff. Carla is very helpful. A very nice pool...We would definitely stay there again.
Words alone cannot do it justice!
from PJBear
As I say in the title, words alone do not do this hotel justice, you have to be there to experience the whole thing. Service is 5* in an underated 3* hotel. I arranged my own flights and also booked direct with the hotel who also arranged my return transfers from the airport to the hotel using taxis and the hydrofoil. Smooth operation, no hassle, would definitely recommend. The hotel is nestled on the edge of a busy port/town yet remains an oasis of peace. There are bus stops outside the hotel, it is a 10 minute leisurely walk to the sea front and on the way you pass a multitude of loveley shops catering for all tastes and desires ranging from small supermarkets to designer boutiques. Expect and get a warm welcome, the information given is great and you are shown to your room by friendly staff who are always there to answer questions. The rooms do vary in size and appointment, but rest assured whish ever room you have it is kept very clean, the beds are comfortable and the bathrooms newly replaced. I booked a room with a balcony which overlooked the pool and had a fantastic view of the mountain behind. The staff at the hotel are for me what makes the place, Carla (the owner) is like a mother hen making sure you are having a great time, Francesco & Christopher alternate provide great food and drink at the poolside area and are friendly, attentive and great fun! Enzo heads up the restaurant and is very helpful over menu choices and explanations, Massimiliano (front of desk) is ever helpful (as well as good looking) and has a fantastic mum called Rita who is the amazingly talented beauty therapist at the hotel. All I can say about Rita is I wanted to take her home with me, although slight in stature she has the hands of a true masseuse and after treatments with her I floated out of the spa area. I tried loads of treatments and was very pleased with all of them. Food is good, honest italian cooking, I enjoyed pasta I had never seen before and every night there is a buffet to start with that at least 6 different dishes to choose from before your starter. Breakfast was the usual continental but with amazingly good croissant and very good coffee. You can have lunch around the pool area, tea/coffee served for at least 18/24 hrs, local wine was great. All parts of the hotel were kept very clean, including the pool and outside areas. There were plenty of tables & chairs and shady areas for those that needed them. Thermal pool in the spa area free for all. The evening entertainment was fantastic, the singer was so good she should have entered the Italian X Factor! There was lots to do on the island and boat trips from the island were plentiful, I went on my own and just relaxed the whole time apart from a coach trip to Sorrento/Amalfi/Positano, which I would not recommend if you wanted a leisurely stay in each of these places. If you want that, do individual boat trips from Forio harbour. If i had a complaint it would be I DID NOT STAY FOR LONG ENOUGH! and to rectify that matter I have booked to take my husband back there for a week in September and do some of the boat trips to other places. The hotel will do anything in its power to make your holiday great, to get the best you have to relax, wind down, chill out and go with the flow.
Fantstic find
from KaySurreyUK
I am a travel agent in th UK & although i have traveled Italy extensively, Ischia was unknown ground. The Island is beautiful far nicer than Capri, not so prentetious & certainly not so expensive, infact i found prices the prices in bars & restaurants more then reasonable. The Lord Byron is a real little gem of a Hotel & although only rated 3* it was far better then many 4* Hotels i have stayed in,everything from front reception to hotel maids was 1st class Carla (The owner) is an absolute delight, there really was'nt anything she would'nt do to help enhance your stay. Christopher makes fantastic bellini's & Francesco is great,as were the 2 waiters in the restaurant.Rita in the Spa certainly knows how to give a great facial & massage. So Lord Byron & all of her staff a big thankyou. My holiday was superb.

My Little Piece of Heaven
from litab
Writing this after my second visit to this hotel. I have read some reviews and have to agree with all of them. Carla is such a sweet person and her staff are very, very friendly and really cannot do enough to make your stay perfect. Lovely food - fish and pasta are to die for. Forio wine is very moorish. Forio is a lovely little town with just the right amount of shops!! Get ready Carla, I will of course be back next summer as I cant think of anywhere else I would rather go for a warm welcome, sunshine and relaxation.
It's home from home

I have just returned from a fabulous "girly week" with two friends that I met this past May at this delightlful family run hotel. Having spent several years in the travel business in Canada I know that people expect an honest critic. I can say that Carla, the English owner, along with her family and vibrant young staff made me feel like I was returning home. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The hotel is in the centre of Forio which has a full complement of amenites but for me it has the best of both worlds as it is in a quiet location. The hotel offers good value for money, the rooms are spotless, great in house "well being" facilities, the service is excellent and the hotel offers good basic Italian food (they even catered for me when I did not want the daily special and offered me an alternative). How many hotels do that? Carla has exciting plans for refurbishing the hotel in readiness for 2007 which includes updating the bathrooms in the main building and introducing an a la carte menu. Can't wait - have booked again next year and am planning to invite a Canadian friend to join us as I know she won't be disappointed.
What more can I say.....

Having just returned from my second trip to the Lord Byron, it felt like being back at home. A wonderful friendly hotel where the staff are only too pleased to be able to help. This is a wellbeing hotel and the sense of 'feeling ok' is apparent everywhere. A wonderful lady adminsters massage etc, (slight but strong!), a smiling barman always on hand with the wine, the waiters are fantastic, the receptionists provide anything one needs ( I particularly admired Max's dancing), and as for Carla the Manager, I could not fault any aspect of the lady and her Customer Service, she is wonderful. See you all again next year.

Travelled with Solitair on my first singles holiday, to Ischia. Totally superb. Couldn't fault Lord Byron or any of it, except I wished I'd have booked 2 weeks instead of 1. Hotel Lord Byron was great, excellent food, great location and superb Italian hospitality!!... more
