George & Dawn Hotel Reviews
" My husband and I are young 50 year... "
Submitted By: Mrs L M Thomas
My husband and I are young 50 year olds and we stayed at the George and Dawn Hotel in Aghios Sostis on Zante during the Whitsun half term. We had an excellent time.
I could not fault it at all. Nothing was too much trouble. We stayed in a mezzene and used the upstairs to sleep and downstairs to live although we were out and about most of the time. Dawn serves food at any time of day and seems whatever you want from the pool bar.
Aghios Sostis is only about 10 mins drive from Laganas but we did not go there at all because it is not our scene. However the beach at Kalamaki is lovely and there are some apartments right on the beach which allow you to use their facilities which we did a couple of times.
Where we were was so quiet in the country yet only a 10 min walk to the beach and resort centre which was very small but with plenty going on.
We ate on the front every night and would recommend Sirocco and Syrtaki. We took the trip with Manthos to see the turtles which I thoroughly enjoyed and also went to Port Vromi and took a boat trip to the smugglers beach which again was quite idyllic.
Our favourite beach was Kaminia (or Kamakia) on the east coast south of Argassi and north of Port Zorro. It was quiet with a taverna right on the beach and FREE sunbeds either on the grass or the beach. It took about 30 mins to get there.
We did most of the island as it is so small but we liked our area the best.
I would recommend Zante and the George and Dawn hotel very highly and would definitely stay there again.

Dawn seems to be cooking all day long, but still finds time for a chat and a laugh with the guests. George is busy running his shop downstairs, so you don't go far for your supplies!!
Hope you are all ther next year, Georgina & Vic XXX
