Despina Villa

.Very hard to find as the you can see the rear of the studios from the road but there is no sign, you have to go up a no entry road which is a no through road! push open the gate which says no entry and then you can see the studios with the sign, no car parking allowed you have to use the nearby beach car park.
The caretaker and his wife live here are OK but speak no English so it is difficult to communicate, but once they understand what you need or want it is done.
Despina is used by a German company and Med Hotels on my stay there were no English.The rooms are spacious with plenty of furniture and the catering equipment is the usual Geek basic stuff but we did have a Kettle and manage to cook in every night,
the tavernas are expensive. The TV has no English stations.
Most of the balconies have sea views and get good early morning sunshine which was very hot until lunchtime, then you can use the pool area for sun bathing but the studios lose the sunshine about 2 hours before the other end of Kamari due to the high mountain at the back.
Despina is in a good quiet location( just a few barking dogs), but near to beach, tavernas and supermarkets the Big Discount store seemed the best which is about 15min walk. There is no bar or snack bar and no pool rules to obey which was good you can bring in what you want without those daggered looks! The airport noise is no problem and I enjoyed watching the planes coming in to land from our balcony.
The caretaker is a bit absent minded he forgets where he puts things forgets to make the beds, used my wifes face cloth for cleaning! used our washing up liqiud for cleaning and you have to ask to get the very grey towels changed, you also have to buy in toilet rolls after the initial one is used.
Santorini is a small island full of Japanese and American tourist, the cruise ships stop at Thira, the beaches are poor with dark shingle or pepples but the views of th Caldera from Thira and Santos Wines near Pyrgos are fantastic.
