Anseli Apartments Reviews

After reading previous reviews of these apartments(we booked late)we kept our fingers crossed hoping it would be better than what we had read, sadly things were not that good at the start.
Our party of 4 did not have the 2 rooms available for us so we had to share for the first night or be driven to another apartment for that night, we chose to stay, although others did not have that choice so went elsewhere.Free breakfast was offered by the owners (this was toast) but we pushed for the full breakfast this was fine and we had a complimentry drink the following evening.
As with most Greek apartments it was very basic, this was not a problem for us but the cleanliness was, the floors inside and out were not cleaned after the previous holiday makers left, I find it very didtastefull to find LOTS of different hair and nails on the floor that didn't belong to us!!! The pool and surrounding area is small but quite pretty.be aware the pool is very deep so not suitable for kids.
These apartments reminded us of Faulty Towers in the sense that the bar and eating area was very 70,s, this made us smile as did the planes, when the travel brochures state" that some aircraft noise may be experienced"they lied as we were in the direct flight path, at times close enough to see the pilot! The food is good and well worth a try.
To be fair the staff are very friendly and helpful as were the many people that we met.
On the whole we did have a fab break.

well where do i start!!!!!!! these people who run this hotel have not got a clue !! they blatantly lie and fob you off when you go to them with any issues, it started when we first got there we had booked 2 rooms an they had only saved us 1 they said they had only had confirmation of one part of my bookin an tried to put our other party in a different hotel i would not accept this so they put him in our room for the 1st 3 days of our holiday (granted they gave us free brekkie for 3 days but it is hardly the point )i thought this was maybe a one off but the same thing happened again 5 more times in the week we were there!!! the pool was never cleaned once while we were there an the holiday makers where fishin bugs an leaves out of the pool on numerous occasions to my knowledge.the carpets in the corridors are not fitted right an constantly trip up the children, the games room which is advertised as part of this hotel is non existant its just an empty room! the entertainment was all cancelled even though its advertised an the only excuse was its because the neighbours complain!! the only saving grace at all to this place is the excellent ENGLISH barman who quite frankly is far too good for this place and they even do not appreciate him droppin his pay by half while we were there because of the lack of people in the bar (which was their own fault due to cancelling entertainment)if he has any sense he will soon leave this sinkin ship an then all will be lost.i could go on but its already an essay please people think long and hard before you book here the only people who will be happy here are old people (sorry) but only because they will love the peace an nothin to do but then the down side to that is that there are not a lot of tavernas an restaurants nearby either.

Very poor hotel. Upon arrival a young gentleman shouted at us (there were 4 of us in total) as her suitcase pulled up the carpet that had not been properly laid in the first place. We entered the room and a dead cockroach was found on the floor by the bathroom door and the room had clearly not been cleaned properly in about 3 weeks, if that. We took a moment to sit down to take in the greek atmosphere when a low-flying aircraft shakes the whole building and blows the palm trees at speeds of about 200mph across the building. Luckily the rooms did not get too hot at night so airconditioning was not needed as the tornado from the aircrafts kept us cool, although we could not keep the patio doors open as the smell of gone-off food floated through to door, day and night. We found saucepans in the bushes and some younger children decided it would be funny (much to our NON amusement) to squirt a whole bottle of factor 30 suncream all over the patio doors, followed by heinz ketchup. The amount of skids in the toilet was unreal, and last but not least, there is no hot water in the building after 8pm at night. This is no good if you are getting ready to go out in the evening, and I will not be visiting the hotel again. The best part of the holiday was collecting our bags and flying home.

When we arrived at the hotel it was very late in the night but never-the-less there was someone at the desk ready to take us to our rooms. The room was very basic but regulary cleaned and came with air-conditioning.The hospitality was great and the family that ran the hotel were always very helpful. The bar man Tony was very cheery and always had a smile and there was always something going on at the bar most nights. The pool was great and cleaned everyday, it had a small diving board that all the kids loved, the sun beds round the pool were free and ideal to watch the kids and catch a bit of sun! Kremasti itself is only a 5 minute walk from the apartments and was full off pubs, restaurants and bars to go to, but none of them rowdy, so you were never stuck for choice. I recomend the Grande Classico, it is wonderful and at the end of the meal we got free fruit platters. The beach, also about 5 minutes from the apartments, although pebbly is wonderful! You can hire sun beds for 3 euro a day from a nice man called Niko there is also a beach taverna that sold wonderful food, they do the best chicken gyros! Rhodes is the most beautiful place in Kremasti and you can go by taxi or bus which is only 2 euro pp. The old town is the best part of Rhodes really traditional and lots to see! The harbour in Rhodes is also very nice, I took an hour cruise around the harbour on a glass bottomed boat and strongly advice it! One thing i must say is take insect repellent, when we were out and about my mum got bitten at least 15 times! Overall i had a good time, and recommend it to all!

Was very disappointed. Rooms very basic, sink hadn't been cleaned, or anything probably.
The cot we were supposed to have was a wooden sofa type chair with mdf board as the base which was sticking out over the chair about 3 foot, and wasn't even level, not suitable for 1 1/2 year old baby.
Anyway, within an hour, we'd decided we couldn't stay here, so booked privately, our usual spot at Esmeralda’s along the road, which is very very modern, clean, and enjoyable. Had a sleep at Anseli then left by lunchtime.
Plenty entertainment was advertised for this hotel, but not party loud music all night and keep everyone from sleeping entertainment.
Overall, disappointed. - and cost us £200 of holiday money to change plans independently.

The only major downfall of this accommodation is the pool. If you are picking this accommodation simply because you want a pool on site= choose somewhere else, as it is small, very shady and grubby. You can use accommodation down the road where there is a better pool area, but to be honest, the beach at kremasti is amazing, and to sit around a concrete sweaty area is a shame when you see what the beach has to offer.
The accommodation owners are really welcoming, as are most greek family owned accommodation owners, and they do go out of their way to make you feel welcome. The accommodation really could do with a major refurb though as is has seen better days, but the rooms are clean, linen changed etc, and the entertainment is ok if you like that sort of thing!
It's a great base, a little down the back streets, but use it just as a base, get out and about and see what beautiful rhodes has to offer. Kremasti is a little stuck for tavernas if you like the typical greek variety, but there are a few,- a good one is down the side of the town square out of the way- proper greek cuisine in a proper greek atmosphere, and good prices too, - locals eat here so you can tell it must be good!
all in all, we would go back to the anseli, if the price was right, but there is better accommodation.
Advice: Kremasti is fabulous for the gorgeous gentle warm wind constantly blowing from the coast
Activities: zorbas, in kremasti, but tour the island, - get a car it is easy to get around
Good for: Beach
