Semeli Hotel

Wow. This place is not much to look at as you walk up to it, but once inside, it is great. The lobby and restaurant area are very charming. A short walk to our room down a small walkway and we were astounded. The room was 3 floors. A bedroom on the top and bottom, each with a bath and a middle floor with a living area. Ours looked out over the pool. A note of caution though. We booked an ocean view room and apparently even if all you see is a sliver of the water as we did, that qualifies. This is my 7th time to Mykonos and have stayed in a variety of different hotels around Hora, and even on other pars of the island and this is by far the best place i have stayed at. We booked with the hotel directly and got a better deal than published rates for a room for 4 people, getting such a great deal in the busiest week of the year meant that we were given a room without a view however the rate was a great consolation. also, it was very difficult to find a room for 4 people. We were there in offseason, and were expecting quiet..but while the rooms were pretty nice, the value wasn't there. It was over 200 Euro, and we were put in a room with a view, but right over a kids playground that had constant basketball and skateboarding 24/7, so opening the balcony doors to see the view was just irritating in the morning, in the evening etc.. We did ask the staff to address the midnight basketball, and they did, but it continued the next morning at 9:00 am . The other issue I had was they "felt" closed down. They... more

Semeli Hotel despite the sound of it's name, actually looks beautiful and has a very nice scent from the foliage they planted. We booked this hotel via an agent of IVIS travel in Athens. Not only did we have a lovely room but a beautiful view too. The balcony was quiet despite being the room next to the pool (Rm. 421) Unfortunately the view is marred somewhat from television antenna from the houses around, but all in all it's quite nice, and the sunset view is something you don't want to miss. Stayed here for 3 days out of season in April. Room rate was 100 euros a night but we heard that rates rocket in the summer to 2 or 3 times as much. Room was nicely decorated and comfortable with small sofa, coffe table, balconey and mini bar with soft drinks and beer. Pale pastal colours were used giving a lovely clean, fresh and light feel to the room. Our room did not have a seaview, but looking out on to the playground, trees and houses was certainly not unplesent. Other rooms may have great views, worth checking this... more

The Semeli is a lovely hotel -- charming rooms, great location, great food and helpful staff. But the week we were there the hotel was packed with guests in their late teens and early twenties visiting from Athens. It was a loud, boisterous crowd who played music all day -- and it appeared that the actual Semeli guests had invited a lot of people from other hotels to hang out as well. Couldn't get near the pool, and -- as a 40-ish American -- felt distinctly out of place.

Spent 2 nights at the Hotel Semeli in Mykonos during our trip in Greece (April 20-22). Good location and views! You can walk EVERYWHERE from the hotel. Rooms were comfortable and larger than we expected. Gourmet restaurant! Breakfast buffet was yummy. Very helpful staff. Great pool and bar. This was the off-season, so we had the place nearly to ourselves. We heard that it is packed during the season. Only downside for some may be the noise from the playground below the hotel, and we did notice alot of flies hovering near our room.... more

We have just spent 5 days at the "Semeli" - it was wonderful. We would highly reccomend it for anyone going to Mykonos. We know it is hard to find a hotel so far away, so, we hope this will help anyone with their choice. The location couldn't have been better. The hotel is just lovely- the decor is sophisticated, yet comfortable. The pool is great. And, last, but certainly not least, the restaurant was delicious and reasonably priced. Our trip was a great success and we feel it was because of our accomodations.

Spent part of our honeymoon at the Semeli October 2003. The hotel itself is beautiful-- sophisticated yet homey, very warm and welcoming. The staff is friendly and helpful. And the restaurant? AMAZING! I especially recommend the chocolate soufle. Easily one of the best restaurants we've ever eaten at on Mykonos (my 4th visit to the island).
