Just got back from staying in Los Tulipanes apts. I suppose it has to be said you get what you pay for. We payed £402 for my wife and I with our 2 year old daughter for a week, that included the flight as well. The layout of the pools and bar is very pleasant and we had a room on the ground floor in front of the first pool. As we first entered the room it did smell a bit musty and also of stale cigarette smoke. There was a cooker with two rings (one didn't work), toaster, coffee maker and tv. There was no remote for the tv but we didn't watch it much anyway. The room seemed quite clean and was cleaned five times but we only got our towels changed once and thats only after asking. The towels definitely need replacing they just seemed to spread the water around. We had problems with the shower and bath, firstly we couldn't get water to come out of the shower but they quickly replaced the shower unit. The pressure was still very low and you dont get much hot water. Secondly the bath, I tried to run a bath for my daughter but the water was leaking out of one of the many holes that had been patched up. They did reseal the holes but you have to ask how bad does it have to get before the bath is replaced. On the whole the bathroom was awful, and why only one light above the sink? It made the bathroom seem dark, dank and depressing. We sat round the pool area a couple of times but if you want to have a swim it's freezing. The apts are well situated just 6 or 7 minutes walk from the beach and main drag. I think if the rooms were given a bit of an upgrade especially the bathroom this would be an ideal place to stay.

We booked a cheap holiday, I think a lot of people are booking cheap holidays and expecting 5* apartment/complex's!!
The rooms were clean and tidy, our TV only had BBC News and the volume did not work, but who wants to watch TV on holiday?
When we arrived reception was closed, common sense told us to go to bar, and Danny made us feel very welcome and gave us our key and showed us the way to the apartments.
One of the hotels greatest features is Danny, he has a way of getting all the residents to mingle with each other and enjoy themselves in the bar, he does basic food, which is frozen or an omelette.
Obviously if you want something else it is a cheap ride in a taxi to the town or a ten minute walk. I would recommend a visit to Charlie’s Bar for a drink.
Overall I thought that the holiday was great, I would suggest that you take your own towel for after a shower and if you go in December or January I would suggest that you take some warm pyjamas as the rooms can be very cold in the evenings, despite it being lovely during the day.
I would definitely recommend these apartments again and I think that Danny is great and an asset to the bar, he does however need some lessons on swearing in English!! If he doesn’t remember your name he may call you Blondie or something similar.

The apartments looked ok from the outside but when you opened the door you were greeted by a musty smell that always greeted us when the maids had cleaned the room (think they might need new mops and cleaner water).
The shower stayed hot until you were all lathered up in soap so you had in rinse in cold water didn’t matter what time you used the shower. There was a TV in the room with no remote so we couldn’t turn it up as all the buttons had come of the front, but we did learn to lip read!
The man on reception was as much use as a chocolate watch, he didn’t help us out with anything we asked of him. However Danny behind the bar was good fun and he did help us to get more pillows after we had asked reception 2 days on the run. So we would pop in and see Danny again when we go back to Lanzarote.
There are some lovely bars but the best one has to the Place Bar right on the beach front. The staff are great and nothing is too much trouble. It’s a great place to watch the sunset with a bottle of wine or 2. Also the Musical Tavern is a must, great show - well worth the money.
On the whole we booked a cheap holiday apartment, could have been better but we were never there, but you get what you pay for.

Just returned from holiday booked with Jet2. Have flown with them several times but this is the first package holiday we've booked with them. There was no problem with flights as usual but the apartment we stayed in was no way 3 stars, even 2 stars would be too many. The bathroom was a disgrace. There were patches of rust in the bath which were badly concealed by white blobs. The shower was of the plastic variety and very dated. The cistern was cracked and the toilet seat had discolouration marks on it. The tiles did not look clean.
The bedroom smelled liked wet dogs. The apartment itself was spacious and kitchen and living area were ok. We stayed for 7 nights and had to ask at reception after the 4th night when the apartment would be cleaned. We were told the maid only sweeps the floor, puts the rubbish out and makes the beds. That day she did exactly that. We felt if we hadn't asked it would not have been done. The apartment was swept the next day and that was it was for cleaning. She didn't visit again after that. There was no change of towels or bed linen at any time. The towels as described in a previous review are totally non absorbent and smelled absolutely terrible by the end of the week. Fortunately we brought our own towels.
Staff were friendly and we got a warm welcome when we arrived. We paid a very low price for this holiday so got what we paid for but if it wasn't for the early booking we made the price would have been more than double and definitely not worth the money. We hired a car for the duration of the holiday and found these apartments were in a very convenient location to access all the main tourist spots north and south of the island and convenient for the airport and also within reasonable walking distance to the beach, shops and restaurants and there were plenty of parking spaces. Had the bathroom been in a better state and the towels and linen changed at least once we would've thought about returning.

Stayed in a 2 bedroom apt, no 34, myself wife &2 kids ages 13 & 4. Spacious apts could do with an upgrade but were very clean. No ants or cock roaches. Had a great time weather was red hot . 2 pools not heated not very big but ok. 1 kids pool very small with a little bridge over it leading to the pool table. Danny the barman is fantastic great sense of humour & cooks a mean breakfast 2 of everything for about 6 Euros. It’s about a 15 min walk 2 the main beach. But there are some nice little coves a lot closer. Karaoke on wed a good laugh+ a barbeque, didn’t try the barby. I’m sure there is better places to stay but for the price I thought it was great & would go back again. Met some great people. A great atmosphere.

I was a bit concerned about the previous reviews of this resort - until I read them!
We managed to get a last minute deal for less than £200 per person, and I was very pleasantly surprised by the condition of the apartment and the complex in general.
The staff were very friendly, the apartment was clean and tidy, the pool area was kept clean - I have no complaints whatsoever.
It's about a 5 minute walk down to the seafront so no distance really and there's a Spar supermarket at the bottom of Calle Italia with everything you need.
I was a little disappointed with the lack of Spanish food in the area, as all the restaurants seem to cater purely for British tastes, but the food was generally very good and reasonably priced.
We found that by hiring a car and travelling there were some much more "Spanish" restaurants to be found though - but beware the motorway into Arrecife!
So, for the apartment I had no complaints. The bathroom was basic and fairly old, but who cares? I didn't go on holiday to inspect the quality of someone else's grouting!
The kitchen had a double hotplate, oven/grill, toaster and coffee maker, along with a fridge with icebox, and enough pots and pans to create decent meals.
The only drawback seemed to be that Lanzarote doesn't really produce much in the way of groceries, so everything's a bit pricey!
The towels are particularly non-absorbent, so it's not a bad idea to bring your own.
And bring some things to read - Canarias TV is beyond bad! Although watching films in Spanish is sometimes quite funny...
Overall I highly recommend this resort if you're after a cheap sunny break.

Having just arrived home from a last minute holiday at the Los Tulipanes apts, (& having read some off putting reports on the net), I must say how pleasantly surprised we were.
Although in need of refurbishment, they were clean & well looked after. You only get what you pay for!
The staff were very helpful & the pool bar was great for snacks & drinks.
Across the road at the back of the apts. was a newly opened tapas bar, The Andurina, which was great & stayed open later than the pool bar.
Their snacks were more traditional & the owners were very helpful. It's well worth a few visits!

We went for the New Year. I had read 3 days before going, that the apartments were not that great, and that the heated swimming pool was not!
So emailed apartments, who informed that the pool was solar powered, again on arrival this did appear to be the case and requested an apartment on the pool side. Which we got.
Ours was not that bad, apart from the bathroom, which is an extremely bad condition, all the enamel was worn from the bath and toilet and under the bed was thick with dust.
Oh and I know what you mean about the towels, would recommend that you take your own, plus ours got taken by the maid, never returned, and when asked for them, reception just shrugged their shoulders!
Bar and pool table very old and in desperate need of work, but the bar manager was very pleasant.
It is quite a walk from the main strip, but cabs are very cheep, but we did seem to have to wait a while, when ordering them from reception.
In general the apartments are OK, don't think that I would rush back there though!

This accommodation has a 2-Key logo on display and I would even say that was ambitious!
They are certainly not as good as the adjacent 'La Laguneta II', where we have stayed on previous occasions and which drew us back to this part of PDC.
The apartments (there are 37) are a decent size in a good quiet location, within easy reach of all amenities, but they need to upgrade their old-fashioned furniture and fittings, especially lighting, bedding and towels, soft furnishings.
The bathroom was dingy, dark and had water damage and staining to the ceiling and loose tiles due to water leaks from the apartment above. It has no window and the extractor fan obviously had not worked for years!
The bath had rusty chips painted over and the usual problems of poor water pressure/lack of hot water. The towels supplied are dreadful and only spread the water about on your skin until it evaporates!
However, staff were friendly and helpful enough, with sheets/towels changed twice a week and maid service 6 days a week. There is no 24-hour reception and do not rely on the advertised times for reception being open, it's a bit haphazard. The pool barman holds keys for those arriving out of hours.
The complex is squeezed into a small L-shaped area and has 2 pools and a kiddie-pool, but the trees and vegetation in front of and on our apt and those above, has taken over a bit and needs cutting back.
Some balconies are almost completely covered by Bougainvillaea. Some idea of this can be seen by the pic on this website and these plants have increased in size since that was taken!
IF these apartments were to be upgraded (especially the bathroom), I would consider returning there again, as they are basically sound and in a good location.
Although I would not want to be in the ones furthest from reception, as they do not face any of the pools and are stuck in a corner, looking out onto a street at the front and close to a high wall, pool toilets and showers at the back!

Stayed here in August 2006 with my boyfriend - we were initially allocated an apartment to the right hand side of the pool bar - it was awful, extremely narrow and claustrophobic, with a view from the bedroom window of a wall no more than 5ft away from us. We asked to be moved the next day and were allocated a first floor apartment overlooking the pool - what a huge transformation; it was like two different complexes. This apartment was bright and airy and super spacious, very nice indeed.
The only downside is that it's about a ten minute walk down to the strip, but with taxi's only being about three/four Euro it's not too bad.
The pool area in the complex is really lovely, very pretty and clean. Our towels were changed a few times a week and the apartment cleaned 6 days per week. I would definitely recommend Los Tulipanes, but be sure to ask for an apartment overlooking the pool area.

we went for one week, to these appartments. DO NOT WALK IN THE DARK FROM RESTAURANTS, as we were followed and robbed in our appartment. we lost everything we had no money. The thief was in our bedroom as we slept, we lost our mobile, digital camera and all our money. My two handbags were found in the grounds. we had to get money wired from home. we spent the next four days visiting the police station and western union, making statements & getting money wired. the reception were no help to us appart from phoning reps, who were no good as it was Sunday. we met two other couples at the police station who were robbed as well. they were staying in other hotels.
