My partner and I booked a last minute holiday in April 09. We stayed in the Los Tulipanes Apartments. We arrived at 09.30PM to find the reception closed. We had to get the key to our room by a guy working in the bar. We didn't show him our passports or anything so we coudl have been anyone!
The reception was always closed. They also had a shop - if you could call it that. But it was pointless being there because it was part of the reception, which was always closed. So the hotel never checked us in properly or saw our passports, which is standard procurement in the Canary Islands.
The rooms are basic but clean and liveable. I found it odd that were we given the room furthest away from the pool, bar area, which was right next to the main road right on the end. There were bushes on our balcony that cut the view off from the pool area.
The swimming pools were so freezing cold, I didn't have a dip once. They were ridicoulsy cold!
But what made our holiday so horrible was that fact that our apartment was broken into whilst we were sleeping, on the last night of our holiday. They came in through the balancy, which was made very easy for them because below the balcony was the roof of the recption, which made it very easy for whoever to claim up. They took our ipods, cameras, watches and money.
When we reported it to the hotel reception (which was actually open!) in the morning, it all seemed really dodgy. The guy at the reception was so unhelpful and tried to persuade us to go straight to the airport and not the Police station to report the theft! They even tried to get us to sign a piece of paper to say that it was our fault because the balcony was left unlocked - as if that gives someone to come into our apartment when we're in the apartment sleep!!
If you ask me they were in on it. It just all seems very convieniant that we were given that room and that we were robbed on our last night.
I would advise that you don't stay here!! Getting broken into ruined our holiday and I do not trust this hotel.

we booked these apartments on the fact that it states the pool is heated the pool was in a state and not heated ! the all complex was damp and depressing even the bar area. the room we had room 29 was a joke i had to go down and ask for fresh towels and the sheets were changed once! the tv did not work the rain leaked through the window all over the bedroom floor and as for the reception i went down to change some money and had to wait 5mins whilst the bar man and lady behind the desk were having a argument!! really spoilt the holiday as we had to go down to the beach everyday to relax. lanzarote it self was fab as usausl but we now know to stay in a place's we have stopped before such as the cinco plaza or atalaya

Booked late so unsure what we were geting but was clean and tidy staff were very friendly danni at bar was a scream but you have to be up for some taunting but was one of the highlights of the holiday pool certainly was not heated but was refreshing to say the least overall typical spanish apartments maybe just a little to far from beach for people who do not like walking to beach/strip (about 10 mins) but would certainly go back again

We are due to arrive on 9th Oct and this will be our 6th visit to Los Tulipanes. We enjoy being at Los Tulipanes because the staff are very friendly and helpful, (especially Danni). The large pool is heated but the small one is not, it is great to jump in after laying in the sun on one of the many sun beds that are available. While basic, the apartments are clean and more than adequate. The bar is right by the pool area and it is great to lay in the sun with a large beer at hand. The bar also does food and Danni will fix you a smashing Pizza, Burger, Chips and a lot of other stuff. I enjoy the Cheese and Ham toastie. It is close enough to the main shopping area and beach and far enough away to be nice and quiet at night. It is perfect to chill out in a nice quiet atmosphere.

My friend Yoss & I stayed here in 2001, and it was fantastic. The BBQ was excellent (the barman a bit unusual), but we had a great time. We are going back next month, this time with the blort (wife) - and still my mate Yoss. Roll on the vodkas!!!!!
Looking forward to the camels, and the blort getting the chip pan on!!

These apartments were basic but clean. The towels were a bit shabby and as previously stated did not dry you very well. Some construction work was getting carried out behind the apartments which was quite noisy and started early in the morning - on some occasions this was my alarm call. It is really windy at nights which resulted in the apartments being quite dusty. The breeze during the day was very welcoming as it was very hot. The reception staff were very helpful when required and overall I found the apartments ok. Plenty of sunbeds but yes pool was quite cold.
And yes the previous reviews were spot on about Danny, he was very funny and charming and had a real talent for getting everyone to mix well with one another. I have to say that the barman Icesar has his own special talents too which deserve some praise - especially singing on the Karaoke (ha ha). The only negative I have was the lack of entertainment in the evening within the apartments. The only entertainment was on a Wednesday which was a bbq and Karaoke - fab night but Danny and Icesars special qualities need to be put to more use.
I was on holiday with my sister who has learning disabilities and would like to say a big thankyou to Danny and staff for making her feel so involved especially on the Karaoke.
Would definitely go back!!

Stayed in these apartments mid june. Noisy buiding work going on by apartments lots of dust around at times so not very pleasant!
When we arrived it was REALLY windy, so beware. No rain the whole 11 days we were there.
The apartment itself was not 2 bad for a 2*. no lock on bathroom door so when windows were open door wouldnt stay closed!
Bath not very pleasent nor the towels would definately reccomend taking your own towels.
We stayed for a total of 11nites and our bed linen was changed 3 times!
Pools very nice plenty of sun beds to go around. Happy hour at bar very good.
We are a young couple in our 20s, we loved Puerto Del Carmen and would definately go back, but would stay in different apartments.
We had no problem with violence or mugging walking back either during the day or in the early hours after a night out.
Would reccomend Jaspers as a very friendly irish/English bar, great happy hour and enertainment daily. Jaspers also do a deal when going to the market, for 15euro you get the transport to and from the market plus a roast dinner which was huge! Great value for money.
Lots of places to eat and drink, plenty of cocktail bars.
Overall we had an amazing holiday but would have preferred a different place 2 stay a bit closer to strip. Here you do get a quiet nights sleep if you can ignore the road being dug up at 8am!

The apartments were clean, basic and great value for money. The location was central to the main strip but far enough away to have a quiet night's rest. Unfortunately, there was some building work going on behind the apartments which could be noisy at times. Also, I wish someone had told us about the crime rate in Puerto Del Carmen, as it can be dangerous to walk up the side streets to your hotel at night, particularly Los Tulipanes. My boyfriend was attacked and beaten up for 50 euros. I would advise paying the 2 euros in a taxi home after a night out. Nightlife was good and local restaurants really nice, the best being lui's bar and grill. Puerto Del carmen itself was an excellent location and I'd definetely go back, but be more aware of the crime.

Just got back from a weeks holiday and had a great time an extra 2 on the rating for dann who was a fantastic bar manager. The rooms were basic but when you book you know you are not going 5* swimming pools felt cold but once you were in it was fine, (watch out for dan you may get in a little quicker than you intended)
The only problem was the outside shower block when you have a late flight home could have been much better.
On the whole a good cheap basic place to stay, and yes he (dan) did call you blondie but who could take offence from such a lovely person

We booked this holiday a year in advance having had a disappointing holiday in Cornwall (due to weather), so were very much looking forward to it. When we arrived, I was very shocked at the state of the apartment. It was very gloomy, with a balcony overlooking the rubbish at the back of the apartments. The bathroom was clean but unfortunately the bath and shower area left something to be desired. The bath had rusty holes in it, and the tiles had mould stuck inbetween them, and the shower curtain needed replacing. Showering on an evening was not a pleasant event! The sheets and towels were replaced after three days, but unfortunately after that it was a further week, and then we had to ask. The beds were not very comfy and also on our arrival our door did not lock properly. We had to get reception to come out and fix it, which they did the following day. In the description of the apartments it states there is a playground and heated pool - there is neither (just for you families with young children thinking of going here). There was a pool table however, but this and the balls was weathered and in need of replacing.
I would recommend these cheap and cheerful apartments to young people who don't necessarily care about where they stay. For families again, if you care about where you are staying this is not suitable for you. I would say that on the last night I had a lumumba drink from the bar which was lovely!! I did not let the apartment spoil the holiday for myself, husband and 3 year old son, but will not be going back in a hurry!!

We arrived around 12 at night and there was a sign telling us to collect our room key at the bar, which was shut! we waited for about 15 mins and then somebody appeared. That was the only fault with Los Tulipanes.
The staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was right by the pool and everything about it was nice and clean. We went to the beach once but it was crowded and not great, but u dont really need it when the pool is so good. There was lots of sunchairs, a good pool bar and even in august hardly anyone was sitting around it!
It was about a 10 minute walk down to the strip. There was hundreds of restaurants, bars and cafes. Loads of choice. The restaurant below the casino is great, right by the sea and huge cocktails!
Overall the holiday was really good i would definite recomend Los Tulipanes.

The main thing that makes Los Tulipanes the best place to stay on the island is the amazing pool bar staff. Danny and Aissa really make the place. If it wern't for them being there Los Tulipanes would just be very basic. The apartments themselves are very basic and kept clean by the cleaning staff however, the security of the apartments is bad. I would strongly advice if you stay here you invest in a safe. Night life is pretty good on the island. Danny makes everyone feel welcome so your instantly at ease. This place is really worth staying at!!!
