My girlfriend and I have just come back from a week's break at this hotel. The hotel itself is clean and tidy, if a little tired, but a nice looking building. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The manager was really nice. Most don't speak English as well as they do... more

The hotel name is ‘Ambar Beach hotel and Spa’ but there is no spa at this location. We specifically chose this hotel so if the weather was bad we would be able to use the spa facilities. Due to the rain during our holiday (not the hotel’s fault) the paths were... more

Just returned from spending one of the best Christmas’s abroad all thanks to the Ambar Beach hotel. Our family could not fault anything about the hotel. Even though the hotel was 80% german what refreshing change from some loud mouth disrespectful British hotels. If... more

Just got back from Fuerteventura and the Ambar Beach Hotel was fantastic. Not sure what others are going on about on their reviews on this site and other sites. The path down to the beach has a tarmac surface (looks like it has been there a few years) so walking down is... more

We just wanted a break away in the sun & booked this as a last minute trip before the kids broke up. The hotel was very clean & pools were spotless. 10 minute walk to the beach down a self-made dirt track (no high heels). Beach was breathtaking with white sand & turquoise... more

Arrived at the hotel by rental car and was easy to find as well sign posted. The hotel is located in a small village called Butihondo, less than a 5 minute drive to Morro Jable. (Be aware that if you do hire a car instead of going for transfers, the drivers are nutters!).... more

well chilled out
ok first time ive ever wrote a review on a holiday but as ive just retuned from ambar beach thought id give it a go,especially as we used this site for a review from previous couple who where spot on with their review (think they went in may). first lets get the negatives out of the way, the resort is very german ,not that that is a problem just strange as normally all my trips abroad seem to have half of the uk on them. second night time entertainment was very limited which all of the brits we did find agreed. now for all the good bits hotel spot on even could be 5 star, sport facilities including a1 gym brill mind you out side pools a bit chilly to say the least but refreshing once you got used to .hotel management nothing to much trouble for them. all in food excellent although like all all in gets a bit "sameish" after while. resort spotless and clean, abit hilly( Ive got calf muscles like arnie after 2 weeks!! )if you want to just chill on hols by the pool this is the place for you, if you want to use great gym sauna spa facilities this is also the place for you ,if you want to party party then not the place for you although town is 10 mins in a taxi which is 5 euros but yet again apart from a british sports bar and a very good chinese restruant called chino town is a bit limited . over all come back with family well chilled well tanned but eldest daughter a bit bored . my recomendation if going with large party start your own party every night!!! ps beach is really nice as well but very steep walk back
Fantabulous!!!!!!!!!!!!
Stayed at this resort with my fiance 19-26 May 07 and would have no problems in saying that this is one of the best AI resorts we have ever been to and we have been to a lot around the world!! It is definately 4*. There are proper cushioned chairs not the plastic ones like in most places. We think it maybe because the English haven't really found it to trash it yet!!! The Germans really take care of the place. There are cleaners cleaning ALL day looking after the place. The only thing we were not happy about during our stay was how early they start -7:30am. Due to the large corridors, they just echo when they are pulling their trollies, but they only clean 5 out of 7 days so you do get a lie in for a couple of days! There are lifts all over the hotel including by the pool so if you are in a wheelchair or not able to walk far, these come into their own. The beach is a steep 10 minute walk so beware! It's worth it though. The drinks were all named brand soft drinks, and local alcohol, but very good quality - not the plastic tasting stuff you usually get on AI! They are also served in glasses in the evening not plastic cups which you usually get. The rooms are a nice size. There is a bath with shower and also a shower cubicle so if you are a couple, this is perfect as you can have a shower each at the same time. The main pool was stunning, but pretty cold when we went, so we didn't take a dip. But the smaller pool was warmer. There was also an indoor heated pool which was lush, and also an indoor jacuzzi. Remember to push the button to switch it on - we thought it didn't work for the first 2 days we were there!! There are 2 saunas and a steam room, but beware, the Germans go in in the nude! There was a squash court, which you had to put a small refundable deposit on the rackets/ball, a gym, exercise classes, table tennis, pool also. There was a small gift shop and also internet access which we didn't use so not sure how much it was. The food was stunning. There was fresh fruit, proper croissants (not the bread-like ones!), choc croissants, pancakes, cooked breakfast, toast, cheeses, salads etc etc for breakfast. Fresh grilled fish every day. We are not fish eaters, but we were this holiday! There was a whole tuna out one night which was beautiful. There was so much variety of food so there was something for everyone. There was proper ice cream, fruit, choc delight, filter coffee, proper tea! You get the idea! The transfer by the way was approx 1 hour through hoteltransfers.com and was £25 each way for both of us so not too bad. Don't get a cab unless absolutely necessary as would be very expensive. Overall, we were NOT disappointed at all. We have loads of pictures but not managed to get them on here unfortunately. I recommend this hotel for couples, old, young, familes - everyone! Even if you are a single sex group just looking for a relaxing time. Go to the Ambar Beach, you will not be disappointed!
