We Stayed here for a week not once was the bedding changed!! the towels were changed but not daily.. the room was never cleaned, no clean glasses, so all in all the staff were very lazy..as for the food, said it was run by a British butcher well you'd think he'd know how to make sure the food was good enough to eat, only managed two breakfasts there, and that was only to eat toast that had to be put through the toaster a dozen times before it even looked like toast. wouldn't waste your time even thinking about eating here, there are plenty of other places with really good food.. but saying that the hotel was located in a great spot, and it didn't spoil our holiday one bit, would go back to sunny beach for sure but would find a far better hotel
- Advice: Dont eat there...

Im on holiday at the central royal at present, cant wait another to days an il be out of this hell hole. The whole place is a joke, an then to top if of my suitcase was stolen and staff would not offer any help or advice, they claimed that there was no clear footage that it must hav been a ghost. Then to top it of i spend 2 days at the police station just to get speaking to a hostile interpreteur. She took the statement and which i had to pay 8 lev,s, but the statement will not be ready until monday an i fly home on sumday. While at the police station i heard of lots of other horror stories sunny beach is full of organised crime and a lot of it is linked to the corrupt police . This hotel will offer u nothing take ur hard earned cash else where.
- Advice: as far away from the hotel with ur belongings

Hotel is great, no doubt about that, room was very big, aircon working properly, and the location is in the very centre of the resort and 5 min walk from the beach. This lead to negative side it is quite noisy up till about 3-4am, therefore would not recommend it to families with small children.
They claim they are changing towels every 3 days, I was there 5 days and my towels were never changed.
Food... quite poor, no idea how they make chips, but they make really bad ones, so if there is rice, choose rice. Most of the food overcooked, so in my opinion better choose B&B, and not half board, as you can get quite cheap meals in local restaurants, on the other hand I ordered food on my first night in the same hotels restaurant and it was FAB, so they know how to cook, only not for the guests on half board bases.
- Advice: Go to Nessebar and Burgas, great towns, and Bourgas is much cheaper for shopping.
- Good For: Beach
- Board Basis:Half Board

Thin mattresses, staff were helpful but the resort was a dump and expensive, we moved to Bourgas. One of my worst ever holidays, unfriendly and unhelpful locals, bad hotels, nothing to do and the whole country seems to be rotting around their ears.
Don't go there.
Apparently they prefer germans.

It was our first trip to Bulgaria and stayed in the Royal Central. The rooms were clean, tidy and staff was very helpful. We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel.
The only thing i could fault about the country itself was the amount of young girls offering themselves for sex, and children begging and following you around for money, food and drink. This was quite off putting as its not what you go on holiday to see. The shops are also the same, i saw some beautiful stuff in the shops but was nagged from walking in the shop so just left each time. I would have bought many many things if they would just leave you alone to look around.

Having stayed in the Royal Central Hotel almost every year since about 2006, I feel that I am in a good position to review this hotel and resort.
First entering the hotel from the main road through a bar, it comes like a hidden gem once you open the dark wooden door at the rear to enter into a pleasent reception area. It is common practice to leave your passport overnight at the reception where I have found the staff to be friendly and helpful. Every room I have stayed in has always been spotlessly clean, comfortable bed, TV, air conditioner, fridge and bathroom/shower/toilet.
Breakfast at Granny's Kitchen will suit some but maby not everyone. However I never had any problem enjoying my food. Yes, the toaster is painfully slow, and the sausages are continental style, but guess what? this is the continent. After breakfast, it is lovely to sit out on the balcony with a cool drink and a good book, enjoying the sun.
The hotel pool is not designed as a swimming pool as much as a 'splash-pool' in which to cool off when lying sunbathing.
The hotel's position is probably the most central in Sunny Beach (Slancha Bryag), so perfect as a base to explore the resort. Less than five minutes from the bus station (afta-gara) means that a quick, cheap bus ride takes you to Nessibar, a world heritage protected small fishing village on a peninsula which once supported forty churches, and is steeped in history. Now very touristy, at the height of the season it pays to get in early, say before 10am, as it can get quite crowded.
There are also busses to the city of Burgas, a beautiful city worth visiting, with pavement cafes and coffe bars, lovely shops and parks. And if you are like me, the 'one levi' shops (like small Poundlands) are great places to find inexpensive bargains. If travelling onwards from Burgas by train (vlak), the bus station is just across the road from the train station (garrata).
Varna, the third largest city in Bulgaria, is also really worth a visit, so by going in the other direction the bus to Varna (name looks like Bapa) takes under two hours and costs about ten pounds return, ask to get off the bus at the Cathedral, as this is beside a pedestrian area, the other end of which ends at the start of the beautiful marine gardens.
To get the bus back to Sunny Brach, return to the Cathedral, cross the road to the Cocoa Cola house side and get the 409 bus out to the bus station.
Back in Sunny Beach, there are no shortage of places to drink and dine. Djanny's is very popular, and not without reason. Always remember the food there is so inexpensive, it is well worth trying something different, you might be surprised as to how good some Bulgarian meals are.
Karaoke, clubs, bars, pubs, whatever takes your fancy, you'll find something to suit everybody' taste.
If you want an inexpensive, good value, enjoyable holiday, don't hesitate in booking into the Royal Central Hotel, and guess what? if you are there at the end of May 2012, I'll see you there myself.
Peter.
