What a Dog Hole - urgh damn awful rip off.
Upon reading some of the reviews I have to wonder if I was at the same place. I cant call it a hotel as it was simply a place in the middle of nowhere with little civilsation. What a total letdown this place was. If you want to go to a run down camp site then this is for you - and believe me you would be better off sleeping in a tent. Its a hovel and i would rather sleep in my dog's kennel. As you can see my friend whom I travelled with has put on some pics - the pics look somewhat better than the actual place. I still cannot... more
Shabby, Run Down, Poor excuse of a holiday resort
We were really looking forward to our stay. When we arrived we were so shocked to see the shabby run down atmospher of not only the rooms but the grounds, the gates, everything. This place does not warrent a star rating!!!! Our room had a leaking shower, broken bathroom light, broken aircon. Poor security, men loitering around on the streets pestering the guest. This I later found out was not how the real Jamaica is until we left after our first ght and stayed at St Annes District!! Men do chill with their freinds having a beer and a... more
Great Place to Stay to Experience Jamaica
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Summerset Village. I would highly recommend staying here if you are looking for something other than the “all inclusive” hotels. With it being in a neighborhood, I felt I was experiencing a little more of Jamaican life. Summerset is not located on the beach, but there are some wonderful beach locations nearby. The staff was real courteous and friendly, and with a security guard on duty at night I felt very safe and at ease. Breakfasts were included with the room charge; I especially enjoyed the French... more
Magical Jamaica Uncut
Yes Jamaica's magic grips your heart for sure and I was so impressed with Summerset Village - its wonderful charming staff are there to greet you and make your stay exactly as you would wish. Its absolutely perfect for everyone and children are no exception - completely safe to play and swim in a clean filtered pool and lots of space amid wonderful tropical fruit trees. The kind, helpful and friendly service was very special - everyone loved it - and I am missing having my meals cooked for me so beautifully. Its such a wonderful... more
Paradise untouched.
Nice resort, away from the hustle and bustle of the town centre, but within easy reach of all facilities. The hotel staff were very friendly. They also had a baby sitting service which was excellent, rates were really reasonable. Although we went when it was very quite we all enjoyed our stay at the resort.
First time
My first trip to Jamaica, was last year. We stayed at Summerset and i would not want to stay anywhere else. I hated seeing all of the hotels on the beach with big walls and gates. Why go somewhere if you are going to lock yourself in. Security was just fine at Summerset, but not to much of a need for it. I could not imagine another place to stay for a vacation. Dolly and all of her staff where so wonderfull, and the guest where from all over gave just a good feelling. There was no phone in our room, but i did not go to jamaica to talk... more
A place for relaxing ONLY
Okay, I cannot say anything bad about this place, b/c I didn't stay at this resort. I must say this though; of the resorts and hotels we passed to get to Summerset were fenced in and had security walking the premises...this one did not. I would not have felt safe without that. To add to the safty issue there weren't any phones in the rooms. (We viewed three.) I think this place is for those that have a group of 20 or more - like a staff retreat or something of that nature. As long as you have protection and like being secluded from... more
beware of this hotel
my friends and i were supposed to stay here this place is in the middle of no where, with no phones and no tv. unless you are running away and never want to be found don't book a room here. we had our driver take us to a hotel back toward the beaches it was much better and we could walk to just about everything.
Peaceful
I first went to Negril the summer of 2004, stayed at Legends the first week then at Summerset the next week, all I can say is thank you Summerset for being so kind and thoughtful of my needs, Dolly was always asking if everything was o.k. with the room and if not the maid showed up soon to fix anything that was wrong, staff is very friendly and when they say soon come they came and not 3-4 hours later, you can sit on your balcony at night and hear the ocean waves, soft gentel breeze and a whole lot of Peace, security is around keeping an eye... more
