Iberostar Costa Calero Hotel Reviews

On arriving, the entrance to the hotel was very impressive with decorative pools. The reception and hallway architecture was very modern and spacious. On the same floor, the piano bar with terrace was an excellent place to wind down. I sipped many a cocktail, while admiring the stunning sunset views and with the piano player in the background, it was so relaxing.
Downstairs, there was an Internet cafe (about 6 PC’s), a basic souvenir shop, a TV room, and main restaurant and show bar. The entertainment in the showbar was so-so, they had a mixture of in-house and professional entertainers. The in-house entertainers were talented but the quality of the content of the shows made it like a holiday camp in parts. Overall though, it was good, I’ve seen a lot worse.
There were four pools, one baby pool, one salt water (you could float in this), one heated and one large pool. There is another pool, which wasn’t finished yet, from the look of it, it will be a spa pool with jets etc. There were plenty of sunbeds, all segregated into different areas e.g. in gardens with palm trees, beside the pools, in a man made beach area.
There was also a daytime bar and restaurant, situated near the pools. Lunchtime buffet is served in this restaurant. Amongst the tropical gardens was a snack bar, from here you could also get snacks and fresh towels every day. At night, the indoor restaurant provided an extensive buffet. Over the fortnight, I ate just about everything you could possibly eat. There was no cut back on ingredients.
During the day. there was also a games room with table tennis, pool, table football and hockey. A kiddies playground, a full gymnasium, board games, archery, rifle shooting, volleyball, giant chess sets. Other activities included water polo, bingo, and scuba diving in the pool.
The rooms were also exceptional, very spacious and modern. The bathrooms were also well designed and luxurious. In the room, satellite TV, mini bar (if you want this stocked with alcohol, there is an extra charge, otherwise just use it as a fridge), balcony with superb views, telephone, hairdryer, air conditioning and plenty of storage room.
The hotel isn’t completely finished yet, some rooms, the spa pool and beauty centre are not done. During my stay, I wasn’t disturbed by any building work, one afternoon I heard a drill for 10 mins but that was it.
Outside the hotel, at the bottom of the hill is Puerto Calero marina, which is an exclusive part of Lanzarote. Here there is a supermarket, a couple of shops, some bars and restaurants but is also a very relaxing place.
I totally recommend this hotel and would definitely go there or another Iberostar resort again.
