We arrived to find that the hotel had not been finished! None of the pool view rooms were available (still being decorated).
Out of the 2 pools they have, only one was available - this was a salt water pool and very cold. As the rooms around it we still be furnished, there was a lot of noise from the builders.
Also, they appear to be building the other at the other side of the pool, so there was a constant noise of drills, saws, hammers etc.
Additionally, out of the 2 restaurants and 4 bars advertised, only one was actually open. The restaurant offered a plentiful array of food, but it was all cold - it was kept in heated cabinets, but the food was never covered so it was always cold - and the waiting staff were always grumpy!
None of the activities on offer (dance classes, football, bingo etc) actually took place.
The reception staff were only able to understand English when it suited them, and depending on who served you, it depended on how much commission was charged when cashing traveller’s cheques!
I guess it may be OK when it's finished, but there was never any atmosphere in or around the hotel.
However, the hotel is well located. But - the trip into town is not for everyone. The "town" as such is dirty and dusty, and you are constantly accosted by the locals who want you to "come visit my shop"!
If you still intend to go to Cape Verde, take jumpers with you. All year round there is a wind which makes it quite chilly in the evenings.
