Just got back from the Riu Olivina having stayed there for 1 week in a group of 8 people including 1 child aged 11. First impressions of the hotel were very good but it was hard to really tell as didn't arrive until 10.30pm. Went straight to the bar for the first load of... more

Wonderful Staff, wonderful food
Having stayed at a Riu Hotel before we knew the standards would be good but the Staff at this Hotel were exceptional, extremely friendly and very welcoming. The food was excellent and as a result we ate far too much. The entertainment in the evening was a bit hit & miss and at times we felt overwhelmed by the boisterous German majority, however there were plenty of quiet spaces to escape them. We wish we were back there right now. more
the food is repeatably boring with a lot of junk food needs more British food
we really enjoyed our stay in this hotel but there where two downside to the hotel firstly there is no lift and as we are pensioners and I am disabled my husband had to carry our cases up the stairs as they do not have a bell boy and none of the staff offered to help, secondly the food main course choice is basically catering for the Germans and people who enjoy junk food. one the plus side the hotel is spotlessly clean, the bedroom was very comfortable with 2 chairs and a small table and nothing was to much trouble for the chambermaid, she... more
Could very easily be made much better
A very nice 3/4* Aparthotel, we stayed in the apartments"annex" which I believe is 3* as opposed to the Hotels 4* rating, the Hotel on the whole is very clean and tidy, the two main problems were that because of the time of year the terrace bar at the apartments was closed and you had about a 200 metre walk for a drink if you were using the pool nearest your rooms, they did send waiters down on three or four occasions during our 2 week stay, no mention in the brochure regarding the seasonal opening of this bar. The food was very... more
Will Never Stay in a Riu Hotel Again
We were really looking forward to staying in a Riu hotel. On arrival the receptionist was extremely helpful and looked after our cases while we went to lunch so she could complete the paperwork. After lunch, we dragged our cases to our apartment which was comfortable and clean apart from the beds which were rock hard. We had a shower before we went to dinner but discovered there was no hot water at certain times (an hour before breakfast and before dinner). We had no hot water for three days. The food in the restaurant was cooked in... more
Fantastic
Just got back had a fantastic week all the staff made my wife and me very welcome Mirak and Aruba the crazy games where good fun did not want to leave well recommend the hotel
Excellent Hotel
We could not fault this hotel. Room was excellent, food great, staff very helpful and friendly. We were in the minority of UK guests, as this hotel does seem popular with both German and Spanish guests. Would definetely stay there again.
Not bad,if you like everything that is german......
We have just returned from our stay at this hotel yesterday and although we stopped in a suite, which was nice,we thought we should warn all other nationalities that unless you are german, you will not be made to feel that welcome at this hotel,by guests and one member of staff on reception(female) who is also german who is extremely rude, the other spanish staff including maids are great(we liked Juan). The other problem is the food is catering for the german patrons also, sorry RIU ,you have got it all wrong here, better luck next time... more
Quiet relaxing break
We stayed at the Riu Olivina Hotel from 4th March for two weeks. We had originally booked to stay at the apartments, but as we had taken the half board option and after we had asked, we were upgraded to stay at the hotel. The hotel is small and the staff friendly. There was only one other English couple staying for these two weeks, the majority of other guests being German, Bulgarian and Dutch. This did not prove any problem at all, apart from the lack of queue etiquette, which we have experienced before so were not suprised. The room... more
Made our excuses and left
We arrived on a wet Sunday in January to be greeted by a receptionist from the Basil Fawlty school of hotel management. Our room smelt strongly of smoke but we were told that the hotel had no non smoking rooms as it was too difficult to enforce! We were also not impressed by the 'instruction' that we would have to carry our suitcases upstairs as there was no bell boy and the ramp was slippy. Overall the hotel looked tired and unloved. Plus points? Well she did ring us a taxi so that we could escape to Playa Blance and another hotel..... more
A GOOD CHRISTMAS BREAK
My wife and I have now stayed at four Riu Hotels both in the Canary Islands and the Algarve, I would certainly rate this Hotel as being one of the quieter ones. This was the first time we had stayed away for Christmas and were expecting perhaps a little more organised activity. If you are looking for lots to do within a Hotel the all inclusive Riu just down the road has a lot more facilities and activities to offer, but does everone want to really stuff themselves with food and booze all the time? Generally the Hotel has a pleasent... more
