Just got back from the Riu Olivina having stayed there for 1 week in a group of 8 people including 1 child aged 11.
First impressions of the hotel were very good but it was hard to really tell as didn't arrive until 10.30pm.
Went straight to the bar for the first load of our all inclusive drinks which seemed quite nice, especially the vodka sun, as bar closed at 12.
Appartments were clean and tidy and bed seemed okay although to see a fan in the main bedroom instead of air conditioning was very dissapointing. The third bed in our appartment was a bed settee located in the lounge / kitchen which didn't even have a fan in so even more dissapointing.
There were only really 2 pools, although it was stated as having 3, as the 3rd was across the road and not worth bothering with. Of the 2 pools we used the smaller one was the best as it was less busy although this one was salted water. Both pools were quite cold. We had to make sure that we put our towels out to reserve our sunbeds by 8am latest to avoid our lovely european counterparts from hogging them all.
Talking of our German friends, they outnumbered us about 5 to 1 and it very much seemed that the hotel was catered more towards them.
The food was okay but very samey every evening becoming repetitive. We took one night off by going to the local shopping area and finding a tex mex stakehouse about 10 minutes walk away which was a welcome change.
The entertainment was terrible, it rarely happened and when it did it was aimed at our german commrads once again.
We went on a day trip to Fortuventura water park, booked through our Thomson rep and although it was a welcome change to the everday sitting at the pool it was not worth the 145 euros we spent on it for 3 of us to go.
Overall it was a pretty good holiday as we made it that, but if only there was air conditioning, better entertainment and less german favouratism then it would have been a whole lot better! As such cannot recommend
