It was me and my boyfriend that headed to Malia, just there in September. The 8th to be precise. We were going to 2 weeks, and had done the norm, and read all kinds of reviews on the internet - we didn't know what to expect. It was 2 extremes - great or terrible!
When we arrived we had a 45min or so bus journey to get to the apts. It was late at night, and it seemed like Village Oasis was in this random dark alley. But it wasn't really!
We were staying in Village Oasis Area so a rep took us over to the apts - a small walk maybe a minute or so from the actual Village Oasis. So we were on the top floor - with no lift. We were at the top! So that was 4 flights of stairs - tiring at the start but u get used to it! We had a balcony but they r a no go after 11 because the security guard won't be pleased. But our view was unbelievable!
Our rep, Laura (lovely girl!), then gave us our welcome meeting trying to sell all their trips etc. We made up our mind a bit too quickly and because it sounded great we said we'll do everything - which was quite expensive 200Euro I think. My advice would be to pay for excursions individually. They don't advertise it but ask. We did because the next day we realised it was a bit too much! And shop around down the strip first! Alot cheaper trips that way!
But back to the apt. We had a nightmare to begin with. It rained! Like poured down for 2 days! And our apt flooded - inside and on the balcony! The thing was that our balcony didn't have no way for the water to escape so instead it came into the room. Nightmare. We couldnt have anything on the floors. So, we went to reception so many times and kept being told to come back later. EVENTUALLY, when the receptionist started her duty she offered to temporarily change our rooms, get it cleaned and put us back in it? I thought no way! I rang thomas cook - insurance didnt cover us (didn't seem to cover much?). They just said that we HAVE to get changed rooms. So i said that to the receptionist and she said they will change us rooms but that we can stay in a room for 1 night but not to move all our luggage! Wasn't pleased but it was a step forward.
Our new room - 3 person room. Alot bigger - Great. The holiday started from then.
Didn't have no bad run in's with the cleaner. Left change sitting all the time and it never went missing. Nothing did. The only thing was they never changed our sheets the whole time we were there. We took them to the laundrette a little walk down the street.
What I would advise you to do is to take photographs of any damages when you arrive. And also tell the rep, so they can't bill u when u leave. Our sheets were ripped in the first room but when Laura came over for our introduction meeting we told her! They were supposed to get changed asap. They didn't - so in your own case chase it up!
Overall, Village Oasis was great! The bar staff are lovely but I would advise to go down the strip. Only a short walk away. Amazing holiday! Malia - great.com!

I came here with 8 girls and we all loved malia and enjoyed it all apart from our last day...
We arrived at about half 5 in the morning Malia time, they took our passports of us and gae us our room key, the reps then decided that they wanted to the welcome talk with us at 6am in the morning when we were all shattered and clearly just wanted to go to bed. They kept on and on about getting us to buy deals and none of us wanted it as we did it in Magaluf last year, and you just go down the strip and get it for half the price! One of the lads started getting annoyed with us because we didnt want anything and couldnt take no for an answer.
The hotel itself is lovely, its clean and exactly what you would want for an 18-30s hotel, our room was clean and average size. However there are a few things that you need to be aware of when staying here as we came across these problems.
The maid cleans your room probably twice a week sometimes more, DO NOT leave spare change lying about as she would just help herself to it, and i know it doesnt sound much but 3-4 euros everytime she cleans your room is mad as it all adds up! We then eventually clicked to what was going on, so we hid our money and one of my girls had left 40 euros in her purse hidden under a pile of clothes and found out that had gone missing too.
On our last day they checked all of our rooms over to see if we had broken anything or anything had gone missing, which i think is fare enough. All our glasses and cutlery was fine then the women turned round and said we are missing a chair, we knew that it was in the other girls room as we all pre drank together each night and obviously needed more chairs, so she started complaining that we had stolen it, so we decided to get the reps involved as it was ridiculous because they wouldnt give our passports back and we had to catch a plain in at least 4 hours!!
The people working there was shouting at the reps, making them cry because they were siding with us, eventually they made them check CCTV and it was shown that the maid had taken it from our room to put it in someone elses, trying to get us to pay! The women is a nasty peace of work and treats her staf like [--].
We also had to wait for the made to check our bedding, to ensure it was all there. At this point we were down in reception and the women said we are missing bed sheets and we knew we wasnt because we counted them and she made us go and get them so she could count them, when we are supposed to be the guests at this hotel, she was so rude and arragont.
Apart from that at the end of the holiday i couldnt of asked for a better place to stay, just dissapointing that they had to try and con us on the last day. So all i can say is hide your money and keep your valuables in a locked suitcase.
But all in all it was a ledgendary holiday, Malia is UNREAL!

first of the place we stayed at, our rooms were tidy good space between beds, toilet worked well, shower didn't look great but was pretty powerful and stayed in place. we had two baclonies, both had a good view and were spacious and clean. main downsides of room were the amount of noice you could hear from other rooms and people banging on doors, and early mornings maid banging on the door or your 18-30 rep which only happened once. there were also annoying noises of pigeons who must of set up camp on our roof, also you have to buy your own toilet rool and use your own towels to dry. but overall are rooms were cool place to stay but personaly lost a few hours sleep via the constant noises. then theres the swimming pool area and bar which i must give 10/10. the swimming pool area and pool was always clean, good music was played at a resonable level all the latest stuff. plenty of high quality sun beds and always a good atmosphere around the pool, plenty of poeple relaxing having a laugh and messing about in pool everyone who stayed the week I was there seemed sound and up for a good time. the bars food what i had was top quality and at a great price. i found the drinks slighty expensive. bar staff were fine and joked with you. the bar area also had 8 good quality computers with internet, 1 euro for 20mins and had PS3 with fifa 09 and pes 09 played on a big screen from a comfy sofa. theres a shop just round the corner from where we stayed provided the basic stuff, and another 3 mintue walk brought you to a larger shop which had pretty much all you need. where it all happens is about 12 mintue pleasnat walk to the main strip, where you find all sorts of pubs and bars to go to, and plenty of shops and rival comapnies trying to sell quadbikes. then further down you get to the more quailty bars and then further on you get to the main clubs. all situated within on the same road pretty much. the places to go to eat were quality, and then afterwards going to start the night there are loads of bars with prs trying to get you with good deals like 5 euro for 4 drinks couple of shots and a fishbowl, so pretty much one bar sets you well on your way. a couple more bars later then its ready to hit one the great clubs where its lively and everyhwere stays open till the early hours. as for the beach we nevefr went there to actaully stay for the day, but we went down there and it seemed busy and a decent place.

The village oasis is a quality hotel if your going malia to have a good time. All the staff are top people, if you want to have a good time then the always up for a laugh. Harry works during the day he's a bag of laughs and Nico who works during the night is a good laugh to all they ask is that you respect the hotel and dont go to over the top which is understandable. The rooms may not be the greatest but its an 18-30s and you only ever go to sleep there. The bar is 24 hr which is great and is right next to the pool where you spend most your day. I would definatly come back anytime and im sure i will.

Well first of all when we arrived they gathered us together and took our passports and 50 euros for air con which we were told was free, then the rep took us to our room wich was a mile away and wasnt even at the pool which we were told we would be, once we complained they moved us hotels which is fair enough but refused to give us our passports and 50 euros back,so once we told the rep they took all week to get our things back and in the end we ended up only getting 30 of the 50 euros back, would never go back there again and also the 18-30s is a pure rip off they should be ashamed ! ! !We were coned about alot other things two but to much to explain jst a bit of advice, stay well away from here ! malia itself is brilliant though loved it.

I'm just back from my hoiday in Malia and let me tell you I was nearly in tears after booking my holiday at village oasis in Malia after reading these reviews. I was expecting it to be the holiday from hell, this couldn't be further from the truth. It is not nearly as bad as people are making out. The staff do not taser people or take your passports just to rip you off. The staff here are some of the friendliest people I've ever met. I had such a laugh with Harry and Nico the barmen and they looked out for us gals. Elvis the chefs food was so good that we didn't eat anywhere else for the whole of our holiday. The reps were fab especially Naffy and Frankie! The Neon night and silent disco are things you MUST do!!! The pool is a great place to spend the day at, there are loads of sunbeds and the music is really good. Fair enough he rooms aren't exactly the Hilton but lets face it your on a club 18-30 holiday and you hardly spend time in your room. I think the rooms are prety reasonable for the money you pay. The location of the hotel is good as your only a short walk away from the strip. I had the time of my life on this holiday and would definitely go back. I made so many great friends there that I know I will see again! Big thumbs up! :) Ooh ah Mawia, I say ooh ah Mawia!!!

Firstly, I was well aware I was travelling with 18-30 so wasn't expecting the accomadation to be the Ritz. but having payed over 400 pound and being told it was a 3 star hotel, I expected a certain standard of hygiene. We stayed in two, four bedroomed patricia apartments in the village oasis area. Having been told when booking we had airconditioning built into the price, we were then told on arrival that to actually get it we would need to pay 50 euros. The apartments were grotty with stains up and down the walls, the fridge was rusty, the bathroom shower was not a shower. The sheets had stains not to mention the ant problem, combined with the heat we felt like we'd entered hell. However being in Malia meant we fortunately spent hardly any time in the rooms. Malia itself has amazing nightlife and is well worth the visit, the village oasis pool area was fantastic always being cleaned by a guy I'm sure had ocd (I wish he'd been our room cleaner). The food was lovely and reasonably priced - full fry up for 3 euros, its the perfect hangover cure. The bar staff were friendly and quite flirty in a non scary way. The security is excellent in terms of safety but considering its 18 -30 being told off for being too loud at 11 pm is a little ridiculous, bringing someone back was 50 euros and you weren't allowed on your balcony after 11. Which felt a bit like being a naughty child at home, rather than an adult on a wild holiday abroad. So basically the hotel is hit and miss, if it refurbished its rooms and actually cleaned them properly it would be well worth the price but at the moment its not.

Well when i read the reviews of Village Oasis i was dreding my holiday but it all changed when we arrived at 6am.
We were given our room key and our passports were taken just incase we damaged anything and refused to pay which is fair.
Our room was big considering we had 3 beds in there and it was really clean apart from a few stains on the matress which is to be expected in an 18-30's hotel.
We had a room on the ground floor at the back so we didnt have much of a view really, a old man planting cucumbers all day which we found hilarious at times.
As for all this rubbish about the staff hitting people and people ignorant is aload of rubbish. Never had a problem with any of them.
Antonia was the little flirt behind the bar in the day times and Elvis was the chef. Funny little man who never stopped cleaning the bar and pool area all day!!! He was amazing didnt speak English though but always smiling.
The woman ( not sure of her name ) was sweet too.. think she had a little big of trouble with some of the accents like the Irish so she didnt talk much to some people ha. I know that feeling.
Nikos is the bar man in the night and he is the funniest guy i met in Malia he reminded me of Beyonce for some reason. Always helpful if you have a scary bunch of Geordie boys in the next room who come in your room at 5am waking you up :(
Zack is the owner of the hotel and for him to actually hit/tazer someone he must have been reallllllly mad. He was sound never really saw him get angry at anybody and he put up with some right buggers in the 2 weeks we were there.
Not really much to do in the day times unless you hire out quads which we did from a place called Hermes on the strip. We paid 70 Euros for 4 days with full insurance. Had no problems with them nobody trying to steal them and we didnt have to pay for anything when we took them back as we looked after them.
The man who hired them to us was Paul. Legend from the one and only Swansea City!! Good Man. Think he loves us because we were Swansea girls ourself :D
Food was really good, didnt have one bad meal out there. PR's did get annoying at times but listen to them because they do give you good offers like 3 4 1 and 2 free shots for 5 euros and fishbowls for groups. Drinks were not watered down if anything the measurements were stronger than over here.
Bars and clubs were all amazing.. Apollo was a personal fave & Candy. 4Play Bar is great for a laugh on the Wii haha and they have a giant twister board. Good times!
All in all the holiday was the best 2 weeks of my life and i wouldnt have changed anything at all.. hoping to go back for a week in September and will deffinately be sorting out staying back at the Oasis. Us Welshies love you!!!!!

after reading some reviews i am gobsmacked yes the rooms are basic but at the end of the day you are in malia you dnt spend alot of time in your room so dnt worry. decent size pool and bar . All the staff were as friendly as anything. The reps were all proper sound and were always theres if any problems occured. Rooms were cleaned twice a week and were very clean. Only critism with the room is no toliet paper left on arrival. If you want a quite boring holiday then don't go to malia but if your as lively as me stay in this apartment and have the best holiday ever. Thanks guys for a truely amazing hoilday

An amazin holiday..

Jun 2009, Susi_taylor

After readin all the reviews below i believed tht i wud be stayin in the place of hell.. I was paranoid tht i wud get tasered for messin around.. However, the reviews below are far from the truth.
The hotel was very clean and well looked after.. There was staff around all the time and they were always friendly and welcoming. They had really good english as well which helped a lot. There is cctv everywhere as well so u feel safe..
The rumor about bringin people back is not really true.. there is a back enterance anyway and ur friends can come back for an hour or so n then they have to leave.. i didnt have to pay 50euros for them to come in my room..
Zac is such a nice guy and tends to give u free shots at night if ur nice to him haha.. there is still the rumor about the taser gun however, i doubt tht this is true..
The hotel provides a nice pool with plenty of sunbeds and good music.. there is a pool table, ping pong table, internet access, a playstation 3, a wii, etc.. so there is loads 2 do..
The room was really nice as well and not expensive.. so i wud recommend eatin there..
Overall, if i was goin back 2 malia anytime soon I would deff stay there. I wouldnt even look at stayin anywhere else..
Have a good holiday in Malia..
