The rooms are very basic - although you won't be expecting much for that price. However, our apartment was full of moscitos (our child was all covered in moscito bites). I would like to warn everyone, as we got robbed. Someone got into our room using a blue door covering... more

The apartments don't have nightly entertainment. There is a few hotels near but 20 mins(walk) there is a strech of shops, bars and resturants and 40mins away there is a big, clear, sandy beach and near that there is a marina with a few restraunts(3). The apartments have a... more

Basic!!
The hotel is basic but clean. Its a quiet complex and in plesant walking distance around the coast to the busier nightlife of Playa Blanca. If you dont fancy the walk a taxi only costs 3 euros. If u enjoy having lunch at the hotel bar forget it. The food is appaling and the guy who runs it extremely rude. On the day we arrived i asked 4 a ham and cheese toastie which wasnt a problem but he couldnt do a plain cheese toastie for my vegetarian girlfriend because "its not on the menu". On another occasion we asked for some toast but even this was out of the question even though the toaster and loaf of bread was behind him. In the end we had to walk to a restaurant 4 lunch everyday. Also there was no entertainment at all. Maybe this was because the bar closed at 5 every afternoon so no chance of an evening pint. The pool was the coldest pool i have ever been in, it was nearly off putting and the wind was a total pain. Will stick to Cyprus in the future with out a doubt!!!!
Ideal Location
Just returned from a weeks stay at the Atlantic Gardens in Lanzarote. This small complex is made up of basic bungalows with a decent sized, clean swimming pool. The rooms are clean and have the basics for self catering including a fridge (which you dont have to pay extra for), hob and microwave. There is a filter coffee machine and toaster, but no kettle. These can be hired from reception for 7 euros per week. The linen is changed once a week and towels twice. There is an enclosed area at the back of each bungalow where you can dry washing/towels etc. The hotel has a pool snack bar is reasonably priced, but is only open until around 3pm, although he did stay open a little later a couple of times. The shop is very reasonably priced for the essentials, but only open from 8am - 3pm. The reception staff are really friendly and they arranged car hire for us. The resort itself is great for couples and families - not really big on night clubs etc so wouldnt recommend it for those expecting wild party nights. There are loads of really nice restaurants, but we recommend the Mirador Del Lobos which is 10-15 minute walk to the right of the hotel - a little more expensive, but well worth it because the food and staff are fantastic. The rep told us that there wasnt anything along that side of the the resort, but we're pleased we didnt take any notice of him and went along there anyway. Dont go to the Chinese Restaurant Hong Kong City. The food and beer were disappointing! There is a promenade from one side of the resort to the other running along the beachfront, passing hotels, bars and restaurants. We weren't pestered by touts trying to get you into restaurants which is a welcome change - we did hire a car and called into Costa Teguise and we were pestered there. The roads are very well sign posted and marked and you can get to all of the main attractions easily. Timanfaya is definitely worth a visit - this costs around 8 euros and worth going early morning as it gets really busy. There are tours (north, south and grand) which on reflection seem quite good value for money if you're not going to hire a car. Be aware if you're travelling with Thomas Cook as they're hot on the excess baggage charges both out of and back to the UK. There were holdups in our queues with people trying to offload their excess or pay the charges. We were charged 36 euros for being 4 kilos over and they wouldnt take the fact that we didnt have much hand luggage into consideration. Overall a fantastic holiday, for us, Playa Blanca is definitely the best resort on the island.
Lovely, clean and peaceful
This was our second time staying here the first time was back in 2000.. The bungalows are really clean and in great surrounds, pool area was good with plenty of sun beds to go round. The bar was a bit disappointing as it closed at about 5ish. On site shop was good and had lots to choice and I didn't think it was over priced. We found a great bar and restaurants only a 10 mins walk away, if you turn right away from Playa blanca, you pass a hotel, then come across a bar called Manea where you have great surrounding and waiter service and live entertainment very popular with all ages, abit more expensive than your local bar, but well worth a visit. Next to the Manea was a restaurant called Natura Beach which had great food and good service, and great views looking out to sea.. We ate here lots, good value for money full breakfast plus tea or coffee for 3.60 Euro. A nice and relaxing holiday without loads of kids running around, can't wait to go back again.
A bit of a walk!
Atlantic gardens was basic accommodation but very clean. I found the sofa and bed quite uncomfortable, but no complaints about the bungalow otherwise. The pool area is clean and relaxing with plenty of sun beds in April but not sure if there would be in height of season. Playa Blanca was lovely with nice beaches and very well priced, lovely food. I would definately return to Playa Blanca but not to Atlantic Gardens as the walk (30 mins) to nice beaches and resort centre was a bit too long, particularly in the heat. Next time, I would stay closer to the action. However, it may be better to hire a car which is fine if you don't like a drink in the evening. Lovely resort, lovely food, basic accommodation but clean and friendly. Would recommend the Irish Anvil pub for English breakfast and hot chocolate.
Excellent Accomodation - Wonderful resort
My wife and I have visited Playa Blanca 4 times now. On this occasion we stayed for our 2nd wedding anniversary. We normally stay at the Rubicon Palace down the road on a HB basis but on this occasion we decided to go SC. We enjoyed as much if not more so. Although the accomodation is fairly basic, who cares it's just a place to rest your head. It's clean and tidy and well organised. It actually worked out cheaper and we ate out every night. This resort is now our spiritual home and we hope to go back this year finances permitting. I would say one thing though, although I'm an experienced scuba diva even I found the pool freeeeezing!
could have been a bit better
Atlantic Gardens,Playa Blanca,Lanzarote. These are small "bungalows" on a pleasant site just a short walk from the sea.The bungalow we stayed in required a refurb but do not let this put you off staying here.It was clean and everything worked o/k, but things like the microwave and the furniture want renewing as they have started to look a bit tatty. This is a pleasant complex with pool etc and is very quiet at the time we stayed(Jan 11-18th).The staff are very friendly and helpful and Playa Blanca is a nice area.We booked this as a selfcatering holiday through Airtours (last minute) and was very good value. One strange thing about this place was that they provided all the usual stuff in the bungalow, coffee maker, microwave, pots and pans etc,but you have to rent an electric kettle from them! This costs 1 euro per day ,which over a year makes this the most expensive kettle ever made. Also the car hire company they use you can do it yourself with the same company cheaper at their office in the resort, for one day we saved 10 euros by going direct. Petrol is cheaper as well,20 euros filled a tank to three quaters full from empty. To sum up this is a good complex that requires some of the bungalows to have a internal refurb to bring them up to perfect but is very good value for money and I would stay there again.I would have given this a better rating if the above had been done.
Good Basic Accomodation, FAB POOL!!
We booked this holiday as a last minute deal and went ahead with this accomodation after reading other Trip Advisor reviews. We had a fantastic holiday and would recommend both the resort, the accomodation and Lanzarote itself. This was our 3rd visit to Lanzarote, and 2nd to Playa Blanca. Playa Blanca is in the south of the island looking accross to Fuerteventura. The resort is quiet and cosmopolitan, nightlife is mainly restaurants and a few bars and the marina (not to be confused with the main ferry harbour) which is still developing is beautiful. You can catch a ferry to Fuerteventura for a day trip from the harbour. If you visit the marina, try LANI's Grill and Tex Mex for dinner. The Atlantic Gardens was situated just back from the main promenade, slightly out of the centre of Playa Blanca. It is approximately a 15-20 min walk to the centre, along the coastline, and approx. 5 mins walk to Playa Flamingo Beach. There are restaurants and supermarkets within 5 mins at Playa Flamingo aswell.] Taxis are easy to catch and VERY cheap!!! (3.50 euros from centre of resort back to Atlantic) The accomodation is bungalow style apartments which have a small terrace overlooking the gardens. Well kept and clean although basic. Cleaners came twice in the week. We were self catering but the kitchenette is only really suitable for snacks etc. in my opinion, however, I dont go on holiday to cook anyway and there are so many lovely restaurants to try!! Atlantic Gardens has a beautiful pool although cold out of summer season and a great sun terrace. There is a light snack bar on site, and reception are helpful and friendly. There is also a small play area and mini golf for the kids. A small mini market is on site but this is purely for basics. A bigger and cheaper supermarket is a 5 min walk away. I would recommend the apartments to anyone looking for clean basic accomodation, away from the resort centre but still in a nice location. I'd go back!
Great find
Just returned from a week at the Atlantic Gardens Apartments in Playa Blanca. The accommodation was great, although I found the sofa uncomfy & brought in the garden chair from outside. The rooms are spacious, very clean, we were provided with a percolator (which we used to boil the water with) and a toaster, 2 ring electric hob and microwave. It has a separate bedroom with twin beds that were pushed together, everything was lovely and clean. The small onsite supermarket had everything that I needed, including handcream, deodorants that I'd had taken off me at the airport! The pool area was again clean and there were enough beds for everyone that wanted one, there was a large enough main pool and two further paddling pools for kids. There's tennis courts and it states a minigolf area but we couldn't find this. Make sure you have you're walking shoes with you though as it's about a 40 min walk to the harbour but......... the walk is lovely and well worth it just to have a nosey at some of the other hotels. If we'd been any closer, we'd have missed the lovely Casa Joaquin restaurant, which is just past the bunker on the hill, going towards town. For cheapness, eat at Snoopys Brit Bar. We normally steer well clear of brit pubs but it's run by a spaniard (think his name's Pascal, not sure though), the foods lovely & he's great. Four beers & 2 plates of chips, bacon & egg, 17 Euros!!!! The Irish Anvil is another place, situated just under Snoopys bar that is well worth a visit. I would definitely recommend Atlantic Gardens Apartments for the peace, the walk, how clean it is. Linen is changed once a week and your towels 3 times but the maids only came to our apartment when we weren't there so you don't even notice them. There's no cockroaches in Playa Blanca as we saw, stayed at Gran Canaria and the place was covered with them! Take a hair tie if you have long hair as it's windy and make sure you lotion up as well, the breeze means you don't realise the sun's catching you until you've already burnt!!!
Nice place
We stayed at the Atlantic Gardens hotel for a week in February. The apartment was large with seperate bathroom (inc bath with shower over) and bedroom. Kitchen and appliances were like new - plenty of storage for clothes and luggage. The apartment was sericed very day except Fri and Sun - the maids were very good. TV took coins and had enough channels. The beer from the hotel bar was not v good. The staff were v helful. The hotel is just a short walk into the centre of town - taxis are all over so don't worry if you don't fancy the walk. The small town beach is v close - the dunes are a bit further away. There is plenty parking close to the hotel of you hire a car - the islands traffic is v quiet, the roads are good. We had a bit of noise from nearby building sites but nothing that bothered us or kept us awake.
What a great find....
Hi we have been going to Corralejo now for the past 3 years and we love it. Whilst I agree there are English bars plus a small area where there is an amusement arcade, if you don't like that sort of thing (and we definitely don't!) they can easily be avoided. We were there in March this year and stayed self catering in the Atlantic Garden hotel. We felt this rated above the 2* it had been allocated, rooms (bed and kitchen) were clean, cleaner did a great job, staff friendly the only down side was that there is no air-con and you have to keep the shutters closed otherwise you can get bitten to bits - take your plug in mozzie killer! We are going back there again at the end of Oct. Not sure what the food in the hotel was like as we always ate out, which also meant that we didn't get to see any of the hotel entertainment (this actually looked non-existant...). There are lots of great restaurants to eat in, especially if you go towards the harbour end of the resort (away from brit-pubs and amusements) where it is more relaxed and there is plenty of good local fresh food at reasonable rates. That said, there is a square set back half way down the main resort with a great chinese (Slow Boat III I think). The Chablis Wine Bar is also nice to have a drink in to / from dinner and there are other livlier bars. Haven't been to the Blue Jeans Steak house yet, but the reviews are always good so we plan to give it a try next time round. We visited the beach in Corralejo once, and it was ok, but we prefer to hire a car and drive to the dunes everyday where it is a lot quieter although be prepared if you are offended by nude bathing, which is extremely popular. There is a bus which runs from the resort to the dunes if you don't want to hire a car, but with a car you can visit other resorts such Caleta de Fustes, Costa Calma and Jandia - its easy to visit all of the island. Love the island and the resort...hopefully the opening of the waterpark (and I think a nightclub was also being planned) won't spoil it too much.
