Rodeway Inn Maingate East Hotel

While reading the other reviews, I keep thinking we must have been lucky on two occasions here. I've stayed at this Rodeway twice, once in Nov. 2003 and again in Sept. 2004. Both times, I had a basic room on the 1st floor in building 7000 and 8000 (don't recall room numbers). We never had smell problems, bed problems, or any such thing. I have just returned from a 5 night stay at the rodeway inn and am rediscovering my sense of smell. The room smelt so bad. As soon as you walked in the smell of damp overwhemled you. The towel rails had rust on them as did the toilet roll holder as did anything metal in the room. The awful smell was not the hardest thing to deal with because after 5 minutes your nose adjusted and you could not smell it anymore, however, throughout my stay i could not get used to the dust. We came to this hotel with far from high expectations, but thought since its a part of choice hotels, how bad could it be? Hmm Its bad! We stayed here for 9 nights and if all you need is a bed to sleep in, its ok. Some of the bad: The aircon was far too loud to have it on at night so we had to sleep in the humidity and heat, it was aweful. I would never stay at this dreadful hotel again - it's probably the worst I've ever stayed in (and I've stayed in bedbuggy places with rats in India...). We arrived in the early hours to be greeted by one of the rudest and most unpleasant desk-clerks I've ever come across. On the Expedia website, this place passes itself off as a hotel - it isn't. That is not a hotel, is a roof for poor people. That is not a 2 star is less than a half. pay a little more and don't pass the nightmare that we suffer.Guest service is very nasty all the time. too many people trying to made checkout the same day for the conditions !there are roaches coming out of the mattress and box springs. The carpet is very old and stinks.

Arrived at hotel with some reservations after reading some reviews of this hotel. We checked in and were allocated a room on the ground floor only to find the carpet soaking wet at the bathroom end of the room. All fears I then thought were about to be realised, we checked back with the front desk and were told that a mistake was made and maintainance had told the front desk not to use this room. We were travelling with a pet, so knowing that this is a whole issue for some facilities we called in advance to the thotel to check if there was any Pet, Animal, Live Animal, Fee/Deposit/Charge/Tax I personally asked the question several time as they usually tellyou that no and then creatively put a new name for the fee. the answer was clear: no sir, we only charge a REFUNDABLE deposit of $50 dollars for the whole stay, and if you return the room in the same conditins that it was provided to you we give you the money back without adn... more

My family was pleasantly surprised with every aspect of this hotel. The rooms were clean, the staff was cheerful, the pool was huge and the location was great. There's a free shuttle to Disney and a factory outlet mall. They even have a kids eat free program. We will cetainly go back!!

The pool was nice, but the noise from other rooms was awful. Security took about 40 minutes to respond. Rooms not vacuumed - carpets really dirty. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. We were quoted a rate, then it was $10.00 more and were told it was a "luxury" room. There was also a little stray cat running around looking for food - as an animal lover this really upset me as it was constantly being chased away. Why not contact SPCA and give it a good home?

We barley stayed in our rooms which was a plus and the reason for the 2 stars instead of 1. Besides the rude staff, flying ants and mildew smell in our rooms the rest was, well, okay. The kids had fun in the pool. It was heated so that was good. And that was about it for the hotel. I don't think I will stay here again.
