my wife & i went on a works reunion there were 120 in the party. The staff were absolutly fab there was nothing that was to much trouble for them.Meals were served fast & efficiantly.Bar prices were not to high(£5-50p for 1pt of beer& whiskey & lemonade).the decour in the public rooms was superb but our bedroom was in urgent need of a revamp, outdated bathroom with no shower & severly worn carpets. No iron, hair dryer or biscuits in welcoming try. We would go back but not in the room we were in.

We recently stayed with our 11 month twins and were extremely impressed with how helpful and caring all the staff in the hotel were. Our room was lovely with a sea view and the travel cots provided were in very good condition and obviously comfortable as babies slept great in them!!! High chairs were provided in the dining room at our table and were there whenever we needed them!!
Parking was very easy with lots of spaces right at the door and the swimming pool has a great shallow end for small people!!! All the guests during our stay were very friendly too!! Great time had by all would definatley recommend!!

It is good to see that the hotel is being refurbished, especially the bathrooms, but still a long way to go! Family rooms rather small! House keeping still needs improving; drawers not clean; table tops anfd furniture need a wash. Staff excellent; nothing a bother to them. Good breakfasts. Hope improvement in accommodation continues.

2nd visit within 2months , very satisfied with pleasant helpful staff, clean accomodation, good food and good location .The rooms on both ocassions were clean and the rooms with sea views are excellent . well worth a visit . we will be back. The added attraction is that the hotel is ideally situated for everyone , for the walkers and also the seniors and the family as it is close to the cliff top lift.

Arriving at the Red Lea hotel all looked superb. Having stayed in a B+B before in Scarborough (The Boundary hotel) we were a little dubious of what to expect, and more so if we'd have the same nightmares as last time. I was very pleasantly surprised.
I managed to get parked right outside the front entrance which was a real plus as there was me, my girlfriend and my 7 month old daughter, along with a boot full of luggage that JCB low loaders would have trouble shifting!
First impressions on walking in? Very dated, although elegant in a way. Very friendly receptionist staff who got us checked in and on our way to the room in a matter of minutes.
First gripe- The lift was tiny! We had to squeeze me, my girlfriend and a pram into it...sadly it reminded me of sardines. It also sounded very dodgy and took an age to come to you when you called it.
3rd Floor room 308- The highest floor we go to. The room was decorated to an acquired taste. Dark green walls and a pink bathroom, which really put me off. Needless to say though it was very clean and comfortable for the night we were going to stay in it.
A kettle, plenty of tea, coffee and sugar was supplied along with the normal bits in the bathroom (shower cap, shower gel etc). We stayed in what seemed a family room.
A double bed and single bed, along with a table and 2 chairs which looked out over the main road (good view of the sea and to watch your car!). The room was very spacious.
Sadly what let the room down was the lack of a shower; it was bath only which was a huge surprise for us as we didn’t expect it from a hotel of this calibre.
We decided to go to the indoor pool which the hotel has. Adequate size with a children’s end which is 18'' and an adult’s bigger end which is around 4ft 6'' depth.
Another problem was the hotels situation, it was quite far out from the main town centre meaning we either had to drive or get a taxi. A taxi to the front cost £4 for all of us.
I cannot rave about the staff enough, they were absolutely superb and made us feel and home and also made a fuss of our daughter!
Breakfast was of a high quality but far too small! Nonetheless it filled the hole.
£40 each for the night was a little steep in my opinion, should the price lower we would return but overall a very good stay.
I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looked for comfort without being bang in the town centre.

We stayed at the Red Lea in early July and really enjoyed ourselves. The rooms are traditional and comfy. The pool although small is excellent, the food id good English fare as I like it. The staff were all helpful at all times. We liked it so much we went again for the Scarborough cricket festival in August.
We are looking forward to our next trip soon and hope that the Spa is all in working order again.
One tip, buy a weekly ticket for the chair lift , it soon pays for itself.
