Angel Hotel

I am shocked to read the recent damning review of The Angel Hotel as I attended a function there on 8 September and stayed overnight and found the whole experience very positive . The room was spacious, tastefully furnished, had a really comfortable bed and everything was very clean. The food was excellent and many of my fellow guests have mentioned how much they enjoyed the evening. The staff were very helpful and made the function a most enjoyable event. I would strongly recommned this hotel to other travellers it has the feel of a family run hotel with professional and helpful staff.

What a great hotel!!!! It couldn't have gone much better for me, I had a great room, the staff were brilliant to me and the food was fantastic in their Print Room restaurant. Best of all I was staying in a room next door to Celtic footballer Paul Telfer who was visiting family in the town - apparently he always stays at the Angel so as a massive Hoops fan if its good enough for a Champions League player its good enough for me!!!

**AVOID** Angel Hotel, Leamington Spa, CV32 4NZ. The staff at the Angel Hotel were unhelpful and not friendly. The lady on reception was rude and the owner fobbed me off when I complained. ***********PLEASE SEE PHOTOS TO SUPPORT************* 1. Angel Hotel Urinals - smelled strongly of urine, ammonia and cheese. This was not a 'one off' but a build up of brown slime, urine, uric acid. The urinals had no santisation system, no hand driers or air freshners. There was soap scum around the hand dispenser and I felt unclean using them. My wife also said the bin for the sanitary towels needed changing and the cubicle smelled strongly of fish. 2. Angel Hotel, Leamington Spa in General state of disrepair. Ceiling tiles lifted and buckled, furniture damaged and stained. 3. Corby trouser press at the Angel Hotel was filthy as was the hair drier as were plugs. It did not look like the press had been tested since 2003 for safety. 4. Health & Safety Breach, 2 doors that should have been locked that contained chemicals dangerous under COSHH were left open with access to a boiler, a child could have walked in. Hall way full of used and new towels on floor with trailing cable. 5. Cracks in bedroom and hotel walls, appeared that a hole had been kicked into the wall 6. Bath dirty, mildew and mould and the toilet and cistern were filthy. Brown stain on bottom of toilet door and cracked tiles 7. Filthy windowsill with dead flies. 8. As professionals we felt unsafe walking to the main area. We saw discarded needles and the Angel Hotel, Leamington Spa, was situated in an area of derelict buildings. Apparently it has a 4 star rating from the English Tourist Board, how this came about is a mystery to me. Upon checking out we were greeted by a miserable and surly receptionist. The only thing that made us smile when we left was the fact her top lip had a shadow where she had been shaving

Although the room was pleasant and modern, the bathroom decor was a nostalgic reminder of the 70s and was dingy with black mold. There were few people at breakfast but no-one seemed to be available to take our order. We won't be returning.

Pretty disappointing to be honest...... tiny scruffy rooms which weren't cheap for what they were. The woman on reception appeared to be more or less dead the whole time we were there. never smiled, never did anything to be honest... breakfast was ok to be fair, but the place itself needs doing up and our room needed a damn good clean. ok if you are desperate but don't expect much or you'll be sorely disappointed.

I booked in here for a short business trip to Leamington Spa. I'd never been there before and just chose the Angel Hotel by chance. In terms of facilities, it's a good standard hotel experience. The room was clean, as was the bathroom, and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast menu was good and the dining room is bright and clean and spacious. The biggest selling point is the staff, who are helpful and friendly way beyond the call of duty. I'd recommend the Angel Hotel to anyone visiting Leamington - it's a really pleasant place to stay.

My first review, we are well traveled and we booked this hotel after reading the reviews on tripadvisor. we paid £75 for a saturday night which included full breakfast. We found the staff to be friendly and helpful , room was spacious and clean. and apparently you could get a drink in the bar until very late if thats what you fancy. Full english breakfast was cooked to perfection(10/10). cheers roger&jackie

We were travelling with our two small children (2 & 5 yrs) and had left it until the night before to book. The guy taking the call was really helpful; although there were no family rooms available he suggested two adjacent rooms for the same price. On arrival, we settled the kids into their room and the eldest had soon worked out how to use the hotel phone to call our room. We found the room door was too heavy for them to open by themselves (probably a good thing) but they seemed excited by their quite spacious twin room. Our room was a smaller room but had a double bed. It was a smoking room and we could tell, although it was well aired so not overpowering. On return to the reception desk we were offered a number of alternative rooms but decided to stick with our choice since the kids were so settled. The staff were also very helpful when it came to find out taxi numbers etc. We had rooms facing the carpark to minimise noise and for the most part we had a good night's sleep. The only disruption was from the gurgling radiator in the middle of the night. In the morning we had a very pleasant breakfast; the kids were very taken by the toasting machine, and the staff were really friendly. In summary, I'd say it was good value, the staff lifted it to the 'above average' catagory and I would stay there again.

I had a very pleasant stay at The Angel while attending a wedding in Leamington Spa along with a large group of friends. The double room was of a good size with a large, clean bathroom which seemed new. The bed was very comfortable with nice linen. Breakfast was of a good quantity, range and quality, but only served until 9.30am even on a Sunday. The staff were generally helpful and welcoming, in spite our somewhat inebriated state in the early hours of Sunday morning. The hotel is well located for a visit to Leamington and in easy reach of most attractions. Recommended.
