" On arrival at hotel, check-in was... "

On arrival at hotel, check-in was very slow. Reception area really nice, with marble floor and water feature in centre.
Room was really nice and big, we were half board so we never had any self-catering facilities. We had a T.V although most channels were German or Spanish. Not that you’re going to be watching it much!
Room was cleaned every day and was spotless.
Food was o.k. in hotel, just your average Spanish half board style!! Nothing special! I prefer to go self catering and eat out, but as Lanzarote is quite expensive we did save a lot of money by going half board. Although I couldn't have done it for two weeks.
Activities at hotel during the day were centred on the kids and evening entertainment was just average hotel stuff!! We always go out for a drink anyway though.
The centre of Matagorda is only a few minutes walk from the hotel, but is really small and is mainly singers in bars, not my scene! We got taxis into P.D.Carmen, which has slightly livelier bars with music on, but at this time of year wasn't really that busy, which surprised me.
I'd never been on holiday abroad for Christmas before and to be honest Christmas day was just another day and we sunbathed!
All in all it was a great holiday and we didn’t want to come home. We would definitely go away for Christmas again but perhaps to a livelier destination.

" We had a fab 11 nights at the Sol... "

We had a fab 11 nights at the Sol Lanzarote. The apartment was spacious and clean. The staff were very helpful and could not do enough. My two boys used the Bam Bam Club, which was excellent. We were on a self-catering basis but could pay and use the restaurant for breakfast and dinner. The choices for both were brilliant. The only downside (and this is minor) our children had a favourite pool but after 3 days it was taped off and was out of action for the whole of the holiday. The reason they gave was they were upgrading the facilities. However the colour of the water was rather disgusting. There were two other pools that we could use.
All in all a lovely holiday and we would use the Sol Lanzarote again.

The rooms did not let us down and were of a very high standard and plenty room for the 3 of us, which was 2 adults and 1 child. They were kept spotless throughout and the ongoing work that was taking place quietly around the hotel showed me this Hotel took pride in itself.
I would recommend paying for the sea view as it was stunning and uninterrupted and well worth the small additional charge.
Being self catering it was great to see a microwave and modern hob cooker if needed along with a supermarket which was reasonably priced. The bathroom area was beautiful and had really hot running water at any time which was a great change abroad.
The beach is literally on your doorstep and there was also a sandy area within the Hotel grounds for the kids to play while we delved in one of the 3 beautiful pools, one of which was heated. The kid’s pool was very popular and well within eyeshot for any mishaps that the kids get up to on holiday.
5 minutes walk away is the small Matagorda centre with a few shops and restaurants but I would recommend spending 4 euros in a taxi to central Puerto Del Carmen which has all the essentials for a fun family holiday.
The weather was great during the day but we found it a bit chilly at nights so I would recommend a light coat or cardigan for the ladies.
Overall a 9/10 holiday and we will be booking to go back in the very near future.
