" Brilliant!! "

The Nuramar apartments were brilliant. They were very clean with staff changing the beds and towels every other day. The pools were excellent, although they were only cleaned once while we were there which was a little disappointing but nevertheless excellent.
The location was perfect. A 5 minute walk to the Marina and 10 to the beach, although we stayed around the pool. The restaurants around the Marina were a little expensive and very similar but I can certainly recommend the following places to eat - Hong Kong Freestyle buffet (all you can eat for 7 euro (adult) 4 euro (child) with loads of choice plus a desert.
Also the Fiesta bar on the Marina had a very extensive menu and was very reasonable.
Leli's bar was excellent too (not on the Marina but abut 500 yards from Nuramar (its the one with the talking parrot outside!!).
I would definitely stay away from La Piscina on the Marina - very expensive and the food was awful. Also the Steak House (Torres Noir) on the Marina was always packed (we didnt eat there because everyone we spoke to said it was very expensive (50 euro for 2 people!!)
We also went on a half day boat trip which was brilliant (Don Pancho) which we caught from the Marina (15 euro adult and 5 euro child) and would definitely recommend it. The train which does a large circuit was good but I thought expensive for what it was - 7 euro each.
I would give this resort 9 out of 10 - excellent for families and would definitely go there again. Have a good holiday.

Advice: I would definitely go again - brilliant for families and location great too

Activities: Leli's bar, Fiesta bar, Hong Kong freestyle buffet - also Don Pancho boat trip

Good for: Beach

" Our last minute holiday only booked... "

Our last minute holiday only booked the day before departure turned out better than we had expected as we had no preconceptions of what Menorca had to offer.
The plane left Birmingham only slightly behind schedule but made up time owing to a favourable tail wind.
Mahon airport is a delightful gem of a place. Only 15 minutes elapsed from touchdown to walking out of the terminal to the awaiting transfer coach.
Transfer took one hour. First impressions were that the island has not been destroyed by tourism as the other Ballearics have.
The Club Nuramar boasts a local 4* rating which I feel was right. Two pools, very well kept gardens and well furnished and supplied public rooms completed the initial impression. Our apartment was very spacious including balcony it measured about 650 square feet. Everything was supplied, the only downside was the microwave which if you wanted to use it had to be picked up and transported to a suitable power point.
At night the apartment was chilly (back end of September) the central heating wasn't turned on but by leaving the two electric hob rings on full for an hour overcame this problem.
The apartment was less than ten minutes walk to the marina which sported, in a reasonable not over the top way, a vast array of shops, bars and eateries.
Would recommend "El Pato" for simple well cooked food very reasonably priced with service second to none. The restaurant is very popular so waiting for a table is sometimes necessary but well worth it. Avoid the "Indian" meals though as they are expensive and disgusting.
Getting around the island is relatively easy with a decent bus service. Book through tickets whenever possible as these will save you money.
For the more energetic (we are both pensioners) the cliff walk,to Cala Blanca is well worthwhile. About five miles and two hours level walk it is a rocky scramble so sensible shoes are necessary. Remember to take water with you as there are no watering holes en route.
A visit to the old capital,Cuitadella, on the bus takes less than 15 minutes. loads of bus stops all over the resort. Take a cooling drink at C'an Nito on the main square and people watch-very civilised!
For families with young children, the beach is very flat and the water crystal clear. There is a similar beach just a few minutes walk away at the neighbouring resort of Son Xoroguer.
We also visited the resorts of Cala Blanes, Los Delfines and Forcat, what a disappointment. Very brash and commercialised we caught the next bus back to Cuitadella.
All in all a splendid place for a short break. For the like us old foggies who like to to be adventurous, a week was just about right before boredom set in.
