Just home from Lanzarote and we had a ball. The apartments, had nice breakfast bar large size room for 2 adults the restaurant. I cannot say or praise it enough and only 30 seconds walk away. Towels changed twice in the week we were there and bed the same. The food is to die for, and very cheap.
My son had a great time although I will say the pool is quite deep. When you book for Matagorda you are well informed that you’re near the airport. The last flight that you hear would be about 11pm in the evening and maybe the odd one or two a little later. I was in Puerto del Carmen last year and found it very or more expensive than Matagorda, but at least in Matagorda you can browse the shops without any hassle from the keepers to come in and buy.
Going back next year to same place it was that enjoyable. I will however not be going with first choice, the rep went missing, or was nowhere to be found when you looked for him, and when you called there "helpline" well that was a joke. Apart from that a great holiday and highly recommended.

We are just back from a very sunny week in Matagorda. We found the apartments quite satisfactory, very clean, towel changes frequent, but maybe they could do with a bit of redecoration, also they were not very well equipped.
Local restaurants were just ok, but there is a much better selection in Puerto Del Carmen which is about an hours walk away, which is further than most brochures specify. As we booked the accommodation and resort on arrival we can't really complain, but I would recommend staying nearer to Puerto Del Carmen.
If the weather had been poor this would not be a good accommodation in which to stay. But all in all we enjoyed ourselves and we enjoy our walking.

Just back from a week in the San Marciel. we left Dublin in the rain for Lanzarote in the rain! Complex has lots of steps and ramps and are extremely slippery when wet. the apartments are very basic and not all that clean. When we arrived our apartment floor was soaking wet as the rain has seeped in under the patio door. We had a first floor apartment. The towels/linen were only changed once in the week we were there and I found the staff very unhelpful.
We requested two extra pillows the day we arrived but it took 3 days for them to arrive. we also had to pay Euro10 per hour to keep our apartment after the midday deadline as we had a late check out. Even then we were not told until the very last minute whether we had the room or not. Matagorda is a quiet resort and I would recommend visiting Puerto de Carmen at night for eating out. The beach in Matagorda is very poor. Just a few sun beds with no toilets or working showers.
The San Marciel also has a small supermarket and restaurant. It is right beside the airport and there is a lot of noise from the aircraft flying over. Our apartment used to vibrate!
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in Lanzarote but would not be too keen to go back to the San Marciel again.

We a group of 6 Ladies arrived at San Marcial on the 8th of May. We had no rep on the bus to give us information. There were no blankets in our apartments , we had to wait until the following day to get them as there was no one at reception. Reception closes at 10 o’clock, this was 10 thirty.
In the week we were there our sheets were never changed, bedrooms never swept. W e would have swept them ourselves if there had been a brush available. The cleaner was in on Friday and left 2 toilet rolls between 4 of us and they were supposed to last us until the following Monday when we left.
In spite of all this we had a great holiday. We won’t be recommending the San Marcial to our friends.
