Honestly, people who write are writing bad reviews clearly were expecting a 5* resort and spa!
The hotel really isn't as bad as people are making out. After reading reviews, I was so scared about me and my three friends staring at the Galera Hotel. However, when we arrived we found the rooms were to a higher standard than anticipated.
We read that there was only one plug; however, there is actually two. We also read that the rooms get really hot as there is no air conditioning, but there is a fan which we kept on the whole time and we opened the balcony door in the day when we were in so the room didn't get too hot. :)
Also, I read that people disliked the club 18-30 reps which I didn't understand as they were really friendly. :)
Additionally, people moaned about Pepe, the night watchman saying that he stole things but we never had any problems with him! So we recommend buying a safe, which is 34 euro's a week but you get 10 euro's back at the end of the holiday, so we got one between the four or us which worked out to be cheap! :)
The breakfast wasn't great, but we went to a nearby resturant which wasn't expensive. Furthermore, we were worried that San Antonio itself was going to be really costly; however, alcohol is cheap in the supermarkets and the West End has LOADS of cheap bars, free entry clubs (including Eden and Es Paradis) and pubs. :)
At the end of the day, we payed for a cheap holiday and got more than what we expected :) People are way too fussy and the Galera Hotel is what you make it! :)
My friends and I had an amazing time and definitely recommend staying here! :D

The rooms were basic, which is fine, but one plug...in the bathroom ! The staff were unfriendly and made no effort to mingle with the guests or create an atmosphere, the balcony door had no lock, several robberies happened during our stay, with no signs of forced entry, the bar shut at 10pm most nights, the pool is tiny and loses the sun around 4pm. We made the mistake of one night leaving our key behind reception as is suggested by the hotel, when we returned we had to wait half an hour for any staff to show their faces so we could get into out hotel, however with an open door and unlocked keybox, anyone could have walked off the street, taken the key and entered your room. This hotels only saving grace is its close vicinty to the beach and the main nightlife of san antonio. You will get a cheap deal with this hotel, but pay the extra and go somewhere better...awful.

Seen better prison cells than this place.rooms are bogging, water from the shower takes ages to drain away not good wen you use the shower 2nd. eventful hotel, locals say its cursed and I can understand why, we had a fire, muggings, death on our stay. Reps are only helpful if you buy the 18-30 package, wouldnt bother wi this coz you get in eden and es paradise for free most nights and the west end is dirt cheap for drink. night gaurd is a creep, dont sleep with the balcony door open high chance of getting eating alive from the bugs. Ibiza itself is amazing, avoid shaking hands wi the black women by the beach though.
- Advice: dont spend alot of time in the galera.

(4 lads 22-25yrs) The hotel itself is everything me and my mates expected and the room conditions were more than fine (but would the hotel just put some fridges in their rooms already).
No Ants or cockroaches to speak of, the Dog outside our room annoyed me for about 3 seconds till i realised i didnt care and went to sleep.
On the other hand, after reading reviews about certain people going in your rooms and removing items, me and the lads were prepared so locked all suitcases etc... so nothing could be stolen! buuuuuuut on one dark wednesday evening, I didnt put lotion on all day, drinking at the beach and then ended up with sun stroke and could not make it out that night. At 4.30am i woke up to a key in the door, i thought maybe the lads got too smashed and had come back early...but no it was Pepe the night clerk, he proceeded to look around my room until i shot up like a vampire and asked him what the hell are you doing in my room. His reply in panic "oh oh oh i heard music, party party in this room". It is gone 4am, i am asleep in the dark, best party ever, get out of my room Pepe before you get hurt.
Needless to say the nightman cometh! Lock up your stuff as he goes into rooms and takes your stuff. 18-30 reps deny all of this by the way and are one annoying bunch.
The end. On the bright side, best holiday of my life, Ibiza is the ****

Average hotel. Small pool area. Arrived at 1am and the night guy didn't speak English. We asked for a safe as soon as we arrived, but he either didn't understand or let on that he didnt. We went out leaving some money hid in the room until we got a safe the next day, but when we returned at 6am, 3 of us, from different rooms had been robbed of our cash. The rooms were locked, with no evidence of forced entry, which is very suspicious. The police, hotel staff and the Thomas Cook rep wern,t interested and did nothing. Oddly my wallet, minus the cash, was handed into reception on the day I checked out. Won,t stay here again and I would warn others not to be caught out like us.
- Advice: Better staff who can talk English.

Booked the hotel without looking at reviews first was a big mistake!
So was stuck with this hotel. The hotel itself is just poor, i dont know how anyone could write a good review on it ?! there are a block of apartments opposite the hotel that have the yappiest dogs ever! and in the morning they don't mix well with a hangover! there is no air con, you have a fan instead and it blows hot air around the room witch is useless!
The towels and sheets get changed once a week! there is one powerpoint in the room! The pool is the size of a big jacuzzi!
Pepe the night receptionist is a lad! and the cleaners love it when you speak spanish to them.
other than that i had one of the best weeks of my life!
I will not be returning to this hotel next year! probably book ibiza rocks instead.

stayed here as a group of 10 girls and every one loved it! We had an absolute blast! Only problem being we forgot to bring sun tan lotion so the first night we stayed there we burnt to a crisp! hahaha but still an amazing time, you CANNOT beat the ibiza nightlife! And all of us girlies had the best holiday ever! It was completely safe, and the rooms were basic, but we didnt really need 5* luxury, especially when we had all we really needed, beach, pool, and nightlife, so it was an absolute bargain! Would recommend it to anyone who wants to have a really fun holiday!!

So I satyed here last summer (2010) with a load of girlfirends and I had an absolutely amazing time! It was a really fun place, not too wild, just perfect for a young holiday, the accomadation is a little basic, but the location EASILY made up for not having a TV etc. I mean its so close to the beach we spent all day sunning ourselves, and the hotel was what we needed, low key and safe, so I for one loved my stay here and would definately reconmend, and dont understand all these other angry reviews!
