Strongly Recomended Hotel in Sunny Beach !
10 / 10
Jul 2011, NES

Hotel Juli is one of the best hotels i have ever been in eastern european holiday resorts.I go there every year and I am always pleased and fully satisfied. Let me tell you more: The rooms are very cozy and comfortable , clean and organised, large and spacious. There is no noise coming into the room unless you live your balcony doors open. The hotel is just 2 minutes walking from the best central beach, you can feel the sea breeze right from your room. There is a variety of choices for your free breakfast every morning,e.g. english breakfast, burgers etc...( you can't expect better than this for free). The air conditioners are free in the rooms, unlike every other hotel around and in any other country are very expensive to use. So its great! There is a nice swimming pool outside and sorrounded with sunlungers, so its all you need. Juli is located just on the heart of sunny beach, close to best night clubs (amora, vikings, iceberg, revolution, slam cafe and more and more) and the best bars ( mexo, amigos, hineken, bounce and more). There are many shops around it and just across the road working 24/7 so you get what you need at any time.
The hotel staff is friendly, kind, helpful, and aware of what they are doing. The receptionists speak perfect english and helping with anything you need. I have seen many people have commented on how their keys are unsecure, i dont think it is true, because everytime we asked for our room key, the receptionist asked our names and checked on the computer, if not there i dont think they will let anyone in. It is very secure and strickt on that.
I strongly recomend this place if you desire a great and fun holiday in the nicest sunny town in Bulgaria.

Best holiday so far. Club 18-30 was fab reps were a great laugh. Hotel very basic but clean price list was a joke if you broke or got anything on the towel’s we got hair dye on one and got charged. Pool is tiny but nice a quite just gets the racket from the main road. Breky was rank not worth getting up for if you do just ask for toast and they make it for you. Balconies are not secure so make sure you lock your door when you’re not there.

After reading reviews online I came to the conclusion that it was going to be a very very basic hotel designed for young clubbers.. e.g. noise, mess and general low standards all round.
I was wrong though. We got a room that was on the end of the building which was curved and had a much better layout inside, and was considerably bigger than other rooms. We also had a bigger bathroom with a bath and shower whereas the smaller rooms only had showers. We only used the bath a couple of times though and didn't really have a need for it, but it was a nice bonus to have. The double bed was very comfortable, plenty of pillows and thin blankets. A nice curvey sofa at the opposite end of the room, smaller matching seat and a coffee table plus and nice spacious balcony. The room was very clean and had a TV and a fridge, as well as a hair dryer in the bathroom and decent air conditioning. We couldn't really have asked for more for what we needed. There was hardly any noise from inside the hotel, but a fair bit outside so if you're planning on going to bed sober and/or you're not generally able to fall asleep quickly, it may be a bit close to all the partying for your requirements. On the other hand, the hotel is minutes walk from the beach, and directly opposite shops, take aways, restaurants and a great club called Iceberg. Other clubs are 5 minutes walk away. The pool is pretty small but has surrounding loungers so it's all you need if you're just wanting to relax in the sun and cool off in the water. There are other larger pools at surrounding hotels that you can use for free if you're that bothered.
The security at the hotel could be of higher standard, as you're able to literally walk through onto every balcony on your floor so we would shut the curtains and make sure the balcony door was locked whenever we weren't there. You can give your key to the receptionist whenever you go out but they aren't locked away, and all you have to do to get it back is tell them a room number and they will hand the key over no questions asked. We made jokes about asking for different room keys to see what new stuff we could steal, but it literally could be that easy if some dodgy folk were around. We never had any trouble though and didn't hear of anyone else having any either.
One noteable thing about the hotel is their price lists for any damaged goods. They have one stuck on the wall in the room so if you break or lose anything, you will have to pay before they will give you your passport back. They typically charge several times the valure of whatever it is you may happen to break though so be careful about missing towels, broken glasses or god forbid breaking the bath, as that will set you back £250.
Excellent holiday all round for us and I highly recommend this hotel for anyone who is looking for a comfortable stay for their cheap party holiday. Oh, and everyone in the hotel is English pretty much unlike a lot of hotels that have mainly foreign guests.
Probably not a good idea to go if you're looking for a quiet relaxing stay however due to the location.

Wel before I went on this holiday, I had read the review and were a little scared but I thought everyone's taste is different need to try this for myself.
When arrived at the airport Gemma and Dan greeted us with a smile and pointed us in the right directing for our bus. When we arrived at the hotel the staff were pleasant and full of smiles.
The room we were given were basic but did the job (what do you want for that price).
In the morning we had our welcome meeting, all the rep's (Gemma,Dan,Iain) were there and we all had a good laugh, I never felt presured into buying any of the nights, but as I have already done the club 18-30 thing I knew how much of a good time it is and just booked everything. We were told if we didn't want to purchase the whole thing we could pay on the night which is quite good as well.
Every night we went out the rep's were always up for a laugh always had there game heads on to make sure everyone had a good time and I can safely say every night I was out with them I had a blast.
Gemma our rep for the hotel Juli was amazing, she was sooooo funny and if we had any problems we could speak to her and she would get them sorted. Saw her everyday and had a good giggle with her.
I can say the rep's made my holiday more enjoyable than I though it would have been. In my eyes the rep's are brill at their job and should keep doing what they do as my holiday was amazing thanks to them (especially Gemma )
Thanks Guys Gemma, Iain,Dan,Claire

I was on holiday at the Juli Hotel the 11 Sept this year. I had read the reviews before going and was totally dreading it but hey you have to check t out for yourself.
When we arrived Dan and Gemma greeted us at the airport very nicely and indicted where to get the bus. When we arrived at the hotel the staff were very pleasant. Got to our room and it is basically what you pay for (what do you expect booking club 18-30). The rooms were basic but for that price what do you expect!!!
Had our welcome meeting in the morning and the reps were very funny, never presured you into booking anything and were told if we didnt want to pay full thing we cud book on the night. Anyways we booked the full thing as we had done the club 18-30 thing before and loved it.
Every night we went out we had a blast the reps made our holiday more enjoyable than we had originally thought. The rep's Gemma,Iain, Dan and Claire where very funny and were up for a laugh. I would recommend any young people going on this holiday book with the reps because they are ace.
Seen our rep every day had a good laugh with Gemma (she is dynamite).
Club Orange the main night club is a bit of a distance away from all the other pubs we were taken to but the rep's put on a bus to take you there. When you are bladdered in there and just wanna go home it is a bit daunting how to get home but once you haggle with the taxi drivers you are home within minutes and for as little as 10lv.
If anyone is booking up I would recommend this hotel and I thought it was ace and the reps were brialliant aswell and made my holiday.
Thanks again Rep's
xx

hey everyone, thought id write my review now while its fresh in my mind. got back from the holiday about 10.30am today instead of 5.20 due to delays (which are understandable, the lack of information given by the bulgarian staff was rediculous, and no thomas cook reps were there)
anyway, we stayed at the hotel for 2 weeks. upon arrival, staff are lovely, we got our room and handed over our passports. we had a stroke of luck with our room - 400a - the only room with 4 poster bed..think its the largest aswell so that was good.
on the way up the stairs, we recieved our first warning from people going home to watch our towels- that the maids would steal them and try and charge you for them later - so we spent every morning and night laying out our 4 towels to make it clear we knew where they were and would know if any went missing.
over the next few days things were ok - had our welcome meeting, and as expected, were told about the excursions, trying to get us to do more than we wanted to, so if you're not a very confident person then i wouldnt book any as they try all types of selling to get you to hand over more money. Our Rep Gemma - who we saw maybe 4 times the full holiday and was totally unhelpful, gave us a sheet of paper to write down anything that was damaged in the room "just incase" the staff tried to charge us for anything later, then she knew it was already broke or missing- for example, there are lists in every room stating prices charged for each item lost/broken.
Another problem was the excursions, it was totaly bucketing down with rain and they still wanted us to go on the pub crawl and get drenched, and wouldnt re schedule, so a few people who obviously didnt care about anything apart from getting bladdered, went on it. we were told in order to get any mney back we would have to have a doctors letter stating you were unfit to go.
the free breakfast is another joke - cheeseburger, hamburger, club sandwich, one of these, which all come with chips. yes, theres cereal and milk, and toast, but when you see the flies hovering around it all it puts you off.
the bar staff make up prices all the time with their drinks, and also take a service charge so make sure you know what you give them, aswell as in the supermarket across the road - i had an argument with the bulgarian woman because she was adding on a 0.40 service charge every time she served any of us - only 1 did it, out of pure cheek, so when i asked her what it was she started shouting in bulgarian. also, the bottles of juice say 1.89 lv on them...they charge 3.40.....dont understand why.
bathroom is a wet room, be careful because we started with a shower mat...then we reported that it had been taken and we still didnt get it back, i can imagine it being very dangerous if you were to slip.
every day about 5 times the old man from the resteraunt downstairs blows a whistle at you asking you to go in for drinks..we did a few times but after decided we didnt want to give the hotel any more money seeing as the service we were getting was rubbish.
on the last day, you get chucked out your room at 12pm. our flight was meant to be at 3.20, but instead was 8am. you can pay to keep it on which is 50lv until 10pm and after that you have to sit in reception waiting for the bus with no toilet or nothing to do.
when we left, they check your room before giving back your passport - they tried to charge us again for a glass we had broken and paid for it to be replaced...and the people we met had a mysterious stain on their bed when they checked out and had to pay 30lv for the cleaning of it. we took photos before checking out for evidence that everything was fine before.
also...beware of club orange. the reps promote here, so do thomas cook. we went here totaly sober, had to go down a dark alleyway to get there so would be very dangerous leaving if drunk, but when inside, 1 of our group went to the bar by herself and bought 2 drinks. she came back, said it didnt taste write but we didnt know why. they took it back to the bar and asked for a new one, but they just topped it up. after 2 mins we realised there was something in the bottom of the glass..a thick powder, you could scrape it off! our drink was spiked by the staff! so we told the head rep Iain, who said he would do a report on it. didnt seem to be taken very seriously at all.
our holiday was good because we made it good ourselves. nothing to do with reps or staff there who were totally ignorant and unhelpful.
think hard before you book here, because yes it looks like a cheap hliday...but they find something to charge you for when you leave

WhAt A ToTaL PiLe OF [--]!!! Upon arriving at the hotel it didnt really seem that bad as the holiday was a lads holiday and the accommodation wasn't really our main concern. The nightlife was really good on the first night as my mates and I did our own thing since we arrived at around midnight and drink was cheap. we then met the lovely 18-30 rep Charmaine (yes her name was the same as what you use to wipe your behind!). They practically force you to pay for their 18-30 package where only 2 nights out of the week we paid for were actually half decent. the "free" bar was a joke as the alcohol could barely be tasted unless you drank about 100 drinks in one night. we were given the first two rooms on the 3rd floor where both air conditioning units dripped and the bathroom was basically a 1 2 metre box room with a ridiculous sheet separating the shower and toilet. The whole room basically became a swimming pool after having a shower. The cleaners are all smiley smiley however like to "accidently' remove items from the room so you end up getting charged at the end of your stay. My friend and I got done over by the hotel as we "apparently' stained the mattress purple and bedding. Obviously because my friend and I carried a bottle of bleach with us while on holiday. All in all i wouldn't even recommend this to people who want a cheap scabby holiday. I would rather eat my own arm than stay there. However Juli the legend who randomly quacked at us was the only person that would make me want to go back. QUACK!!!

Not so bad. We got what we paid for.

Jul 2009, AmyJoB

The hotel is in a great place, it's on a road of bars and resturants, literally a 5min walk to the main square (where two of the most popular clubs, Viking and Revolution, are). It's nearly directly opposite a club called Iceberg, so if you ever get lost and need directions or a taxi tell them Iceberg as no one we spoke to had heard of Hotel Juli! There is a little shop opposite with all the snacks and drinks you could want and it's ok to take them to the room, at least nobody stopped us. Just to the left of the shop is a fast food place which is great for a late night snack. They do a huge slice of the nicest pizza for 2lev (about £1). The beach is probably a 10min walk away, max, if you know the right route. (I think the best way to go was straight on past Iceberg and the haunted house.)It can be easy to get lost in Sunny Beach so make sure you look out for markers the first few times you go out, we got lost!
The hotel itself is ok. The rooms are clean, the maid comes in everyday and tidies (i'll tell you more about that later) but the towels are changed about every 3 days (enough, we found). Air Con is free, hurray! And theres a fridge and a TV (with music channels, though obviously everything else was in Bulgarian). The balconies have slanting walls so that you can easily climb onto other balconies. The night we arrived my friend and I had seven guys climb over to say hello, which was fine with us! There is no safe in the room, you have to pay for one at reception. The bathroom was fine, proper flushing toilets in Bulgaria (not like Greece where you put the toilet paper in a bin) and I didn't have any problmes with the shower. It's not very strong but there is a shower curtain. You only get one key per room. If you don't have the key the lady at reception lets you in the room without any questions, which is a worrying. They also don't seem to mind if you bring people back who arn't staying at the hotel. Theres a long list of charges on the wall for if you break or lose anything, but we didn't. Speaking to other people we found out that room sizes vary, you just have to see what you get.
Right, the maid. Don't leave anything around the room. The maid moves all of your things, (which made me a little uncomfortable), for example, she would put our clothes into our cases and line our shoes against the wall. Not a problem, exactly, I just didn't like the idea of her touching and going through my things. The problems came when our excursion tickets went missing. We'd left them either on the bed or table and they disappeared along with some other papers after the maid had come. We hadn't taken them out of the room, we hadn't used them, so we know it was her. She probably threw them away. We had the greatest stress as we thought we'd have to pay for them again but luckily we didn't have to, though under different circumstances we would have (long story, lets just say that we were lucky and had a good rep). Very stressful so don't leave anything around.
Breakfast was either full English, Cheeseburger and chips or a club sandwich (another burger type thing, though i didn't have it). It was pretty good, has been improved since some of the other reviews i've read. Obviously the full English isn't very 'English', for a better fry up go to Brothers or one of the other resturants that specify 'english bacon', 'english sausages' or 'Heinz beans.' Brothers is also a good place for food in general. The main menu at the Hotel isn't bad, food was generally alright in Bulgaria.
The pool is tiny, not worth hanging around. Theres a bar a the hotel but it's not great, the cocktails are boring, you're better off walking a few steps down the road. You'll pass deals as you go if you're looking for cocktails, such as cocktails for 5lev (about £2.50) and buy one get one free for 7lev (about £3.50 for 2 cocktails!).
So there you have it. Other things to remember is to ignore the men trying to put fruit in your mouth, they'll charge you afterwards, and ignore the gypsy children (often selling animals) and they'll go away. No real problems though, I felt very safe in Bulgaria, even at night. There are lots of little shops to look around. When booking excursions School Disco was good, Silent Disco is somthing not to miss, the beach party was rubbish (the pool was filled with water, not foam, and it was freezing! They may have fixed the problem by now though). You can't go wrong by keeping with the 1830s crowd. The reps this year were brilliant, all of them were lovely.
So to conclude, Sunny Beach is a great place to go and although I wouldn't specifically go back to Hotel Juli it was fine, it served its purpose. A great place to stay if you want somewhere cheap and close to the action.

the hotel did serve it's purpose, it...

Sep 2008, Mr S Swanson

the hotel did serve it's purpose, it was just somwhere to sleep and nothing else. the cleaner was moody, and the secruity guard hugo, (mario) was a complete nutter, hit one of us for goining pool at night (even though there were no signs saying we weren't allowed in after certain hours, the breakfasts were disgusting, but there was sumwhere down the road that did a great full english for about 8 lev. the hotel is not a place for couples or families, we went in a group of 6 lads and it's brilliant for just that.
I woulnt advise getting a taxi anywhere either, complete scaming little ********s they say one price, and when you get there they double it and wont let you out till you pay, (my mate only had 15lev they said ok, then they mugged him took a camera and all money even a tesco club card.
apart from all that bulgaria itself is a great place nightclubs are mint reps are ok (didn't do much though. beach is ace loads of things to do ,
Enjoy.

This is a very basic hotel very much...
7 / 10
Sep 2008, Mr A Roberts

This is a very basic hotel very much catering for young groups of people, so I wouldn't advise families or elderly people staying here during the peak season.
Location- Smack bang in the middle of the resort. Great if you're planning to go clubbing etc. It's also quite close to the beach.
Cleanliness - I can't complain that the hotel was dirty, however the towels are not changed daily and have a habit of going missing!! Which will fetch you back round 20lev!! The cleaners do not speak good English.
Food - DISGUSTING! If you've been out clubbing all night and are struggling to get out of bed by 10, (breakfast only served till 10am) DON'T BOTHER! The milk is warm, the beans are cold and the toast not even toasted! Give it a miss and just eat out.
Drink - 1lev (40 odd pence) for a pint!! till 12am every night!! Can't go wrong!
Staff - The receptionist is lovely but the rest struggle to speak English. The only other staff are the cleaners and a "security guard". They are really obsessed with their towels though. They are like gold dust and if one goes missing, you WILL be paying for it. They check your room for any loss or damage before you check-out and won't give you your passports until all is OK. Reps were great!
Security - Bring padlocks!! The bigger the better lol! And don't keep your key behind the reception desk cos they mix them up and anyone can get into your room! The security guard that watches the hotel was pi**ed most of the time and rather than watch the hotel was across the road having a beer! Plus you can walk from balcony to balcony which is great if u have friends in the room next door like we did but not if u keep ur clothes on there to dry.
Rooms - They are alright. They do the job. Basic shower, toilet, sink, beds, sofa bed, tv, air-con, mini-fridge. Not all rooms are the same obviously. Beware - we were left without any hot water for 3 days!!!
Pool - Almost pointless. It's TINY. It's unattended but is however open 24hrs a day. I suggest that you visit another hotel just up the road. (I forget the name but it's big and had it's name in big blue on the top of it) The pools there are big and are free to use for anybody!!! They only charge if you want to use a lounger - 5lev and unlimited use of their slides is also 5lev. We use to go here almost daily. It's really close. Go out the hotel, turn left then 1st left then right and you'll see a huge sign by the hotel saying free pools. It's great!
*Oh ye, there's no lift in the hotel and I didn't see any porters either so you have to carry all your luggage up the stairs yourself.*
Summary - If your young and in Sunny Beach for the partying and wont be in the hotel much like we were then it's great. However if you want a quiet holiday and want to stay in the hotel most of the time then you'd be better staying home.

we stayed at the hotel juli for one...
5 / 10
Sep 2008, johnny1

we stayed at the hotel juli for one week in the first week of September, on first impressions we were all quite pleased and satisfied (14 of us), the receptionist was a fitty and we were all located on the first floor. we were told that towels would be changed every 3 days and rooms cleaned too, this only happened once during our stay, at the end of the stay we were charged 30 lvs for the cost of one of the towels that had gone missing (15 quid), watch out for charmaine from thomas cook, 18-30 club, she talks so fast that u dont understand her and shes the scam artist! the brochure suggest that this hotel is 25metres from the main pool - yeh right! although i will agree that it is in a good location but is still about 200metres from the sea and beach. i would actually recommend the neptun hotel opposite the juli, this is much larger with a bigger pool, friendlier and IS 25 metres from the beach - all at a reasonable priice!
I would also add that being on the first floor, people would through down all sorts from the higher floors.
Apart from that the hotel wasnt that bad, but i wouldnt recommend for families or couples, we went as a stag group so was prepared that some parties that would carry on until the early hours.
The recepionist was quite polite and kind however the cleaner was grumpy and moody. a frind actually paid her extra to change the bed sheets - shouldnt this of been compulsory?
Apart from that the hotel may look nice on the brochure and online but in reality is dwarfed by the surronding hotels, in comparison to other hotels hotel juli is below average.
