" I have just returned from 1 weeks... "

I have just returned from 1 weeks stay at the Costa Sal Apartments in Matagorda. After reading reviews i was unsure but thought i would make up my own mind on them. Well i have to say that i was really impressed with the whole complex, very clean and tidy. The pool was beautiful and spacious. The grounds within the complex were very well kept. The rooms were lovely but the bathroom was a bit disappointing, not very up to date but had shower and bath. The shower was broke when we arrived but we reported it to reception and it was fixed within the hour. Cleaners came every day and they never annoyed us, they just worked away done there job and out again. We didnt eat in the resturant but the bar was lovely and they have a happy hour from 4 to 7 everyday, which was great. Over all i would highly recommend the Costa Sal and would go back again no problem.

" Well we just got back from a great... "

Well we just got back from a great hol today, after reading the reveiws we did not know what to expect but we thought we would make our own mind up.The bungalow was lovely, clean, and spacious.we were 2 adults 3 children, and friends staying in an apartment which was just as nice, a very quite complex ,plenty of room at the pool each day ,we felt very safe ,code to enter on and off complex, security guards walking around at night, ideal for all. A five minute walk to beach, supermarket, and resturants.Main town was a half hour walk away but only 4 euro in a taxi.which was not to busy before 11pm.The highlight of our childrens holiday was watching the planes landing and taking off it was a ten minute walk to the run way kids loved it,you may think it would be noisey but it there was very little noise. It was ideal for pushchairs and wheelchairs to walk along the beach front. There was only one down side and that was no childrens nightly entertainment at the complex only a parrot show on tuesday night which started at 11pm rather late .We did enjoy the cowboy night in rancho texas.Water park was not very big and a lot of money. All hotel staff were very helpful and extremly friendly a great family holiday for all.

" I have been going to Lanzarote every... "

I have been going to Lanzarote every year at the same time and same place (Costa Sal) with my mum, dad and sister for 14 years and I love it :]:]:]:]:]. There is so much to do and the beach is so close. There are to swimming pool which makes it so good. I dont think that i could go to Lanzarote and not stay in the Costa Sal complex. We have a timeshare there which makes it even better. We have never in 14 years of going to Costa Sal had any problems with anything. We love Costa Sal and Lanzarote.

" just returned from a week at the cost... "

just returned from a week at the cost sal in matagorda, my twin girls age 12 loved it, we found the apartments clean and very well equiped, although we were half board we had a kitchen area in the apartment which i think had not long been installed, lovely ceramic hob and oven, fridge freezer, microwave, even an iron and ironing board. The breakfast was self service, basic but adequet, the evning meal was 3 courses with about 4 choices of each starter, main and dessert with the menu changing on a daily basis, tuesday is barbacue night with plenty of choice, the staff were very friendly and helpful, although the cleaners were like billy whizz, in and out in about 3 minutes, i would say the only downside was the lack of evening entertainment but the sol lanzarote just down the road was excellent. All in all a well enjoyed break, inexpensive and would definately consider returning.

" Have been staying in the Costa... "

Have been staying in the Costa Sal every year since 2002. Spent 7 days in May 08.
Security is still very good but appartments have became quite run down. Have not been painted for years. Not a lot of maintance being done. No hot water in the mornings when its cloudy as its heated by solar panels. No back up heating system.
Appartment when we arrived were not well cleaned. Fridge was de frosted and floor was flooded in the kitchen.
Equipment is still good with kettle, toaster, Coffee maker supplied. Not a lot of cutlery supplied with few drinking glasses.
Good parking if you hire a car.

Security Box in every appartment at extra charge.

" Although very quiet, it was... "

Although very quiet, it was pleasently so, an ideal get away for that much needed rest before the x-mas rush. We will definatley consider visiting again next year.
The apartment was spacious enough and the facilities plentiful, with the added bonus of a clean pool.
although being very quiet, you are only a taxi ride away from the busier local resorts and ammenities.

" Not a bad place to go and chill out... "

Not a bad place to go and chill out but there’s not a lot of activity happening. However worth its money.

If you are the relaxing type then this could be the holiday for you. Taxis are available to take you to other resorts for shopping and dining.

" Accommodation was really dated. Can't... "

Accommodation was really dated. Can't believe this is a 'Timeshare'.

Everything was dated, included 3 bouquets of dried flowers, collecting dust! Veranda furniture was filthy and only had one room clean in the 7 days.

Pool was freezing and furniture well worn and dirty.

3 points rating for staff on reception for being friendly.

Does anyone know of any decent time share accommodation in Lanzarote?

Local market square looked as if it was falling down but the food was good.

" The apartments are nice (we stayed in... "

The apartments are nice (we stayed in a single roomed apartment) and the reception staff are friendly.

The swimming pools are freezing but warmer than the sea which is colder than I’m used to.

There is a really hot guy who works in the bar lol. Matagorda itself is quite dead and the apartments are about a 10minute walk to Matagorda square which has quite a few bars, restaurants, shops etc.

Excursions that I highly recommend are: RANCHO TEXAS - Fantastic fun for all ages.

Grand Island Tour - Which is good especially the volcano bit and the camel ride.

The submarine ride on the other hand is interesting but abit too pricey for the little time you spend on the submarine and we didn't see many fish (no sharks, octopi etc).

Also it's really windy over there as well and very hot. At its peak the temperature hit 36 but you don't feel it because of the wind and remember to use a very high SPF over there too because you will burn very quickly.

The people there are friendly and most speak English and it's very popular with Irish people so there's loads of Irish bars.

" Just back from a very enjoyable week... "

Just back from a very enjoyable week at the Costa Sal in Matagorda.

The Bungalows are very spacious and clean set around a small but nice pool.

Our only gripe is that while the cleaners come every day and washed the floors and generally tidy up, they never changed the bed linen and only once changed the towels.

All in all we had a very pleasant holiday and loved Matagorda. We found it very clean and safe for our two teenage children. Would definitely go back.

" Hi all, just back from Costa Sal and... "

Hi all, just back from Costa Sal and would really have to think about it next time though.

The bungalow was spacious with a nice little front garden. However the cleaning service was nonexistent. I had to complain twice about the fact that our floor had not been swept (I even asked for a brush but was turned down), beds were not made once, linen not changed for the week either, towels recycled from the floor and only changed once.

Other than that we enjoyed ourselves Rancho Texas is a must, Reps will push for the Tues evening however with small kids it is better to go during the day, opens at 9.30 taxi only €4.

Parrot show a must. Bus service is also handy if you are going further afield one every 20mins and cheap. Unlimited food choice only avoid Tex-Mex as they charge you for everything (including bread rolls before your starters, although food is good).

If you get a taxi to the airport try to agree a price beforehand as it can be between €6 and €11 depending on the driver.

Will return to resort next year, although not sure if we will pay a premium again for a shoddy cleaning service.

" We first went to the Costa Sal... "

We first went to the Costa Sal apartments in 1992 and have just booked another holiday there for June of this year - this will be our 7th visit in all, having been there every year for the past 3 years, our last visit being April 2006.

We just love it!! It has to be one of the most relaxing places I’ve ever visited - you just feel like you’re coming home once you arrive into Reception. The facilities are wonderful with plenty to do on site if you’re feeling energetic or, if you’re not, just laze by the beautiful azure blue pools.

The restaurant/bar has lovely food and very friendly staff and there is also a well stocked supermarket if you are going self-catering. The apartments themselves are spacious with views over the pool or down to the sea and are cleaned on a daily basis. However, we did have a rather large cockroach pay us a visit last year twice in one week and Reception could have been a bit more helpful - I was, I admit, very hysterical at the time which probably didn’t help and it was sorted in the end - this was the very first time in all our visits that we had a problem with an insect and hopefully it will be the last. Could not recommend these apartments highly enough - roll on June!

" Booked a last minute holiday to... "

Booked a last minute holiday to Lanzarote and could only get allocation on arrival, that I was a little weary about.

I'd already been to Lanzarote twice before.

Me and my partner absolutely love it. We stayed in puerto del Carmen the first time and Matagorda back there in sept 2006 at the Sol Lanzarote, which was lovely and we were hoping we got there again but we ended up staying at Costa Sal bungalows.

I shouldn’t have worried, as these were absolutely the best place I've ever stayed in Lanzarote.

My mother and father came with us and to our surprise, we got 2 gorgeous bungalows next door to eachother, in a quiet location of the Costa Sal grounds.

Just right of the bottom pool, we had the pool to ourselves most days.

There was a gate right beside us with a code to get in and out which made us feel safe.

Sol Lanzarote reception was easier for us to use to phone a taxi to puerto Del Carmen, which cost just £4 Euro to get to.

Costa Sal was so big with a games room, supermarket, 2 pools, bar and restaurant and a children’s playground.

Our own reception was a five minute walk away but we didn’t mind, as out the gate lead you to all the bars and restaurants, which were like a 3 minute walk away.

I wouldn’t definitely recommend the bungalows, as they are so big with two large bedrooms, kitchen and dining area and living area and its own little porch and terrace area.

The grounds are well kept and the pools are clean. The restaurant food is lovely and they have happy hour everyday for 3 hours.

The staff are extremely helpful. I would recommend this hotel to families and couples it truly is worth the money, so much so we're heading back in April 2007!

" My partner (Clodagh) and I spent a... "

My partner (Clodagh) and I spent a wonderful week at Costa Sal Apartments, from 16th/23rd Nov '06.

It was my first time in Lanzarote, although she had been there before, and I must say it exceeded all my expectations, so much so that we are going back to Costa Sal from 21st April to 5th May next.

The apartments were spotless, friendly staff. Reception, Restaurant, and Bar, especially Andreas, and Brigid, who hails from County Meath in Ireland.

The close proximity to Puerto Del Carmen, and also the Commercial Centre in Matagorda was just wonderful.

We dined a lot also in the Apartments restaurant and Snack bar which was wonderful value for money, excellent staff and service was good.

Our only hope in April is that we get an apartment with balcony facing the sun all day, last time we were in the 800's and we only had the sun for part of the day.

Plus for two 65 year olds, it was a bit of a walk to the Reception/ bar/restaurant area at night or during the day.

Looking forward to returning in April, thanks to all for a great week in Nov last. Padraig and Clodagh. (Armagh and Newry, Ireland)
