Hi all, just back from Costa Sal and would really have to think about it next time though.
The bungalow was spacious with a nice little front garden. However the cleaning service was nonexistent. I had to complain twice about the fact that our floor had not been swept (I even asked for a brush but was turned down), beds were not made once, linen not changed for the week either, towels recycled from the floor and only changed once.
Other than that we enjoyed ourselves Rancho Texas is a must, Reps will push for the Tues evening however with small kids it is better to go during the day, opens at 9.30 taxi only €4.
Parrot show a must. Bus service is also handy if you are going further afield one every 20mins and cheap. Unlimited food choice only avoid Tex-Mex as they charge you for everything (including bread rolls before your starters, although food is good).
If you get a taxi to the airport try to agree a price beforehand as it can be between €6 and €11 depending on the driver.
Will return to resort next year, although not sure if we will pay a premium again for a shoddy cleaning service.

We first went to the Costa Sal apartments in 1992 and have just booked another holiday there for June of this year - this will be our 7th visit in all, having been there every year for the past 3 years, our last visit being April 2006.
We just love it!! It has to be one of the most relaxing places I’ve ever visited - you just feel like you’re coming home once you arrive into Reception. The facilities are wonderful with plenty to do on site if you’re feeling energetic or, if you’re not, just laze by the beautiful azure blue pools.
The restaurant/bar has lovely food and very friendly staff and there is also a well stocked supermarket if you are going self-catering. The apartments themselves are spacious with views over the pool or down to the sea and are cleaned on a daily basis. However, we did have a rather large cockroach pay us a visit last year twice in one week and Reception could have been a bit more helpful - I was, I admit, very hysterical at the time which probably didn’t help and it was sorted in the end - this was the very first time in all our visits that we had a problem with an insect and hopefully it will be the last. Could not recommend these apartments highly enough - roll on June!

Booked a last minute holiday to Lanzarote and could only get allocation on arrival, that I was a little weary about.
I'd already been to Lanzarote twice before.
Me and my partner absolutely love it. We stayed in puerto del Carmen the first time and Matagorda back there in sept 2006 at the Sol Lanzarote, which was lovely and we were hoping we got there again but we ended up staying at Costa Sal bungalows.
I shouldn’t have worried, as these were absolutely the best place I've ever stayed in Lanzarote.
My mother and father came with us and to our surprise, we got 2 gorgeous bungalows next door to eachother, in a quiet location of the Costa Sal grounds.
Just right of the bottom pool, we had the pool to ourselves most days.
There was a gate right beside us with a code to get in and out which made us feel safe.
Sol Lanzarote reception was easier for us to use to phone a taxi to puerto Del Carmen, which cost just £4 Euro to get to.
Costa Sal was so big with a games room, supermarket, 2 pools, bar and restaurant and a children’s playground.
Our own reception was a five minute walk away but we didn’t mind, as out the gate lead you to all the bars and restaurants, which were like a 3 minute walk away.
I wouldn’t definitely recommend the bungalows, as they are so big with two large bedrooms, kitchen and dining area and living area and its own little porch and terrace area.
The grounds are well kept and the pools are clean. The restaurant food is lovely and they have happy hour everyday for 3 hours.
The staff are extremely helpful. I would recommend this hotel to families and couples it truly is worth the money, so much so we're heading back in April 2007!

My partner (Clodagh) and I spent a wonderful week at Costa Sal Apartments, from 16th/23rd Nov '06.
It was my first time in Lanzarote, although she had been there before, and I must say it exceeded all my expectations, so much so that we are going back to Costa Sal from 21st April to 5th May next.
The apartments were spotless, friendly staff. Reception, Restaurant, and Bar, especially Andreas, and Brigid, who hails from County Meath in Ireland.
The close proximity to Puerto Del Carmen, and also the Commercial Centre in Matagorda was just wonderful.
We dined a lot also in the Apartments restaurant and Snack bar which was wonderful value for money, excellent staff and service was good.
Our only hope in April is that we get an apartment with balcony facing the sun all day, last time we were in the 800's and we only had the sun for part of the day.
Plus for two 65 year olds, it was a bit of a walk to the Reception/ bar/restaurant area at night or during the day.
Looking forward to returning in April, thanks to all for a great week in Nov last. Padraig and Clodagh. (Armagh and Newry, Ireland)

This was my first trip to Lanzarote. Absolutely loved the place. Will be going back there every year from now on.
The Staff at the Costa Sal apartments really made us feel welcome and were very helpful. The island itself is gorgeous and the local people are wonderful.
The apartment complex itself is clean, quiet and very child friendly. If I could go back and change anything about this holiday I would change nothing.
I would highly recommend anyone to go. Would also highly recommend Texas Rancho this was a really good night out for all the family.
I'm unable to recommend the south tour excursions which we booked through the Costa Sal apartments reception and was hosted by Luton tours, as I found it to be very rushed with the majority of your time being spent on board the coach.
Also the brochure is highly exaggerated, most of what is listed comes at an added price once you arrive at your destinations, such as the wine tasting being 1 Euro for every taste.
The camel ride being 5 euros plus 5 euros for the photo that they take of you on the camel and the 3 course meal isn’t really what you would expect.
We had a small bowl of broth for 1st course, a bread crumbed pork escalope 2 boiled potatoes and a slice of tomato for 2nd course and a banana for 3rd course. Really wasn’t worth the 40 euros per person.
Be very careful when booking excursions, they are not as they seem. If you really want to go to the places listed in the south tour - shop around.
There are other tour operators on the island that do it far cheaper.

I have a time share in Costa Sal and use it one week in March every year. I have found the staff in Costa Sal very professional.
The complex is very clean, it is convenient to shops, commercial centre with bars restaurants etc. The apartments are literally less than 5 minute walk to the beach.
The two pools at the complex are clean and inviting and never overcrowded, so you can have a leisurely swim at any time.
Well done Costa Sal, you get my vote anytime.

We stayed in the Costa Sal in May of this year. After an immediate upset with a mix up with the apartments (originally booked a bungalow but were only getting an apartment) this was sorted out very quickly and professionally, we found this resort lovely. 11 of us traveled altogether, 3 separate families! It was fairly quiet but very relaxing and enjoyable. The reception staff were very friendly and the weekly BBQ is well worth the 10euro!
We had 2 small kids with us, 3 year olds and found that the playground catered more for the older child. However, the shopping centre, beach, bars and restaurants are all very close by so we had plenty to keep us occupied. The main resort in Puerto Del Carmen is only a short and cheap taxi ride away if we wanted a livelier night out. I would recommend the Texas ranch for a day out with the kids!
We have already booked the Costa Sal for our holiday next year. Would highly recommend it for families.

These apartments were by far some of the best looking in the resort and the facilities were excellent. The two swimming pools were always clean and look very inviting.
My family and I and the family we travelled with, were very pleased with our apartments and both said how well equipped they were. There’s plenty to do even without leaving the Costa Sal grounds.
There were always children playing in the playground and the tennis courts were always available to use. The staff at the Costa Sal very accommodating and helpful, and we always felt safe as the gates the get into the complex had a code.
We were very pleased with the view off our balcony as we could see right on to the beach.
There were lots of trips out every day or night to various destinations and the bus links were just across the road, we often travelled to Puerto Del Carmen, the main town in Lanzarote, to have a meal and then go onto the many bars along the beach.
The best night out was Rancho Texas which we booked through the reception. The only down point to the holiday was it was a bit of a struggle to get sun beds in the morning as there were not enough of them.
But apart from that it was a very enjoyable holiday and the weather out there is great!

We have just returned from the Costa Sal, self catering accommodation in Matagorda. We stayed in a bungalow. Everything was lovely except the bed linen, blankets and towels smelt of mould.
We explained to our Thomas Cook Rep, they changed the towels but they still smelt. We explained to reception but when the bed linen was changed it still smelt. Other guests said their towels and sheets smelt bad too. Our bungalow had a strange smell too. Both my children, 7 and 3 complained of the smell.
We tried not to let it spoil our holiday, but we didn't really look forward to bed time! For a £1900 week's holiday this is not what I would expect. Shame, because everything else was nice.

Stayed in Costa Sal Apartments in March of this year. Myself and my husband and two children booked a two bedroom bungalow. We found them great and brilliant for kids aa there is a walled area with a gate in front of the bungalow which meant we could have the door open all the time without fear of the kids wandering off. Pools are great and at the time we were it meant there was no shortage of sun beds.
Everywhere is wheelchair and buggy friendly which is a big plus. Matagorda is a lovely peaceful resort and the bungalows really give you a sense of privacy as many of them are not over looked. We rented a car for three days but found it too much of a chore to leave the complex. I imagine at full capacity it is a very busy resort but it is close to the beach which has a promenade all the way to the start of Puerto Del Carmen.
While we were there a advert in reception stated that they were offering half board at €58 per person for one week. Maybe their website would have more details. I intend to check it out as we would definitely go back.

I stayed at Costa Sal Apartments with my Husband Michael in September 2004. We had a really great time. Apartments are lovely and modern and very spacious. Very clean and linen and towels changed regularly.
Two beautifully swimming pools. Staff are very friendly.5 mins walk to the local commercial centre with a good selection of restaurants and bars. Beach in Matagorda is really beautiful and not as busy as the beach in Puerto Del Carmen. Advantage of the staying in Costa Sal is that bus stop outside Apartments. Buses every 15 mins into Puerto Del Carmen. You have the best of both worlds staying in the Costa Sal as it is so relaxing and yet you are only 10 mins away to Puerto Del Carmen if you want more activity.
I would highly recommend the Costa Sal but really only for Couples not for families as no kiddies club - if you are family better going to Sol Lanzarote but for couples it is an excellent accommodation in a very relaxing atmosphere.

Just back from a very enjoyable week at the Costa Sal in Matagorda.
The Bungalows are very spacious and clean set around a small but nice pool.
Our only gripe is that while the cleaners come every day and washed the floors and generally tidy up, they never changed the bed linen and only once changed the towels.
All in all we had a very pleasant holiday and loved Matagorda. We found it very clean and safe for our two teenage children. Would definitely go back.
