Mauain Hotel

We found this to be a gem of a hotel!
First and foremost reason is location. I think this was the first hotel built in the area, and chose to be bang in the middle of a beautiful beach. And there are no buildings in the bay higher than the coconut trees!
Beach is good for snorkelling, body-boarding and surfing, sometimes all at same time in different parts of the bay.
The hotel looks traditional Hawaiian style inside and out, it feels very ethnic especially compared to many of the hotels/condos along this coast.
Rooms have kitchens, and a lovely fresh fruit and cinnamon toast breakfast is served in the communal room daily.
We found, to our surprise there was an hourly bus service, outside the gate, to Lahaina, and a general store next door, and 2 or 3 restaurants nearby. So a car is not a necessity!
Finally all the staff were very helpful and kept the rooms and gardens looking fantastic.
We loved the place and would not want to stay anywhere else on Maui.
