The hotel was really lovely. The room we stayed in was just behind the pool bar. The room was cleaned everyday, which was quite annoying every morning. Was nice to have fresh towels everyday. I stayed 14 nights with my partner and our 1year old daughter. Our sheets were... more

This hotel was very good value for money. For a 3 star hotel, the stardards were very good. Our room was basic but most 4 star hotels are too. It was cleaned daily. The food was plentyful with lots to choose from even for the children and the quality was very good too. (If... more

lovely hotel
Was worried about going here after the reports but we were self catering and it was very clean and had a full cooker with rings and oven which is a treat. The swimming pools were fantastic the main one has an island in the middle with a corridor underneath which you can swim through.I heard from my next door neighbours that the food if you are half board is not very nice.Outside the hotel there are 2 bars which sell a pint of lager for 1euro which was brilliant.Eating out was not too expensive and nearby there r nice cafes and restaurants. I must finish off by telling you that i had friends staying in the sirocco apartments and they thought el trebol was much cleaner and nicer, also had friends staying in los zocos, el trebol beats them too.I WOULD DEFINATELY GO BACK
GOING DOWN HILL FAST
Have stayed here many times before, but the place has gone down hill. Manager not available, staff lie, at first manager away for 1 month, then will contact us next day, (never did) when in his office too busy to see us, only when I said I was moving out was anything done. Still never got to see the manager in a 4 weeks stay, I asked each day. Confirmation faxes not replied to, then room not available or arrival, Cooker faulty kept blowing cct breakers, was eventually changed, Fridge faulty, repaired several times, then replaced, still did not work. TV not working for 3 out of 4 weeks, Remote had to be changed, given one stuck together with card and tape, had to hold battery in to use it, No security, doors do not open easily, and not locked easily, if you did manage to lock them, cleaner then left them open, telephone not working, no hot water, WC faulty, need I go on?? Have to rent basic items such a kettle (at 22 euros, went and bought a new one in town for 14 euros) SHAME I USED TO LOVE THE PLACE, BUT IF THE MANAGER DOES NOT CARE, WHY SHOULD THE STAFF, FELT SORRY FOR THEM
absolutly fab darling
What can i say, it was brilliant its location is good, near to everything its clean and well maintained. I have been to lanzarote before, and the other hotels that i have stayed in cost an awful lot more, but were not a patch on el Trebol. when we first spotted it we thought oh no, but dont be fooled by the exterior. This time i went with my daughter who was 21, she really enjoyed it, and she's a fussy little madam, the rooms are clean and the maid service is excelent, and there is plenty to do nearby, all i can say is if your doubtful just go for it. I'm going back again, with my husband this time carnt wait well worth its 4 stars
Better than the one we moved from...
My girlfriend and I (Aged 28 & 30) stayed at El Trebol for a week in April/May 2005. We moved to El Trebol having spent one night at the Sol Apartments over the road - as reviewed elsehwere on Trip Advisor, El Trebol could only impress after Sol! On our arrival in Lanzarote, the stop before we were dropped off by the coach at Sol Apartments was El Trebol, and we commented to each other that we were glad we weren't staying there, as from the outside it does not look good! The hotel front is basically an arcade of shops and restuarants, and is not particularly appealing. However when we went in to the hotel the day after with the Thomas Cook rep, were pleasantly surprised. The reception area is a little old looking, but still reasonable. The staff were helpful and we were offered a choice of rooms - we chose the one we had looked at 30 mins before with the rep. As noted elsewhere, there are no lifts, but this was not really a problem. Our apartment was on the second floor. The apartment was nice; very clean, typical 'holiday' bathroom, complete with dodgy shower (water was hot enough though), and a good sized balcony overlooking the pool area, which is well-kept and quite attractive. The pool was absolutely freezing, which was a little disappointing, and we only ventured into it twice. We had a game of tennis at the hotel, which was fine apart from the wind, and the pool table in reception was a good distraction whilst waiting for the coach to take us to the airport. We ate breakfast at the hotel twice. This was fine but not spectacular, with a mixture of hot and cold food, dodgy tea, and juices, but nice decaff coffee! The pool bar food was also ok, although we only ate there once. At night we ate out of the hotel. The majority of restaurants in the immediate vicinty didn't look great, although this is not helped by the 'arcade' they are housed in... The sights and sounds of 'Legends' and 'Cactus Jacks' are not the best to eat near to. We found an excellent restaurant elsewhere in Costa Teguise - Le Gourmet - which does a Tapas and an Italian menu, both excellent, and also had some good wines. We also found a good 'Tex-Mex' restaurant just off the seafront, sorry the name escapes me. So overall, El Trebol was a real improvement on our first hotel, and offers a good 3 star apart/hotel. We enjoyed a relaxing week there, although we would not return to Lanzarote. The hotel made us realise that first impressions are not always right!
Fabulous
Stayed here July 2004 - 2 adults and one child (age 12) This is an excellent apart/hotel. We stayed in a self catering apartment but went half board. The difference in price between self catering and half board was so small that we opted for hald board, and still ate out some nights for a change. We had a lovely apartment on the end of the block overlooking the pool, this apartment was bigger than most so we were really lucky. Breakfast at the hotel is the same every morning and really wasn't very good. Evening meals were more varied but we did eat out a few times on our second week, but as I say its worth going half board as the price is not much more than self catering. Lovely pool area - films every night for the kids - nice bar outside where the adults can have a few hours whils the kids watch the movie. Really nice resort - perfect for families.
Not a hotel to visit
We must have been at another hotel to the review of August 2004. First impressions were not good - we waited an hour to book in, having to fill in forms individually when we reached the desk insteading of handing them out to be filled in while we were waiting. First impression of apartment was not good, looked as though it needed a makeover. The water was just warm enough to get under inn the showere except for one day when it was virtually lukewarm. Engineer agreed and said there were problems. Receptionist had told us it was 44 degrees and, of course, the hotel was full as if this should be a good reason. The good in the restaurant was only lukewarm and was not at all appetising and this was a general consensus of opinion among many guests who we and other spoke to. Maybe it was the time of year, February 2005, but this should be no reason for these things. On top of this the weather was not particularly good - rain and cold winds a lot of time. Best things was the Carnival on the Saturday. Certainly not recommended!!
last years holiday
my sister and i had already booked our holiday at the el trebol,so we looked at the reviews for some idea as to what to expect on arrival. After reading comments,we set off on holiday with some trepidation.however, what a pleasant surprise, when we got there.we could not fault anything.we thought everthing was spot on,and would like to thank everyone for making it a most enjoable holiday. in fact, something we have not done before, after going on holiday together for twenty three years,we have already booked,to go back again in september this year thanks to all concerned from mrs e foster and mrs h mcconnell
Best New Year ever!!
Our party of 17 arrived on 27th December 2004. When we arrived we were really impressed with the hotel. The rooms were large and spacious with plenty of cupboard space. The gala meal we had on New Years Eve was beyond belief with champagne flowing freely. During our two weeks the menu was only repeated once. The only drawback was there were two vegetarians in our party and they were not catered for. The pools were lovely and clean but much too cold to go in. The weather picked up on our third day and from then on it was brilliant. Very cold at night though so make sure you take something warm to wear. I would definately recommend this hotel and will certainly be going back there.
OK
We arrived on the 2nd December the taxi driver was not sure, but thanks to this site I knew that no was no sign to show that this hotel was behind an arcade, we were delighted that no locust seemed to be lurking after checking in we had to take our own cases up two flights of stairs, (no lifts). The apartment was very clean and a good standard, a kitchen was hidden behind folded doors. a TV in the sitting room was pay as you view, only sky news and sport plus foxs kids programe in English. We were staying half board and the food was fine, no complaints, plenty to eat. The weather was against us, and it rained most days, one lucust we named Bert, lived outside our apartment, but no problem. We did take the bus to Port de Carmen, for shopping and an hour of sun. We also took the 8 euro trip to the market a further 3 euros got us into a tent where we were entertained by some very strange wresling, young men in football strip, with trouser legs rolled up, it is different. The hotel, had a piano bar without a piano, it was the main entertainment room, some nights a film was shown at 7pm other nights football matches. a kids disco around 9pm an act at 9.30. these were good and we enjoyed most of them. Oweing to the weather outside activities did not happen much, but we did take part one day, in darts, pool and riffle shooting, all good fun. All in all a good week, the hotel is 3 star so no little extras but all happy.
Best holiday in 5 years
We arrived at the El Trebol on November 4th 2004. There was no sign of an hotel anywhere. We followed the Thomas Cook Rep and walked in to the most marvellous marbled reception area. The apartments were very well equiped with a full size cooker and nice comfy beds. The balcony was enormous and had a wonderful view of the well kept gardens and pool. The apartment was extremely clean and was kept that way throughout our 2 week stay. Staff were very good and did all they could to make you feel welcome. The restaurant was nice and big and although the food was a little repetative there was plenty of choice. The bar was a comfortable place to relax in with a film most nights and some good live entertainment. Will definatly be going back next year. A must do for anyone wanting to unwind and relax. The only thing that ruined our holiday was that Thomas Cook do not beleive in looking after their guests very well and we were left stranded at the hotel on our return date and had to pay for a taxi to the airport which the hotel arranged for us
