Jun 2008, Miss SJ Petrie

We have just returned from a week at the El Trebol, and we have had a great time. I was very dubious after reading some very bad reviews. The hotel have obviously paid attention to the reviews and resolved any issues. The food was good with an ok selection of buffet style and cooked to order menu too. Yes as the reviews said the pool was very cold but it ws kept clean and tidy throughout the day. Some of the bad reviews were complaining about "astro turf" round the pool, which was great as it was less likely for the kids to slip when they were playing. There were also complaints that there were only plastic drinks cups around the pool , well surely if this eliminates the risk of smashed glasses hurting the kids its a good thing??? Its not the end of the world. The hotel is clean and tidy, the staff were smiley and friendly. I would not hesitate to book again and return to the El Trebol. My only warning is to take care with the "breeze" as it is very easy to get burnt as the breeze cools you down.
To all the complainers out there,
If you want 5 star luxury you need to spend a bit more money.

Jun 2008, Miss J Brown

I think that for the money that we paid (£285) our holiday was very good. We went as half board but when we got there we decided that the food was by far good enough to upgrade to all inclusive. We went to the front desk and upgraded for just 9 euros a day, which we thought was a bargain! We did find that the resort was very quiet however the apartments themselves were kept clean everyday. The cleaner was very friendly, despite not speaking a word of English! We had half of the holiday that was very quiet and then the second half became a lot louder, due to half term. This meant we had to start getting towels on sunbeds etc...Which wasn't a massive problem, but did mean our quiet holiday was gone. Some lovely families though, not noisey or irritating.
Although food was good, there was little choice and you did have to watch what you were eating. Food at the pool bar was sometimes better than the dinners, but you get what you pay for! Breakfasts were always superb. Nothing to complain about there! There was cooked food, croissants, ham, cheese, cereal, cakes and everythin you could want for breakfast!
Overall, very suprised at how good it was for the money but the resort itself is very quiet so not overly suitable for young people looking for a clubbing and drinking holiday!

Have just returned from 4 nights all...

Jun 2008, Miss S Layton

Have just returned from 4 nights all inclusive at the El Trebol apartments. For a last minute holiday (we booked on the internet a week before), it was excellent.
*Rooms - basic but clean and were cleaned every day we were there with towels changed twice and linen once.
*Staff - helpful and pleasant despite the hard time that they got from some guests who took advantage of the all inclusive option!
*Food - fresh, tasty and grilled meat cooked in front of you with a different theme each night; lots of choice although not for vegetarians although the veggie choice did get better throughout the time we were there. Pool bar open most of the day with typical snacks such as hot dog, burgers, chips each day and also ice cream every day.
*Pool area - clean and plenty of sunbeds to go round although not very comfortable so I would advise you buy a cheap lilo to put on top if you're there for a longer holiday. Pool was cold although quite refreshing after a day in the sun!
*Entertainment team - worked very hard and were good although the shows were not to everyone's taste. We went to Legends over the road one night as live music (tribute acts) on most nights and Leroy was brilliant as Drifters act.
Costa Teguise is not a big resort but it has everything you need - beach, bars, restaurants, plenty of rent a car outlets which were very cheap, shops, etc. If you go on the trip to Playa Blanca market and marina, be warned that the market is not that big and mostly full of tourist tat rather than locally produced goods, so we went for a walk along the front and sat in a cafe to pass away the time. I think Teguise market on a Sunday is more traditional and a lot larger although do haggle - there are plenty of cheap trips for 10 euros for return trip there. El Golfo is pretty although not much more than a large green puddle but plenty of photo opportunities as it is a old volcanic crater.
Overall, El Trebol was great and we had an excellent break.

May 2008, Mrs J A Green

my husband booked this holiday as a suprise for me and it wasnt the cheapest holiday ever.So you can imagine his disappointment when faced with a holiday destination that was nothing at all as he had imagined or what he thought he had booked. You may ask yourself why didnt he check the small print.Well he did but all isnt what it seams in these glossy mags and can be polished up to look and sound a lot better than it is.
In fact we were very disappionted at the quality of our accommodation. The food was,at best, just about edable! We ended up,on an all inclusive holiday eating out of the compex in local bars and restaurants. This added an extra cost to our holiday.
The poolside although on the surfice looked clean was very slippery in places the sunbeds were in need of a good clean. On the whole this is a very tired hotel and complex and i would have to raise very definate health and safety issues with this hotel. On a good note the staff were helpful and did there best.Allthough most nights there was only a spanish speaking security guard on duty in reception spoke no english at all so i dont no what would happen in an emegency.
The hotel had recently had a piant job but that is about as far as it went to tidy the place up, they had allso had a new foyer built but the rest off the complex was in need of a compleat refurb.
All in all our first stay on Lanzarote as an island holiday resort was very good i had a great time exploring the island, but i would next time find a better place to stay.El Trebol hotel left me feeling light in the pocket and heavy at heart.x

I took my wife and daughter on...

May 2008, Mr P J Roscoe

I took my wife and daughter on holiday to this complex on a last minute booking,
Wonderfully courteous were the staff and helpful too,
We decided to try out the restaurant within the complex for breakfast one morning and it was great, no burnt offerings, no flies and a wide selection of food to choose from and people around to assist if neccesary,
The appartment was spot on and the maid was present often enough even arriving on one occasion whilst I was still in bed but I had no problem as it shows that they are about,
To those who hammer places like this firstly take a look at the star rating for the complex 2 of them so it far exedes the quality usually associated with one of that rating!
Some of those who give reviews are just totally ignorant and are never happy unless complaining you give your holidaying fellow countrymen and women the image that precedes us all over the world complain, whinge, whine, scowl, back stab!
Stop whining and try to enjoy yourself and don't pack your rubber gloves, furniture polish, bleach or anything else,
A holiday is to be enjoyed try it!

Just returned from a 2 week all...

Apr 2008, Mr J Knowles

Just returned from a 2 week all inclusive holiday (06/04/08 - 21/04/08) we had a party of nine which included children and my Mother. i really cannot understand some people that have moaned, these people wouldn't be happy in a 5 star hotel and just moan for the sake of it! we had three rooms all together over looking the pool and pool bar area quite close to the entertainment area. the rooms where nice and clean and we had fresh towels every day. the pool area's have plenty of space for everyone and where well cared for and clean, the water was a little cold but once you got in after the shock it was very pleasant, my 5 year old played most of the day in the pool and this was generally very nice place to be. The food was fantastic with a wide range of meats, salads, bread, and afters, all fresh and presented very well one of our holiday members is a fussy eater and she gave the food a big thumbs up! the staff were helpful and always around to clear your table of plates ready for the next trip to the buffet. the food during the day in the pool side bar was also nice offering ice cold drinks, ice cream, burgers, hot dogs, chips, pizza, which changed from day to day. the entertainment was great for the little ones with a mini disco every night with shows on most nights for the adults. the entertainment around the pool during the day was also good with "Mark" who offered football, ping pong, mini golf, shooting, darts & water polo competitions with certificates for the winners in the evening. to sum up, a great holiday for all ages in a nice clean enviroment with helpful staff and grat food for all tastes - trust me don't be put off by the moaners!!

Apr 2008, Mrs D Smith

2 adults 2 kids aged 7 and 5 had a fantastic 2 week holiday at the Trebol. On arrival we were asked where we would like our room to be, we asked for a ground floor with large balcony, overlooking the pool but away from the entertainment area (in case it was too noisy for the kids trying to get to sleep) and we were given exactly that! The guy who greeted us and booked us in was lovely and funny and even came to our room to check the safe was working properly as we couldn't get the card to work. Nothing was too much trouble. The staff were all friendly and very nice to the children making a fuss of them all the time, saying how beautiful they were when we went for our meals. The waiters made them roses from serviettes and one of the waitresses gave my 5 year old a present when she had hurt herself one day. My girls were made to feel very special - and happy children = happy parents. The apartment was spacious and spotless. Plenty of hot water. Maid came just about every day to make beds, clean and sweep etc. She was great and folded up any clothes which had been left out, picked up my little girls dolls, toys, books, crayons etc and even folded their nighties on their pillows and put their teds into bed for them! We had our bedding changed at least 4 or 5 times and fresh towels most days. One day I rang reception for some more towels as ours had all been wet by the girls at bathtime and they were there straight away. Tip- if you are AI don't bother hiring the kettle (which was the only thing I thought was a bit tight about the place) unless u are mad on ur cuppa. We were close to the pool bar so we just got hot drinks from there if we fancied one and took them back to our room. Pool area very large, loads of sunbeds (yes water freezing but you get used to it once you've been swimming for a few mins). Food a bit samey but really nice. Some people think all inclusive buffet style means pile a bit of everything on the plate - then you end up eating the same thing day in day out and you might get fed up. So just choose one main dish per meal (like you prob would at home) and there is a bit more variety. (yes there are chips available every day but you don't have to eat them everyday!) We usually go out elsewhere for a couple of meals during an all inc holiday just for a change, but we didn't need to do that here in 14 days! Evening entertainment pretty good. We went in most nights for the kids bit from 8pm (which they loved), stayed for the show and some all inclusive drinks (No problem with staff again, in fact they remember what you are drinking and were usually getting my gin and fanta lemon ready for me as I walked in-Hic!). Closes about 11 ish I think but if you want more walk just around the corner to either Legends for a tribute band (bouncy castle for the kids) or Cactus Jacks for the drag show, singers, or just a good old kareoke, party games etc, with the fab DJ. A really good night in there! Nice children friendly beach (8e for 2 beds and a parasol) 10 min stroll away, where you will find a few shops, restaurants etc. Just look for the giant bungees. Costa Teguise resort is very quiet and definately not for pub crawl type nights (there aren't enough pubs to crawl around) but if you are up for a laf and join in then you will have a great time anyway. Don't think we'd go back to Costa Teguise as not much night time entertainment and I think we've done it all now, but if all our future holiday accommodation is as nice as the Trebol, I would be satisfied. Can't comment on reps as we did not have one, but you don't really need one - if you have any probs or want to know anything at all, just ask the staff at the Trebol. If you are nice and polite to them, they'll look after you. Have a good one!

me and my children have just returned...

Apr 2008, Mrs D Rawlings

me and my children have just returned from a weeks holiday in lanzarote at the el trebol hotel, i have one word to discribe it, AWFUL!
first impressions . . . . . when we first arrived we were pleased, the reception area seemed clean and modern and newly built, however we was then greeted by the worlds most miserable man who literally threw a pen and piece of paper at us and said "passport". we filled in our details and were given the keys and with no directions set off to find our rooms.
the rooms .. . . . . . very clean and spacious with a nice pool view however we had to ask after the fourth day for our rooms to be cleaned, for clean towels and for our bed linen to be changed.
the food . . . . well if you enjoy your food to be raw and still alive on your plate and enjoy finding dead crabs inside your mussels then the foods perfect. The chips were the only things which kept us going as these were on everyday. they had nothing to go with anything else, we had sprouts, carrots and mixed veg with our breakfast then no veg of an evening. alhough we was all inclusive we still ate out four times during the week asthe food was not edible.
the entertainer/entertainment... ... .. the entertainer was dreadful, one man with no tact with children, rude and pissed everynight. He would put on a song then go behind the bar and help himself to beer and spirits, all entertainment would finish at 10pm but you couldnt leave the hotel and not return till early hours as you were given a curfew they would bolt the old reception doors, leaving you to find a way in to the hotel on your own.
the polls were lovly but not heated, not very good for younger children and babies. pool bar was nice, all staff were rude and miserable and all spoke very little englsh.
overall where the hotel was situatd was very good, not a far walk from the beach, shops and bars (with a good atmosphere). But i would not reccomend this hotel to anyone it needs a good makeover and desent chefs to be employed, the staff need to be taught manners and the alcohol needs to be less watered down.
we had a great holiday as we had been to lanzarote many times before so knew where the best places to go of an evening were, if its your first time in lanzarote dont stay at the el trebol it will put you off lanzarote for life.

We had a lovely week in the hotel El Trebol. Our apartment was quite big wth a small but neat kitchen a large living room seperate double bedroom and a nice bathroom with shower . The large balcony ran the length of both the bed room and the living room ,with lovely views of one of the swimming pools from both rooms. We stayed half board but you can stay all inclusive or self catering. The food was plentiful with lots of choice,we honestly had no complaints about the food or the hotel.Would definately stay there again.

Mar 2008, Miss C Winning

My partner and I have just got back from the el trebol and had a fantastic time.
I was a little nervous before going because of some of the reviews i read but they were so unjustified, we loved it and are even booking up again for October.
We went self catering so i cannot comment on the food in the restaurant, however we did hear the odd moan about it but you can never suit everyones taste so thats to be expected.
I would recommend self catering though, when we arrived we asked how much it would be to upgrade and for b&b it was 6 euros pppd but after looking around we found that you can get a full english breakfast from the irish bar at the back of the hotel for 2 euros and it was very nice so wasn't worth upgrading at all.
There are so many happy hours in all the bars that you don't really miss the all inclusive alcohol either and the restaurants in the square are brilliant especially the grills.
I would also recommend the short south tour, visiting the volcanoes and you must do the camel ride for an extra 5 euros up the side of the fire mountains. Don't book through your rep as it costs 20 euros extra, book with last minute excursions there are booklets in reception for them and its 40 euros for the full day and 30 for the short day.

Mar 2008, Mr I McDonald

The rooms were good with a balcony over looking the pool. A little old fashion but good.Cleaned every day and new towels every other day. The pools were cold but with 2 play pools for children 1 with slides in it the cold did not matter. The 2 bigger pools were great to swim in. I went self catering and found that the kitchen had everything I needed and if not you could hire it. This is a 3star hotel that charges 3 star prices if you want 5 star luxury then you need to pay 5 star prices. Those on half board were mixed on the food some said it was good others bad but I neve ate in the Hotel. The only down side was that all drinks were served in plastic glasses.
