The welcome my family and I received at this complex was fantastic.
Although we went in December we did not go for the Christmas Holidays and it was very much 'off peak'. Despite this the complex put on excellent entertainment i.e. movies for kids, disco's Karaoke, shows, live music etc.
The food was wonderful - I am a vegetarian and usually dread holiday food - but I must say I was very impressed that along with a multitude of choice for your average meat eater there was also lots of options for me - all totally delicious.
I would go back here in a snap!
The apartments are basic and I don’t know if I would have coped cooking for a hoard of hungry kids in the mini kitchen available if I had gone self catering but it was great to be able to make coffee and snacks in between meals which is not always possible in a basic hotel room. Admittedly no kettle but we managed perfectly well with a saucepan.
To sum up, if you don’t expect the Ritz and accept the place for what it is - basic accommodation to crash/shower/have a snack/coffee etc after great days out and really want great customer service and be able to eat the food without being ill (someone else in my party booked in at a 5 star hotel down road and was ill every time they ate the food - paid for all inclusive and had to pay again at local restaurant!) then this is the place for you.
Great pool area too - very clean and catches the sun all day..
nice for when the staff take your kids off to the kids club and entertain them at no extra cost!

Room ok, but "tired". Hot water was only lukewarm for first 4 days, bath had seen better days! Sheets not changed once during the week we were there. Although H/B had all s/c equipment but no kettle, you have to hire one or take your own like we did. Food was uninspiring.
You can't do much for breakfast but I don’t think they know how to fry an egg, only had boiled, scrambled or omelette + the bacon etc. Dinner - well - I don't think they knew what vegetables were - very limited: carrots once and brocolli on another and that was it .Chips every day, no boiled or roast. Very limited on deserts.
Reception staff OK, miserable dining room staff. Shopping & beach at bottom of road with good eateries. Cash m/c out side hotel. Got taxi from airport - 15 euros. Buses to Puerto del Carmen/Arrecife from Lanzarote Gardens every 20mins & Teguise market on Sunday.

When we first got their it looked lovely, their was an arcade right outside, a shopping market, and a few restaurants. We went inside we were dealt with straight away and got sent to our rooms, (even though we took the long way round), the room looked basic when we went in, the bedroom looked nice, then we went into the sitting room to have a look at the pull out bed, this had marks and rips all over and looked dirty, then when we looked under the bed which was so dusty, I haven't seen dust like it, and the amount of things we found like bobbles etc. So we told the rep and the cleaner was sent up straight away and it was dealt with. When we got back into the room we had trouble opening the door, as it was a slidy one which we had to struggle to open but eventually did. The room was dusty even after the cleaner came up.
The kitchen was basic but accompanied our needs, but every time we turned two things on they fused and turned everything off. The only other bad thing I have to say about the room was that we had real trouble trying to lock it and a few times we just had to leave it because we couldn't get it shut. The hotel itself was lovely and had something for everyone including tennis and a new kiddies slide and pool, the pool could have done with a little bit more cleaning but that's all, it also had a pool bar, it had everything in the resort that you needed especially Cactus Jack's where live entertainment is on every night including a Drag show!!! and is just outside with mini golf over the road.

5 years ago visited here had a fab holiday then & this 1 too. Rooms basic but very clean. Food good you can pay 47 euros per appt per week @ pay 63 euros each half board get a cheapie flight & you will get the best holiday for value ever.
No cockroaches here, restaurant buffet meal area stripped down & cleaned after every sitting, kitchen immaculate. Pools not heated but all 3 pools used well 2 kiddies 1 large for biggies, remember its hot so its nice to cool down. Poor kids entertainment this year, 1 Spaniard couldn’t be bothered, too busy with his ponytail. Good turns on @ night for kid & adults.
There are other shops & bars close by but el trebol shuts down @ 11pm, so we can get to sleep bars close by open till 3am so we are all catered for. I am 68 been around a lot, i cannot find better value anywhere.

Just returned from 12 day stay at the El Trebol apartments and we had a lovely holiday. The rooms could do with a little bit of attention as they are quite basic but the gardens/pool areas were lovely and well maintained, the entertainment was good and the staff friendly. The complex was in a handy location for a few bars and restaurants but was still peaceful. We had a lovely break.

Have stayed here many times before, but the place has gone down hill.
Manager not available, staff lie, at first manager away for 1 month, then will contact us next day, (never did) when in his office too busy to see us, only when I said I was moving out was anything done. Still never got to see the manager in a 4 weeks stay, I asked each day.
Confirmation faxes not replied to, then room not available or arrival, Cooker faulty kept blowing cct breakers, was eventually changed, Fridge faulty, repaired several times, then replaced, still did not work. TV not working for 3 out of 4 weeks.
Remote had to be changed, given one stuck together with card and tape, had to hold battery in to use it, No security, doors do not open easily, and not locked easily, if you did manage to lock them, cleaner then left them open, telephone not working, no hot water, WC faulty, need I go on??
Have to rent basic items such a kettle (at 22 euros, went and bought a new one in town for 14 euros)

First I want to say that we all enjoyed our holiday, although I think that was more to do with us as a family than this establishment.
The approach to El Trebol did not bode well. The entrance is concealed amongst a parade of shops, bars and an amusement arcade - all of which could do with a lick of paint. There is no sign outside the hotel, so it’s just as well the tour bus stopped right outside.
Our accommodation was basic, but adequate and clean. The tiling round the bath could do with re-grouting and we had to mend the loo most days, because of an unreliable flushing system.
Our balcony faced the back of a bar and toilet block and did not receive any sunlight at all day.
We travelled with our daughter and her two small children (7 and 4yrs old). There was a children’s playground and nursery, but at this 1st busy time of year (the kids Easter holidays from school) there were no staff to supervise them. The nursery/play room was closed. On a more positive note, Davide (a handsome Antonio Banderas look-a-like) the entertainments manager, did work very hard indeed for 6 days a week, devising min-competions around the pool area for the kids, and in the evening putting on a 'mini-disco' for the youngsters for half an hour before the evenings family- oriented entertainment in the Piano Bar.
The pool was spotlessly clean, but as it is not heated, it was far too cold for swimming - even the kids wouldn’t go in after the first half hour on the first day. Later in the season I’m sure it would have been fine. The grounds in general are well maintained. Having said that, there is no shade of any sort around the pool. No trees to speak of and not one sun umbrella. We did think this was pretty poor and should be addressed by the hotels owners. Many people do not want to lie in the scorching sun for hours on end. One of our party has had skin cancer and must sit in the shade. Consequently we headed for the beach.
Here it was great. Long stretches of clean, sandy beach. Lots of sun beds and sun umbrellas and a welcome breeze to keep the edge off the heat.
What was the food like? Well, what can I say? We lost weight this holiday!
The breakfasts were OK, but the evening meals were repetitive, uninspiring and bland. Meat or fish was dried out and vegetables were overcooked. This place needs a Jamie Oliver treatment! And the staff? One or two of the waitresses were happy and smiling, but most seemed less interested in service and more concerned with setting the tables for the next meal. As for one of the restaurant managers, she was surly and rude to one of our party and another family when they arrived with the children for breakfast, just 1 or 2 minutes late. I’m sure a drink and a bowl of cereal wouldn’t have been too much of a problem for the staff - the food was still out on display.
In our opinion this 3-star rated hotel is not worthy of this rating. It needs to be refurbished and smartened up, and the catering and restaurant service need to raise their game.
Sorry this is so negative folks, but we speak as we find!

Our flight from Belfast International was delayed by approx. 1 hour as the incoming flight had been late and the crew needed a break which I suppose is understandable. The flight when it did take off was 1st class travelling on Spanair. The meal and in flight service was excellent, same if not better on our return flight 10 days later.
We stayed at El Trebol in Costa Teguise and were very pleased with all it had to offer.
The apartments all overlook the swimming pool, which is the 2nd biggest pool in Lanzarote, and was exceedingly well maintained with no problem getting sun loungers.
The Restaurant is one of the best that I have ever experienced on holiday or for that matter at home. The service by the staff was second to none. The food (buffet) was excellent in presentation and variety catering for all tastes and in those 10 days there was very little repetition. You got just as good variety for breakfast as for dinner. It was also very clean and the Chef was out and about quite a lot checking that all was well.
The accommodation itself was also good and the maids who came in each day did an excellent job. There is a door out onto decent sized balcony from both the bedroom and lounge. There is also balcony furniture.
El Trebol has one problem and that is when you get dropped off at the start of your holiday you would think that you were going into a Supermarket that is until you reach the Reception and that is very impressive.
There is entertainment each evening in the ‘Piano Bar’ in the Hotel which is varied.
For anyone ‘sporty’ there is table tennis, pool, tennis courts etc. so there is no need for anyone to be bored.
We went to the beach each day which is about a 5 min walk from Hotel where you can hire sun beds and an umbrella - 3 Euros per person per day - not bad - as you can keep your bed even though you may want to go to the shops or up to the apartment it is still yours when you come back.
The shopping centre is good and if you shop around you can get perfume etc for good prices but beware of photographic shops! I learnt the hard way when I purchased an article. When I got back to UK I found out that I had been grossly overcharged.
The beach, as on all Lanzarote, is very gritty and quite a lot of big stones when you go into swim, the answer we found was a pair of ‘jelly’ shoes that we wore in the sea which saved the soles of your feet getting cut.
We went on 2 trips - one full day one which was called the Grand Tour and covered the whole island, it was excellent with a camel ride thrown in and the other one was a morning visit to Teguise Market. Our Tour guides - Annie on the Grand Tour and Stuart on the one to the market, were excellent and certainly new their ‘stuff’.
I think I have covered most aspects of the holiday and would very happily go back again and also recommend it to anyone who is looking for a quiet, relaxing holiday.

I AGREE with the comment from Mr. R. Morrison. But also in our apartments the bed slats were snapped so they decided to replace with pieces of wet chip wood. I reported this to the direct holidays rep and told her "my dog sleeps on better than this”.
The night guard was never in the hotel but instead was in the pub just around the corner. The wardrobe doors were hanging of there hinges and had a imprint of a fist through it. When I got home I complained to Direct Holidays about these awful conditions and they sent us a voucher worth £80 to compensate. WHAT AN INSULT!!!!!! (THEY SHOULD KNOCK THOSE DREADFULL APARTMENTS DOWN).
Didn’t get no sleep because the club music was constantly playing throughout the night. The apartments aren’t suitable for a family holiday.

We travelled to Lanzarote in November 2002. And had a lovely holiday. We booked el trebol because we wanted something cheap that had plenty of facilities in a good location .
On arrival we thought oh my god this place is going to be awful and were very deflated. Once inside the spacious reception area things started to look up the staff were friendly and the place was clean . Upon entering our room we found it to be somewhat outdated and in need of modernisation but it was clean and had everything we needed. The beds were comfortable and we had a nice view of the pool from our balcony.
Having settled in we thought we would venture outside to see how the island compared to the brochures we all rely on so heavily.
We were not let down the beach was stunning really clean with a lovely light breeze to take the edge off the record temperatures we were experiencing. There were plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas but also lots of space to spread out on the sand with out feeling like we were all sitting on top of one another. The water here at las cucharas beach is very choppy to say the least and not really suitable for children but we had lots of fun jumping around in the water. Not to far a walk along the front we found another smaller beach, which is perfect for families. The sand was narrow and the water was protected by breakwaters, which meant it was very calm and safe for the little ones . I would suggest getting to this beach early as it fills up very quickly.
The resort of Costa Teguise was lovely the people were all friendly it was clean and smart there are lots of bars and cafes etc and with only a few exceptions was relatively calm compared to many other Spanish resorts.
Back the hotel we found that the food although not covered up was tasty and there was plenty of choice. The staff were abit preoccupied but the food is self service so it didn’t really bother us too much that we had a short wait for our drinks . Breakfast was ok although it was not cooked like we have at home there was still a good choice and plenty of croissants to go around. There is always a queue for the fruit juice.

The hotel staff were very friendly and the entire complex was kept very clean although it was fairly standard.
The food was varied and there was always plenty of choice. There were enough sun loungers around the pool and as part of a group of four we were always able to find a decent spot. Although the resort is quieter than other parts of Lanzarote there was plenty to see and do for people of all ages.
Five minutes walk to the beach or town centre with plenty of shops and a variety of bargains. (I got some better deals with the local shops than at the usual markets) The weather for the time of year was excellent.
