When staying in Snowdonia Llanberis provides a good central location to reach all the best parts of North Wales. If planning to have a walk up the mountain the S1 Sherpa bus (from just outside the hotel) will take you to Pen Y pass for the Miners or the Pyg track. Our route... more

Fantastic B&B
from mags36
I have stayed at the erw fair a number of times and I've always had a fantastic time. It is in the best location - close to all the amenities and the rooms are tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean. The breakfasts are first rate and I've always found Martin and Sally very welcoming and chatty. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend erw fair, a number of my friends have stayed there as a result and they've raved about the place afterwards!
The best guest house
from HCCollege
The best guest house we have enjoyed in recent years. Great room, excellent comforts and breakfast. Sally and Martin are wecoming hots and lots of help. July 25th 07 - our second visit - Oliver and Mary.
The rudest guest house owner I have ever met...!
from Thirtysomething-UK
First the good points - this guest house is in a great location in the middle of Llanberis, close to all the shops and pubs. We arrived after a 7 hour drive (thanks to the joy that is the M6 on a Friday afternoon), the reason for our stay being a family wedding the following day. A very abrupt welcome from the owner Martin, who seems to view guests as an inconvenience. There are some bigger rooms, but room 5 is blessed with a tiny ensuite (shower only). The bathroom light only works when the main bedroom light is on, fine during the day, but not so good at night. The next morning breakfast on paper looked great - full English with a choice of eggs. We duly chose how we would like our eggs cooked, and chatted to the other guests, most of whom were also going to the wedding. Our eggs arrived, but without being accompanied by the Full English. When this was politely pointed out to Martin rather than apologise he complained that it was our fault, in front of all the other guests, which stopped all conversation in its tracks. The wedding was lovely (congrats Nick and Pip!) and the next morning we woke up with obligitory sore heads, expecting to have a leisurely morning before checking out at midday. A knock on our door at 9:50 soon shattered that illusion, check out was infact at 10am (this hadn't been explained to us as part of Martin's abrupt check-in style). When I requested a later check out this was flatly refused, my wife was suffering somewhat from the excesses of the night before, so I suggested it was an impossibility that we would be ready in ten minutes. Martin's response was to threaten to set the fire alarms off, needless to say we packed as quickly as we could, settled up and left. If that's how you would like to be treated then fine, but there are many other similarly pricers options on the high street that are probably more deserving of your custom....
bed and breakfast at its best
from poddyWolverhampton
I have stayed in a number of hotels over the years, but rarely a bed and breakfast. I was very pleased with the hospitality shown by the owners, Sally and Martin Ross. The bedrooms were delightfull, deecorated to a high standard with comfortable beds and onsuite faciliies. The breakfast was very good and I was informed the scrambled eggs are made "with a dash of cream" I wish I could make scrambled eggs like that!! I will certainly go again as I was made to feel welcome, I slept well and ate well, and Snowdonia is delightful. The bed and breafast is well situated for all those wanting to have active breaks or expolore the Welsh countryside
Checked out a day early!
from Flightless_bird
Upon arrival we were shown to our room, with not even a hello or explaination of were things were located in the hotel. The room was tiny and two of us could not fit in the bathroom at the same time. The location is good, however there are plently of other places in the same area. We did not recieve a smile, even once, from Martin the owner, clearly he does not enjoy his job! Sally tried her best, but this was not enough to make up her her husbands frosty behaviour. We would not recommend this place. We did not feel welcome and subsequently left a day early!
Customer Service?

Having seen photos and read the reviews about Erw Fair Guesthouse I was looking forward to booking a room and enjoying a comfortable stay. When I phoned the hotel to book I spoke to a lady who said there was a room available. I explained to her that as I was travelling up from London and I would be arriving a bit late, probably between 11pm and midnight. I was promptly told that, that was too late and I wouldn't be able to stay. I had much better luck with the next hotel that I phoned.
Erw Fair - a great experience!
from WinnieB
The Erw Fair guest house has a wonderful location in Llanberis High Street with all local facilities immediately to hand, from convenience stores and eateries to the bus stop that takes would-be walkers to convenient starting points for their ascent of Snowdon. For those who prefer not to climb there is a beautiful walk around Lake Padarn and a local waterfall so that all levels of ability and taste are catered for, and don't forget the Snowdon train! The guest house offers its own off-street parking for those arriving by car. Having welcomed you inside, your hosts Sally and Martin will really look after you. The rooms are comfortable, fresh and clean, with tea/coffee making trays, TV, inviting beds, spotless showers/toilets, and hairdryer and iron are available on request. Breakfasts include fresh/dried fruits and yoghurt to supplement cereals and a traditional selection of cooked breakfast items with quality ingredients cooked to your liking and beautifully presented. A light and airy dining room with fresh white linen and fresh flowers on each table add a touch of luxury that gets your day off to a great start. Each morning the mountain weather report is printed out and is available at breakfast, vital information for many guests. This was our second visit, and it certainly will not be our last. Do yourselves a big favour and follow our example!
staying in Llanberis

Hostess was warm, friendly and helpful. The room was very comfortable and the food was delicious. Everything about it made our 2 night stay memorable. Eager to stay there again.
Extra nice hosts, cold bathroom, cute village
from A TripAdvisor Member
Our room (3) was nice and good value, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom very nice (Though very cold, probably the most negative part of the review - the room was fine though). The view was also very pleasant into the mountains. Breakfast was good too with a nice spread of fruit/cereals with a full English to follow. I don't really know why the B&B is only 2*, it seemed more like 3 to me. If you care about a TV (We didn't) the one in the room was quite small. With regards to our hosts - again great, they were very friendly and welcoming - and when we needed a corkscrew they were more than happy to provide (as well as offering glasses too). The only small letdown was checkout which was a little impersonal and just a case of hand over card/enter pin/goodbye. On checkout I saw into a few of the other rooms which were also very nice, and the family room looked very big and I'd recommend this place to children. The area in general was made of lots of bed and breakfasts however so the competition in the area is a little fierce I suspect.
Warm welcome, freezing room
from HalfIrishRover
Our family of four visited Wales for the first time this December. We were excited about staying in a bed and breakfast in the Snowdonia National Park area. We didn't realize there'd be snow in between the sheets! At least, it sure felt that way. While the owners were friendly and the place was clean and cute, the room was icy cold. There was frost inside the windows. The lower level has a breakfast room, which was very chilly, and a living room with a nice cozy fireplace. Only problem was, that room was reserved for the owners. Despite the door being partially open, a sign warned guests not to enter. I kind of hinted to the owner that it would be great to go in and warm up but she clearly set limits and said "oh, we need a little private space." Then they should have kept the paying guests warmer! We played a board game in the dining area and the host gave us a space heater, which we cranked up, and that made it okay. After an hour, though, he came storming into the room and ripped the cord out of the outlet and left. The surrounding hillsides were very pretty and the local Slate Museum was FANTASTIC and free! There were other attractions we will check out in the future there, but I think we'll stay elsewhere. Lots of places to explore. Still, I'd recommend Erw Fair - if you are coming in warm weather.

Booked en-suite rooms. Upon arrival it appeared the only rooms left were with shared bathroom. Owner instead of trying resolve situation threatened with a high voice to charge for the full stay regardless if we use the service or not. Rude remarks about not understanding... more
