When staying in Snowdonia Llanberis provides a good central location to reach all the best parts of North Wales.
If planning to have a walk up the mountain the S1 Sherpa bus (from just outside the hotel) will take you to Pen Y pass for the Miners or the Pyg track.
Our route was up the Miners and down the Llanberis path.
Having completed a long (and quite hard) walk it’s comforting to know you have somewhere warm and comfortable to return to nurse worn legs and feet.
Erw Fair provides just what a tired walker needs. A hearty breakfast, a comfy bed, nice people and some cats to play with.
It obvious that the proprietors take great care and pride in running Erw Fair (no idea how to pronounce it though!) the room, breakfast area and access areas are all spotlessly clean and well looked after.
Having completed the Snowdon walk buses (if too tired to drive) can be caught from just outside the hotel to many interesting places like Carfarnonon (sic) and its castle.
For places to eat (if you have room after the splendid breakfast) Llanberis caters for all possible tastes. We tended to stick to the famous Pete’s Eats.
The chip shop wasn’t the best but still enjoyable when sitting by the lake eating sausage and chips. The other place to recommend is the white one with the waterfall picture on the window (I can’t remember what it is called). You get more than is possible to eat for £11 something - the beef was the best!
Am looking forward to our next stay at Erw Fair and Llanberis.
