Dedeman Istanbul Hotel

We were a group of 25 persons staying for 10 nights and using the hotel facilities for an internal company training (2-3 meeting rooms, daily meeting package including coffee breaks and lunch). We were told that it's a 5 star hotel but you can immediately see that it is a 3 stars. Lobby is big with good daylight, meeting space is modern and well equipped,nice concierge and early check in. The hotel was satisfactory, with a terrific breakfast buffet and a good view from some of the rooms, but nothing extraordinary. But they get top marks becuase I had a tight late flight, and they let me stay late in the room, and then, when I had left important documents in the room, not only found them but sent them safely in a taxi to the airport. A less reliable operation would have meant problems for me, so I am a very satisfied customer.

Outstanding exercise room. Very nice location. Very good for business travelers!

Stayed at Dedeman hotel in April 2007 for business and I liked it a lot, the only downside was the cigarette smell in my first room. It was like walking into an ashtray, so I had it changed, which was done without any problems. The staff is friendly and professional and the food at the hotel restaurant was very good! It is buffet style but I found it great as it gave me chance to try many things I otherwise would not have tried. We spent a week at the Dedeman on business and have few complaints. Our room was large and comfortable, and the staff was uniformly excellent. The public spaces have been updated recently and are very nice. Though clean and comfortable, our room could have used updating as well. The carpet and furnishings were showing their age, and hopefully will be next on the remodel plan. Five stars probably have a different meaning in Turkey than elsewhere. Anyway, the hotel was just as expected: good, clean and functional for the business traveller. Very far away from historic sites but not far from the best shopping malls in Istanbul. Good value for money, with exception of food & beverages which are expensive. I recommend it if you have business in the surroundings of the Zincirlikuyu area. I wish the standards were higher at Hotel Dedeman. It is a typical business hotel. If you are mainly on a business trip and if you do not need to spend much time at historical sites, and this hotel is acceptable. With newly-opened shopping centers ( Cevahir and Kanyon) and entertainment places few kilometers from the hotel, it is also an interesting location.

I have stayed here a few times on business. It is semi-acceptable on that basis (close to the motorway & main banking district), but not recommended for anyone on holiday as miles away from the main tourist sights. The room was okay, but aircon not very effective. Very hot at night. Dinner poor. The restuarant is dark with annoying piano music (live). Food ok but over-priced. Reasonable breakfast buffet. Just stayed here for a week: it's a rather old hotel, comfortable, but not new or fixed up. Nice workout room with good equipment and free weights. Nice indoor pool. Staff was nice, breakfast, which was good--had lots of choices. 2 computers to get your email, but they were constantly in use, so you had to wait for them. It's in an area of business hotels, the "new european" section, and you have to go to to the "old european" section to see the museums, sights, etc. and it's across a bridge, about 15-20 YTL cab fare.

We ended up here for a night after being bumped off our flight due to overbooking. Not the kind of place we'd ever choose. It's supposedly a 5 star, I suspect based on the size and the facilities. However, the "facilities" may be there but they're pretty grim. The lobby is being dug up (very noisy, dirty and cramped). The rooms are tatty and smell funny. The restaurant is also tatty with insufficient ventilation and terrible (overpriced) food. It's in the business centre so useless for sightseeing. Finally the service was also... more
