More Traveller Reviews of Lykia Botanika
Cold food, poor facilities, disappointing choice of drinks.
from angel1000Derbyshire
We have recently returned from nine days holiday at the hotel Lykia Botanika and were pleased to get home. The only real pleasure of the whole holiday was the sunshine during the day.The accomodation we were allocated on our arrival was damp, tatty and crawling with insects. We asked to be moved after an awful night, and were given a drier and lighter room the following afternoon. The food is poor at best, always cold, and not covered. There may be a danger that someone could become ill. There was no visible safety at the pool i.e lifebelts or safety warnings, nor at the beach. The choice of drinks available on the all-inclusive package consists of local beer and wine, raki, gin and vodka only. There were very few leisure facilities available. There is a gym on site but the equipment had not been assembled, there are tennis courts but no rackets or balls, and only one bruised ping-pong ball! The beach is a five minute walk away from the hotel through a wooded area, where we saw and heard a variety of wildlife. At lunchtime there was food available at the beach bar which was freshly cooked and hot but this was only for two hours a day. Back at the hotel there are a number of dogs which frequent the restaurant and bars. There is a dolmus[bus] service from the hotel to Fethiye about every twenty minutes and the town is well worth a visit. There are ruins to explore, boats of every kind to sail on, shops to examine and a market every tuesday. The Turkish people we met were friendly and helpful and the scenery around the area is lovely but beware the hotel Lykia Botanika.
This is not a four star Hotel.
from Rammy99
We have arrived home from The Lykia Bontanika Hotel In Turkey. This is my honest review of this complex. Firsly this is not four star and if you look on their own website they only rate it as three.Travel agent rates it four which is a con because trust me its 2/3 Star in my opinion. Room was spacious but there was only me and my Son,would not like to have this room for family of four.A lot of people complained and were moved around the Hotel.Near reception is the most modern part of hotel with the best rooms. The rooms are decorated poorly with very old fashioned furniture and noisy air con but cleaned everyday to a high standard. The hotel had mainly Russian,German guests with a few English families. The Russian guests were never rude but never looked happy,Did not get a word out of one of them all week! The food was ok if you like salads chips and pancakes.Same food everyday with little meat.Lots of pasta but generally the food is not set up for English people. The entertainment was crap and thats polite.Same cd every night same order.Very good for toddlers but no good for teenagers. This hotel is advertised as Fethiye which is rubbish. It is nowhere near Fethiye and is a 40 minute bus ride but they do leave every twenty minutes.I dont mind these buses as you get to look at the Turkish way of life on the way but could annoy a lot of other people. I must also point out the miserable receptionist who billed me 50p for a phone call to my transfer company at the end of my stay.Nice hospitality! and a face like a wet fish!!! Would i go back. No! Its not just the Hotel its Turkey.Everything has rocketed in price.Dont be fooled that Turkey is cheap this year because its not. They will try to rip you off on everything.Be careful as they say a price but make sure its in Turkish lira and not pounds as my kind Phographer did to me at the Hotel.Ten pounds for a Macdonalds at the airport!I heard a lot of English complain about Turkey this year which is a shame because i love Turkey but not going back next year. The hospitality has gone which is why i loved going there. When will people learn that treating people well is why we always return. Hope this helped. M,
Never again!

I really wish I took the other into account before I booked my holiday! No hot water! Only on the first day there it was lukewarm. I asked my boyfriend to go and ask them to do something about it and they told him that someone was going to come and fix it in 10 minutes...Noone showed up so I had to take a shower with freezing cold water at night! The next day I went down to the reception and asked them to do something about it as I had a sore throat from the cold water. They told me that there was nothing they could do about it and explained me how they were trying to save money buy turning the heating system down between 7 and 4. So I ended up with a flu at 40 degrees temperature, because of the hotel! Thats not all.. unfortunately.. As others already told, the food is almost always cold, sometimes warm but never ever hot.. Dinner is served at the following lunch (i.e. potatoes from the dinner is served as mashed potatoes for the lunch). It wasn't that bad, but definitely wasnt like a four star hotel. It wasnt Britist, true, but it wasnt Turksih or Russian or anything either.. It was just ... food to survive really.. Other than that, the activities, facilities.... Well.. They do have a tennis court and two table tennis tables. The court is bumpy... The tennis rackets are buggered, there was no balls so I had to buy a couple from the market. The tennis tables were painted with an actual paint so it was a bit shiny which made it quite difficult to play on ... The beach!! I was expecting a sandy beach but it was pebbly. It was almost impossible to walk into. It was amost always croppy, so I generally prefered the pool which was okay... Drinks... Beer wasnt so good, It was some locak brand called Pera? Something like that. For some reason redwine was cold. But I managed to have some as I had nothing else to do... Seciruty... There isnt any... And the worst thing is that, the reception is not the only entrance to the hotel, so you can see random people coming from the street to swim in the pool or have food (or into your rooms!). No one is checking. Probably its not nothing to do with he hotel, but people are so rude. They dont know how to queue up, or be kind and let you get passed etc. Once a guy tried to use the coffee machine at the same time as I was, where the machine stopped working altogether, the guy swore at the machine and left without even saying ' sorry about that, I didnt know how it worked.` !! That really made me so angry. The reception... Probably they are all good people, but they are not right for this position. And the problem was not language. I speak Turkish, my boyfriend speaks English, none of us managed to communicate with these people. Ah! Bribes... The staff working there get the minimum wage, so somehow they have to get some more money. So they accept bribe. i.e. They go to the wine container with several jugs, finish off the whole thing, and bring them to the briber. Same with pancakes, grills, etc. Several people just wait there for half and hour for a piece of pancake. Then the waiter guy comes and finishes off the food and we watch them go and serve others! So if you dont want to wait, just pay the waiter and he'll get you some... What else... Oh.. On the last day... I want to the little shop that belongs to the hotel. There were a couple of young people working. One of them was standing outside, said hi as we met before.. I went in to look for some Halls or something for my throat but I couldnt find any as the shop was quite unorganised. I was talking with my boyfriend about that I could do, looking around at the same time (speaking English). Then the guy started insulting us in Turkish, thinking that I was a foreigner. Then the other worker came and tried to shush him and told him that I spoke Turkish... I really did not know what to do.. I was absolutely raging! I am there to buy their overpriced products, and they do not have the decency be kind to us! I wonder what happened to the Turkish hospitality and friendliness... And my last hours after recovering from the shop event... We packed up, happy that we were leaving... Waiting for Gold Trail to come and take us to the airport... Surprise! They did not come... They left us there... We tried to call Goldtrail, noone answered.. So we had to call a taxi and pay 45 pounds extra to get to the airport. What a lovely holiday... I am never ever going back to this hotel, or to Turkey... NEVER.
Non-English resort
from mavali
I stayed for a week & the only thing that kept us going were the excursions that got us out of the resort & the good weather! I'd read the reviews & thought it could not possibly be as bad as it's review but I was wrong. BAD POINTS Dangerous Beach, Paving stones missing from walk paths, lawn not maintained, Over all home to mosqeetoes, Evening meals had be eat unter a roof fan to keep the mosqeetoes at bay, Left overs to eat every day, Same deserts day in day out, Reception staff who could not communicate in English & So laid back that if they worked any slower they would stop alltogether... GOOD POINTS Fresh pancakes, Very, very, very good entertainment team & "THAT ALL FOLKS" If you are unlucky enough to have booked this place then do email me with any questions as I would love to be of assistance.
just the best

We had a great holiday, we stayed for 2 weeks, and although I would say the food was a little predictable, we were never bored. The kids had a good time, there was plenty for them to do. We never had to queue for anything, and the staff were fab. It was a really quiet resort, so if you are looking for nightlife forget it. The evening entertainment is good, be prepared to participate! There was a mini club but we didn't use it. There was a lovely walk through a wooded area to get to the beach, with a stream and plent y of nature to look at. The beach (stony and sandy, so take your beach shoes) was clean and ok with a jetty and steps to get in the sea. Take advantage of the scuba diving , its a good trip out and good fun.
Lovely week
from susie33Leeds
I was quite worried about staying at this resort after reading some of the reviews on here, but the resort exceeded my expectations on the whole. It isn't a 'British resort' as such, but I prefered this as there were many different nationalities staying there (mainly German, Russian and Turkish I think). The staff are all pleasant. The private beach is nice with a selection of watersports to try (some all inclusive). I cannot understand why someone wrote that the beach is a bit of a dump, there's nothing wrong with it at all, but I guess it depends on what you're expecting. The pool is very big with a couple of water slides. All inclusive - good selection of drinks. Food probably isn't quite 4* quality but you're probably not paying 4* prices to go here! I found the whole week very good value for money. I was worried about the food, but every night we managed to eat well. There was always a chicken dish of some sort, I also had beef, pork, plenty of pasta. If you like salads then they were lovely. Breakfasts are good with cereals, eggs cooked for you, pancakes etc The entertainment is hit and miss, its very family orientated although we did see a Turkish dancing show one night which was pretty good. The room was fine. Good size and a balcony. Again it isn't really 4* standard more 2/3* but we only really paid 2/3* prices for the all inclusive week so I was happy enough with that. Its not near the centre of Fetiye, in fact its a 30 - 40 minute Dolmus away (cost about £3 return). Not sure how much it would be in a taxi as we only ventured over there once on the Dolmus. If you are staying here you absolutely must do the boat trip - get tickets from the jewelery shop in the resort, about £20 each and you are out from 10am till 6pm. Lovely lunch and all your drinks included. It was a fantastic day out, and really good value. I wouldn't hesitate to go here again, but there are so many other places I want to visit so probably won't! You generally get what you pay for and I feel that this holiday was good value for money. If you want a very British resort right in the middle of the action, then this place isn't for you. Personally I really enjoyed my week here.
Square Burgers
from Lisa_Andy
We booked a last minute holiday and paid £350 each for a week's all inclusive which is pretty good, however the food and drink wasn't that good. Every day without fail square shaped burgers would appear on the menu and I'm sure they were re heats! It was the end of the season and not that many people about so maybe they didn't make that much of an effort. Other than that the food was pretty good, fresh fried chips everyday. The hotel was really nice, very clean, the pool area was beautiful, the beach was not that great. But we still had a fantastic holiday, if you are looking for a break away from everything this is the place to go. The hotel is in the middle of a forest so if you wanted to go into town it is a 30 minute bus ride away. Fethiye is a beautiful place and I'm really glad we went. Don't pay any more than £350.00 otherwise it would be a waste of money!
Not very satisfied
from Sabikeuk
The accommodations wasn't like for 4* hotel, 2* hotel in Spain has better accommodations like this hotel. The bathroom was really terrible - 1*. The hotel was built in 1989 and since that time it looks like nothing was changed. Lot of Russian and Germans, few English were there. Food was OK, quite plenty, but everything was old...restaurant, bar. You could get coffee, tea and soft drink and wine all the time. At 16.00-17.00 was cake time and chips. The pool is quite nice. Well if you want to really enjoy your holiday you should not go there. Very unsatisfied.
Good value for money
from Amandapsr
I stayed at this hotel 29th Aug – 5th September. This resort is not 4* more 2*/3* this is what I found at the resort. First the good.... Grounds –are well maintained with beautiful gardens and mature plants. And it is spotlessly clean. There is not a speck of dirt anywhere and given that this is a very tropical environment and a remote location. The pool and pool area is very clean, no life guard, main pool is very deep 190cms, two other pools suitable for non swimmers and children. Service - The quality of the staff and the service they provide are good. Food will be good if you enjoy tapaz, Spanish, Greek, Turkish and Russian food. No full English at this hotel most of the hot dishes I did not recognise. One day I recognised tripe the Russians seem to love it. I was told by one of the chefs that meat is very expensive in turkey so all bits of animals are use along with Soya. Cold food selection very good, vegetarians and vegans would find no difficulty in eating. A good egg bar for omelettes pancakes French bread etc... No fruit juice available only diluted squashes, no toaster, but a microwave is available. The fish restaurants was okay fried calamari, prawns, trout and ice cream Alcohol was freely available and in large measures. Out side rooms are hot and cold water dispensers, really good if you have baby bottle to make up. No problem in getting pool side lounger even at 10am. Free computer access and Wi Fi The not so good Rooms are large, same price, but are all furnish differently, we were allocated two entirely different rooms 1 (236)was like what you see in the pictures two single beds and a bunk bed, pine furniture stained in hint of green paint. These rooms are dated with uncomfortable hard mattress and pillows. A noisy toilet flush and tap attached by a flexi hose that kept spinning every time you touched it. In both rooms the opening to the showers are restricted which could provide difficulties if you had to shower a child or fairly overweight The other room (no 74) naturally stain pine with modern bathroom fitments but still has a restricted shower entrance. Sheets are new, but all other linen is old, thread bear, colours in beach towels have faded and some had holes. The fridge provided is empty and not stocked as suggested in literature. Hotel only has a reception no concierge, first hotel I have ever stayed in that does not have an iron/board or provide a laundry service. Turkish bath is run by Natures wellness centre, standards are unhygienic, the same cloth which is used for your feet, bum etc will be used for your face. No Spatulas (fingers are used) are not used for crèmes, the masseur does not wash his hands after each client…. You have been warned, also all prices are in Euros, when you ask for them to be converted into Turkish lira you are offered a lower exchange rate. The beach is what is called unspoilt, I would call it undeveloped, trees are used as shade, sandy beach has lots of large stones, sea very rough therefore difficult to swim in, reasonable facilities provided by the hotel at the beach. I.e. showers, toilets, bar with snacks. Evening entertainment is poor. Main English TV station BBC World Overall this is hotel is good value for money if you get a good deal, very family oriented and laid back. Other things – Went on one organised trip with tour company Yesil Dalyan, to Lycian rock tombs, mud baths and a river boat trip (£16) include lunch. Tour guide Nazeem a bit of a con artist, he had his own supply of DVDs (sights and history of Turkey) and CD’s (Turkish music) which is had copied and burned himself they do not work. He will tell you that the price of drink on the beach is twice the price that is on the boat untrue some prices at the beach are cheaper, he also insisted that that people leave a tip for the driver and him, some people refused but others were embarrassed and did so. Took local bus to Fethiye, 40 minutes by local bus, Fethiye just has shops and restaurants. Tuesday market reminded me of Walthamstow market nothing special, yes you can get 4 designer handbags for £10 but there are plastic other fake designer leather goods are not good copies. One good buy draining board that sells in UK for £29 cost £6.
paradise
from rosiescoob
Just returned from lykia botanika. it was like being in paradise for two weeks. Room very clean although old fashioned plenty of wardrobe space. Food was very good plenty of choice waiters and bar men very polite. Animation team very friendly games going on all day entertainment in evening crap but late disco on beach if you wanted. Its a bit isolated so there is no were else to go , there is a bus service into fethiye but i didnt find much there only the market on tuesdays which was brill got loads of bargains. It is a bit of a dump outside the hotel but within the hotel the gardens are beautiful and the beach which is not sandy but i prefer that. is nice.I would give this hotel 8 out of 10
