Marelen Hotel & Apartments Reviews
" We enjoyed our stay at this hotel, it... "

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel, it is very well positioned for the beach, just at the end of the road, 2 minute walk. But it is a bit of a walk into the centre of the resort which is ok when going out at night but coming home late at night is a bit unnerving as there is not much light only what comes from other buildings. The resort itself is fab, plenty of excellent restaurants and some bars, it has plenty to keep you occupied but not too rowdy.
Because the resort is quite flat it is ideal for hiring a bike, there seems to be a few places that hire them out. You can cycle into the other resorts and out into the countryside, we had a couple of enjoyable days out on the bikes and they were very cheap to hire.
Back to the hotel I would recommend staying here if you want some peace and quiet, there is a very good pool and plenty of sunbeds and brollys, I found a fantastic spot next to a large palm tree which was perfect for lying under. The breakfasts are buffet style with plenty of choice, I am a veggie and there was always something there for me. There is a poolside bar selling the usual drinks and snacks and ice cream. My only complaint about the eating area is that there was a lot of wasps about which kept getting on the tables.
The only thing I did not like about the resort is the men who run the horse and carts, they stop outside the hotel and we quite often seen them whipping the horses and they constantly pester you into going in the carts. They stand all day in the heat and work in the evening’s non stop. I actually complained to the hotel about the way the horses were treated but I doubt they would have done anything. Please if you go to this resort do not use the horse and carts.
There seems to be building work going on in the outskirts of the resort so I expect one day it will be too big and spoil it, but for now I would recommend going.

Basic accomodation but very clean. The pool is very clean and also the surrounding areas. Pool side bar very good for snacks/drinks right throughout the day. Childrens club at midday everyday with Michaela who is very friendly, the kids love her. Entertainment in the hotel every evening whether is be family games, bingo, singer, greek night etc. Always something going on. Kalamaki centre only 10 minute walk with loads of tavernas and bars. I would not recommend this to youngster's as resort not too lively but just right for couples and families. Beach only a short stroll from the hotel and we got to see huge turtles in the sea when out on a pedlo, a must if you can. We hired a car for a few days which was really reasonable and travelled the island. The sunset was amazing, again a must if you can.
Hotel Marelen very peaceful place to stay but lively enough to keep the children occupied. You won't be disappointed.
