We had an excellent time in Cyprus,...

Jul 2007, Mr W Graves

We had an excellent time in Cyprus, it was our first holiday with our daughter; however it went very smoothly with the help of the staff especially Tasos and the girls in the restaurant, they were friendly and helpful. It was encouraging that they could meet our needs with our daughter starting to eat solid food; it could be difficult to get what she needed however they would provide pretty much everything we required.
We were unfortunate not to have great weather for the first week, but due to the resident Thomas cook staff this did not affect our holiday, they were helpful to change our car hire to earlier date so we could get about while the weather was not so good. They gave great suggestions on what we could do and see. The Thomas Cook staff were the best holiday Reps we have come across so far.
The accommodation was clean; the only problem was we were in the older apartments which were in the process of being redecorated. However this did not interfere at all with the holiday but the bathroom did need to be rethought as the curtain did not go in the shower tray causing the bathroom to flood, so had to be mopped every time we used it, a bit unsafe for young children. Apart from this any problem we did have was sorted immediately.
The location is ideal for families just off the main stretch for quiet but close enough to feel that you could make the most of what Protaras has to offer. Protaras itself is child friendly, beautiful beaches and everything in walking distance, Ayia Napa is a short bus ride or car/ cab journey, (cabs are fairly reasonable too).
With Cyprus being so close to Egypt, excursions available we did the flight for a day, bit of a long day for the baby however not to be missed. One of the highlights of the holiday with wonderful guides its a must do, if you are unlikely to go to Egypt as a destination this is the ideal solution seeing the pyramids, Sphinx, Nile and the museum with the treasures of Tutankhamen, Brilliant excursion!
The accommodation was better then expected, we had got a very reasonable deal for our two week holiday. The accommodation is informal, however this is what we prefer in a hotel, we have done the 5 star plus resorts to the cheap low star ratings. If anything the rating at the time I would consider to be low however the price does reflect the rating. Hence we were impressed with the accommodation and excellent staff and friendly nature of the apartments as a whole; they encouraged guest to mingle which we do not often do and met a variety of people thus making the holiday more enjoyable.
We had a wonderful holiday if we were to go back we would definitely go back to the Andreotis; ideal for families, excellent location and more than adequate accomation with wonderful staff and atmosphere.

WOW - Tasos and George make the hotel, it is excellent. The first time they meet you they know you, they will always call you by your first name and make it a very personal holiday.
Drinks are cheap and the food is lovely, hotel is in a perfect location, just off the main strip so nice and quiet but so close to the fun!
Will definitely be going back there!

Jul 2007, Colin + Claire

Me and my girlfriend stayed here as it was recommended to us. It didn’t disappoint.
The location is perfect, about 5 minutes walk from all the shops and bars.
Accommodation is pretty basic but to be honest we were not in it that much as the weather was so hot. The worst part of the rooms are the showers, it tends to flood the bathroom because there is no bath, and it’s just a shower curtain and tray.
The pool area is really clean but be warned get up early to get a sunlounger. Tassos has the ability to remember everybody’s names which is good, they make you feel very welcome.
It is an ideal location for families, because it’s in a quiet location. While you are in Protaras go to cheers pub. The beers cheap and the food is superb. There’s plenty to do for all the family. Even an only fools and horses pub.
We will be coming back to Cyprus next year and will stay here again.

Just returned from a fantastic two weeks! We cannot wait to go back again next year!
Everyone is very friendly and the food and drink at the bar/restaurant is tops!! The Cypriot night and Karaoke are great fun.
We went on the jeep safari which was fabulous and the cruise to Egypt which was amazing!!
Tasos, George, Murat and all see you in May 08!

Our first time to Cyprus, and we loved it.
The Andreotis Apartments were clean, spacious, and well equipped. The Staff were very friendly and could not do enough for us.
Our only complaint was that one week was not long enough!!
We would definitely go back.
This was the best holiday ever.

May 2007, Mrs S Mcquillen

We have just got back from the Andreotis apartments this morning and thoroughly enjoyed staying there.
The bungalow apartment we stayed in was clean and tidy and overlooked the pool which was clean and well kept.
All the staff were lovely especially Tasos who worked in the bar/ restaurant.
We will definitely be returning to Protaras and would stay again at the Andreotis as it is also close to the town, bars and restaurants.
Nicholas tavern is most definitely worth a visit or few as the food is exceptional, very tasty, and good value for money. The staff that work there are very pleasant and polite and Nicholas the owner is very friendly nothing is too much trouble.
Also try the love boat for an entertaining night as the drag act and Elvis are very good.

I and my husband stayed here for a week, the apartment was very comfortable, and clean.
The hotel is about 2 mins walk from the centre so is very quiet. Only every Tuesday night the Andreotis has a karaoke, which is noisy but we didn’t mind too much.
The beach was out of this world, the sea is so clear. We wouldn’t never have gone to Cyprus if it had not been for his sister getting married out there, but I can say we will def go back there to the same hotel they were so friendly.
Would def recommend it was great. When you book enjoy!

We just returned from the Andreotis...

May 2007, Mr IW Campbell

We just returned from the Andreotis Apartments a couple of weeks ago and after reading such good reports online before booking, I thought this place was going to be fantastic.
How disappointed we were. We were probably the first holiday makers on Cyprus in 2007 - it being the first week of the season. As you would expect most places were empty and getting ready for the coming season.
This was not too much an issue for us (as we do not like it too busy), The Andreotis accommodation was average.
Very clean but extremely basic. The camp bed my youngest was put up on was ancient and not very comfortable and my wife and I had 2 x single beds pushed together which was far from welcome - but the beds were pretty uncomfortable too.
The shower curtain on the corner shower did not like to stay in the tray, thus creating a flood every time you used it.
Anyway, that’s enough about the accommodation - overall average marks there I think.
As for the Bar Manager and his amazing ability to remember everyone’s name. Yes I agree - it’s a lovely party trick BUT this for me does not make a good holiday or want me to return.
Let’s not forget that this is the first week of the season and we had a very poor service from the restaurant. I feel for the people who follow us in the peak season when things really will get busy. The food was below average too. To be perfectly honest, I have had tastier Moussaka from one of our supermarkets and this is one of their (Greek) dishes!
Our advice if you are set on staying here - eat out. There are many nice restaurants on the main drag (or on the D as they call it - that’s the shape of the resort).
I just thought after seeing all those positive reports I thought I should try and set the balance straight as we were very disappointed with our stay and we would not return again. Sorry all!

I and my partner stayed at the Andreotis in the middle of April.
Honestly can't fault the place. The staff were very helpful and friendly, especially George and Tassos, very welcoming.
When we were venturing out on a couple of occasions they offered to ring our taxi for us to get us a better deal, (which they did!).
The staff in the bar/restaurant truly cannot do enough for you. The food was great, just like home from home really (enough choice for everyone), so we ate at the Andreotis mostly and did not have a bad meal. Reasonable prices too. The chef is also an English lad.
Our particular room was spotless and the maid cleaned daily, and always brought clean towels. She was also an excellent alarm clock!
Protaras itself is a lovely place; we were welcomed everywhere we went. It was a bit quiet for us and we would have preferred it livelier at night.
However, I believe in the height of the season some have said that it can be a bit too noisy, particularly if you stay near the main strip.
Luckily the Andreotis is set back from this so there should not be any problems getting a good night’s sleep.
Probably 2-3 minutes’ walk away from the main attractions. Shopping was pretty rubbish, better things in the UK and cheaper.
We went to the Waterpark at Ayia Napa and had a great time. Didn't think much of Ayia Napa itself though, it appeared dirty and dismal. A really nice walk in Protaras is up the coast to Pernera. There are some lovely coves and cafe/bars on the beach.
The weather wasn't brill, was cold at night and all the bars are open fronted. Had some rain too on last 2 days of holiday, and a thunderstorm.
Would definitely go back, just not in April.

We have just come back from our first holiday in Cyprus, staying at the Andreotis apartments.
My advice would be, if you stay at the Andreotis don't look anywhere else as you will be really disappointed at the difference in standards.
The rooms are dark and the furniture shabby (stains on the chairs etc). The shower is a small square with a curtain round it that sucks in whenever you operate the water.
The bar staff are pleasant and do remember your names, unfortunately they don't remember your food order and we left after waiting 1 and 1/4 hours for our food to come, to seek out the Pizza hut who didn't know our names but fed us!
After discussion with our rep who was at best ineffectual and at worst indifferent (I'm only the messenger), we paid to move into the Brilliant apartments which were bright, spacious and fresh.
Our holiday took a definite turn for the better at this point. I have read other reviews about the Andreotis apartments and genuinely cannot understand how people can rate them so highly. Are there two apartments with the same name? If you want bright and fresh this is not the place to go.
Cyprus was cold for most of the week and quite a large percentage of Protaras is closed at the beginning of April, so go May onwards if you want to see it fully operational.
Generally, the Cypriot people are friendly and helpful.
The checking in at Larnaka airport was a shambles, we sighed with relief once we got on the plane.
Sorry this is such a negative review, and we’re just being honest.

The Andreotis make a real good base...

Jan 2007, latic1

The Andreotis make a real good base for a great holiday.
We have stayed there 3 times and are going back in April this year and also in August.
If you are looking for a family base it is fantastic. We have two children and not once were they complaining of being board which if anyone out there has children will know keeping them happy on hols is a blessing!!
The apartments are clean and all staff from the cleaners, reception staff (especially Benny) and Tassos and Crew are GREAT. Tassos and his staff in the Bar make you feel so welcome also he remembers everyone’s name how? I don't know.
The pool area is a bit of a grey area in the high season July/August. I have never got up on holiday at 7.00am in the morn just to get a couple of beds for me and my husband
I did stay on mine once I was up but not everyone else does the same.
People tend to put towels down on the way back to the apartment from the night before which isn’t fair to people who have made the effort to get out of bed.
The weather was very hot but the rooms do have air con (only in bedroom if staying in apartment with more than one room) but that didn’t matter because your not in the room in the day. Also you are made to pay for the air con for the length of time you are there if you want it. (You will need it)
The apartments are located quite central only a short walk from all bars and restaurants
But not that central where your kept awake by noise.
The beach is fantastic (FIG TREE BAY) loads of water sports. Only downside if you go to Protaras in the first two weeks of August the local holidays start, so the beach is good if you can get on it at this time of year.
Can't wait to go back!

Jan 2007, 100% Lady

The Andreotis Apartments are really great!
Perfect location, just 500 metres away from FigTree Bay and literally a couple of minutes away from the start of the "strip" - where you will find plenty of bars, restaurants, shops etc.
The Accommodation was great, really clean. We booked the only 2 bed Apartment in the complex, which was very spacious. We even had two balconies!
Food wise, it was okay but for the same price (maybe slightly more on a few occasions) you could eat away from the Andreotis, around the "strip" etc, as there are that many different bars, restaurants to choose from.
We hardly ever bothered eating at the Andreotis. When we did though, it was alright.
The staff were ever so friendly. Tassos the owner, and George, remembered all our names (there were 6 adults and 4 children in our party) for the duration whilst we were there. Two weeks. AMAZING!

I would personally give the Andreotis 10/10...perfect.
