Fantastic for all ages
from tarrabadger
What a great surprise. First impresions wiped away the weary traveller. By the time we arrived there was brecky on the go. The staff took the cases up and or fab time began. The staff 5 * The hotel underated 4* The travel information is miss leading they have things going on all the time for the kids and entertainment every night. I would recommend a trip in to the center at least once and the boat trip is a must (take planty of lotion) This was a really surpising resort not spoiled and all the people where so friendly. There where a mixed buch for brits, germans and others and we all got along really well. I wouldl stay away from hiring a car as the drive like mad men and the taxis are cheap.
Would reccomend this hotel

The thing that impressed me the most about big blue was the staff, they were all very friendly, attentitive, polite and best of all had a fantastic sense of humour! The food was good, alot of choice and the hotel was very clean and well decorated. There was also an organised bus to take you to and from the harbour at night after the hotel entertainment. I would say the entertainment was good for young children but if you're over 8 or a teenager not old enough to go out of the hotel at night, then there wouldnt be a lot to do. Theres also a jacuzzi and massage parlour which you have to pay extra for, but i would highly reccomend!
Great value, clean and well maintained

This compact property is well kept and quite modern. Its in a quiet side street around 5 mins walk to the promenade and beach of Alanya. There are some buildings in the near vicinity in various states of construction but didn’t intrude on the overall enjoyment of the complex. There is a small shop in the lobby area, but for a better selection, there is a modern shopping centre and supermarket across the road should you need anything. The Turkish bath facility was quite pleasant and very reasonable. The steam room is free, with a massage from around 20 euros for 30 minutes. There are two pools one with a double water slide. There were plenty of padded sunloungers, towels are not provided. There was a tennis court, table tennis table and darts board. I had a one bedroomed apartment with cooking facilities and fridge. Bathroom was tiny, but functional. Hot water was intermittent in the mornings probably due to the solar heating and Turkish plumbing. For the best outlook from your balcony, ask for a pool view. Food was well presented, and typical of all inclusive Turkish cuisine, and me being a fussy eater managed to find something to eat at all times. As part of the all inclusive deal, drinks of course are on tap and cake & biscuits were served in the afternoon. A short 5min taxi ride takes you to the harbour area of Alanya (7 euros) where most of the shops and restaurants and nightclubs are concentrated. I felt this complex represented excellent value for money, and I would return. Go with the expectations of a 3 star property and you will be quite happy.
Very Clean Hotel - Dissapointed at rating
from SteveKev38
The Hotel is very very clean. The waiters are all very friendly, but unless your German, the Manager ignores you. Breakfast is for Germans, meats and cheeses, no fry up what so ever. The Lunch and Dinner menu is nice with plenty of options. They also do pizzas and cakes and breads at different times. Entertainment was very average and the drinks can be obtained from 10.30 am till 11pm at night only. Ideal for families with young kids, or if you plan on going out a lot. Be warned near a Mosque which starts their first call to Prayer at 5.25am each morning. We booked the hotel as a four star but it was a three. 5 mins from the beach and a nice 40mins walk into Alanya town, or Bus is 10mins 1YTL. Turkish bath is free and I had a classic full body massage for 32YTL (about £11). Overall nice, waiters excellent, recepionist ver helpful, Manager awful.
Great value for money

The hotel is very clean, rooms a good size with a small kitchen which has a fridge, although the holiday was all inclusive and the rooms have air conditioning which is provided at no extra cost. The staff are very friendly and helpful especailly 2 of the bar waiters , Jem & Apu who seemed to speak the best English. Entertainment in the evenings was minimal with a kids disco for about 20 minutes. Food was OK but repetetive. Pizza's which are made fresh between 3 & 5 pm are very good. The tea was already made with milk and kept warm in an urn so a good tip is get your own tea bags and a mug and use the hot water and milk. Alanya town is well woth a visit and the dolmus bus stops on the main road, they will literally stop anywhere! this costs 1TL.. There is also Oba area which is about 5 minutes walk with more shops and cafes. There is not much in the way of shops and cafes around the hotel. Pool area clean and tidy with plenty of sundeds at no extra charge, these are moved away in the evening and the dining tables are set out around the pool so get down early if you want to eat outside. Overall we thought this hotel was good value for money.
hotel club big blue

Just got back from Alanya, Turkey. Alanya itself very nice and lively. The hotel club big blue very clean hotel, but very disappointed with the entertainment side of it... The kids club was non existent.. The evening entertainment...... what entertainment, Half hour disco for the little ones old mC donald very poor show, the same thing every night, nothing at all for teenagers, no kids menu unless you order the day before and thats a choice of burgers or burgers or cheeseburgers!! food very repetative. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and clean. A lot of building work going on around the hotel. They will not give you more drinks at night if you still have a glass in front of you... is this all inclusive?? It is a 3 star hotel and not 4 as advertised. The swimming pools were clean but the slides are only on three times a day for 45 min so it was boring for the children. We would go back to alanya but not the club big blue.
The waiters made the holiday for our teenagers!

The rooms were brilliant. Clean, fresh and insect free! The food brilliant for the first week. Tired a bit of the recycled food!the second week. No icecreams or cocktails included. No newspapers. The lifts and reception have no air conditioning. The staff are ace. I was sold this hotel as a 4* it is a three*. Saying that, we went with 2 teenagers and they enjoyed meeting the dutch, german and russian teenagers. I would not reccomend going there if you didnt intend venturing outside the hotel. It is ideal for a family with youngsters.
Perfect Match for us!

Just returned from Club Big Blue, Alanya, Turkey. Nine of us travelled in total -4 Adults -2 Teenagers - 3 under 6 year olds. On arrival we were allocated 6th floor rooms... But within minutes of speaking to reception were moved to 1st and 2nd floor rooms excellent start we thought. Our rooms were immaculate, bathrooms the same. All rooms were set up with self catering kitchenette including a fridge! Little sitting room/bedroom 2 had table chairs and t.v. All rooms had balcony or two. And main bedroom had airconditioning. The food was beautiful having travelled to Turkey many times I believe is was a true representation of great turkish food, the freshest bread and salads, hot options at every meal and great evening bar-b-cued meals. Ice creams were not included in this all-inclusive hotel but, then is this a bad thing when trying to educate children to eat healthily at meal times. And because all the other children didn't have an ice cream every 5mins our Children didn't seem to ask very much either. Two water slides were turned on 3 times a day for 45mins daily and in between that it was meal times so no time to be bored This was a smaller Hotel where we could identify our children in the pool immediatley and felt relaxed within secure grounds. I agree with others that if you have older teenagers they could become a little bored in the evenings. But for families like us with young children it's ideal. Beach 5mins walk - Small town 10mins walk - or Alanya a short bus ride for 1TL per adult. Hotel shop proved to be no more expensive than the town. Hammam was excellent. Service was friendly and good. Thanks Club Big Blue for a great holiday! Lee, Heather, Tracey, Lydia, Amy, Tilly, Jacob, Samira & Louise.

just returned from the Club Big Blue in Alanya. Lovely hotel with clean rooms, friendly staff etc. Would not recommend for anyone with children aged 9 upwards due to the lack of entertainment for them, my 12 year old daughter was bored most of the holiday due to there being no entertainment catering for her needs. she felt silly dancing to 'Old McDonald had a Farm' in the half hour slot in the evening 9 - 9.30 p.m. Also the flight did not leave Manchester until 9pm on the Friday meaning that with the airport transfer we did not get into bed until 7.30am on the Saturday. Great if you are used to working nights but does ruin your holiday. Meaning that your holiday is only really 6 days rather than 7. the food tended to be repetitve and there was only children's meals available at lunchtime, no good if you intend to explore or go on the day trips offered by your reps. Husband and daughter went on rafting trip which they loved and would go on again. i went on the hamam trip and found this very relaxing and refreshing. although there was nothing to entertain my daughter, she found the waiters very entertaining and they went out of their way to help. The room itself was very close to the pool area, so if we decided to sit on our balcony in the evening, it tended to have the disco blaring out till 12am. Also if coaches pulled up at 4am then we were woken up. No cocktails included in all inclusive price tended to be priced about 4 to 6 euros. from steph, mark and rachel (merseyside)
Big Blue Review
from Snakewoman
We stayed at Club Big Blue in Alanya for one week, and decided that this was probably the longest we could have stayed there. Although the hotel was clean, the staff were friendly and we enjoyed our stay, some of the food was recycled for the evening meal for dinner and the choice was limited, with the same mezes and puddings each day. The hotel was not **** as it was advertised when we booked, but it was definately ***. With a reasonable sized pool, a baby pool and 2 water slides, I would reccomend the hotel for families with children, but for families with older children or young adults there was very little to do in the hotel, with no disco, and a poor entertainment schedule. Ice creams and cocktails were not included with the all inclusive deal, and the dining room is really small, so at nights they move the tables outside around the pool- but be early for dinner when the hotel is full, because there aren't enough tables for everyone and a lot of people tend to stay in the same place all evening, limiting your changes of getting a table if you're late. There is a Turkish bath/ massage parlour, a hairdresser and a small shop, all located in the lobby. The rooms are fitted with kichen facilities, including cutlery, and are air conditioned. The hotel is not situated right in the centre of Alanya, but in a suburb surrounded by apartment blocks. Many new hotels are being built around the area, and one next to Club Big Blue, though whilst we were there this caused us no disturbance whatsoever. The hotel is 5 minutes' walk from the beach and 10 minutes' ride by bus or taxi to the centre of Alanya (the bus cost us 1YTL per person, and a taxi 10YTL in total). The beach is sandy, but there are many rocks and pebbles in the sea; you have to swim a few metres out before you can stand up without hurting your feet! Alanya is a vibrant town with a central bazaar, a castle, a port and many shops, pubs and clubs. We visited the castle by catching a taxi up the steep hill ( it cost us 20YTL), the entrance fee to the castle was 5YTL per person, and it was interesting to walk around and admire the views. We walked down from the castle through picturesque villages, where you can buy souvenirs and freshly squeezed orange juice from the locals, and eat in restaurants along the way. The Turkish people are very friendly and love children, but will work very hard to sell you goods from their shops. Whilst in Alanya we went on a boat trip and also on a rafting trip. The boat trip did not live up to our expectations- we have been on far better trips when we stayed in Bodrum and Cesme. We were taken around the bay to the next harbour, where we stopped for lunch and could swim in the sea (but 19 other boats were in the same harbour, so it got very crowded). We then sailed back to our starting point, visiting a cave on the way from which you could jump into the sea. The river rafting, on the other hand, was a fantastic day out- we were picked up from the hotel and taken on a one and a half hour journey to the first base, where we met other groups (mostly very friendly Polish people), then we went on a 40 minute journey to collect life jackets and helmets, before being taken to the river. We could chose from a large raft of at least ten people, or a two-person canoe. We went along a 10km stretch of river, admiring the spectacular scenery and navigating small sections of rapids. We were filmed on the way down and bought the DVD afterwards, which is of very good quality. Overall, Club Big Blue is a good place for young families, and is a well-situated base for trips (you can do other things like Jeep safari and shopping in Antalya), but it would become boring if you stay in the hotel all of your holiday and don't make the effort to explore. The resort is mostly visited by Germans and Russians, with only a few other English people in our hotel, but the Turkish people speak English very well, and it wasn't a problem at all.

Just returned from 1 week holiday at Big Blue in Alanya, Turkey. We were a party of 6, 4 adults 1 child aged 10 and an infant aged 14 months. We all had an extremely great time. Weather was extremely hot, usually 29 degrees even in the evening. You definately need plenty... more
