A fabulous holiday. The log cabin...

A fabulous holiday. The log cabin (which is really just a caravan) was spotlessly clean and very spacious. We had a 2 bedroom cabin for 2 adults and 3 children aged 4, 7 and 8.
Facilities in the cabin were good with comfortable beds. (Please bear in mind it is not a 5* hotel!) Facilities on site were good if a bit expensive (to be expected though) Pool was wonderful with towel hire if required.
Cabin was secluded and set in woodland surroundings. Breakfast is provided and is continental with loads of croissants, butter bread jam coffee fresh milk and juice, but without the hassle of having to queue with 100 other hotel guests! It is collected in "baskets" from a cabin at the entrance to your section of the park. Staff were friendly and helpful with very good English.
A car is essential as DLP is a short 10 min drive away but is very easy to find and free parking is provided.
DLP itself was excellent - if eating in the park, stick to Disney village where proper food is available as opposed to the burgers and pizza places.
The only parade worth watching is fantillusion, get there early to get a good view. Get to the parks early in the morning when its quiet and do all the rides you want to do first thing or when everyone else is watching a parade to help avoid queues. head back to the ranch for a rest in the afternoon and get back to park early evening when it is again a bit quieter. Be prepared for very tired children and sore feet!
The shows are well worth going to see ie; Tarzan, Buffalo Bills and the Lion King get there 45 mins early to get decent seats. The time soon passes.
In summary, couldn’t fault this holiday or the facilities. Would recommend it and Davy Crocketts to anyone. Better value for money and more suitable than the hotels for groups bigger than 2 adults and 2 children or for those adults who, like us, don’t want to spend every minute listening to Disney music and need a break from the Disney mania!
Finally a few tips:
1. Get there early!
2. Know before you get there what you want to see and do as it is impossible to fit everything in.
3. Be patient and fast pass the rides with large waiting times
4. See the shows - buffalo bills is a must!
5. Rainforest Cafe, Annette’s Diner and Planet Hollywood are the best places to eat.
6. Don’t stress, you’ll have a much better time.
Enjoy your holiday xxx

An absolutely fantastic holiday, the accommodation is beautiful and cabin has everything you could possibly need. We had a 2 bed cabin for 4 Adults and 2 Children and it was comfortable. The ranch is beautiful and had a lot to offer entertainment wise with a pool, park and much more. The characters visit in the day. Disney is a 5 minute drive, which is 1 stop on the motorway. I would recommend this to any one who wants Disney without all the hassle of a hotel, which to me all looked too big. I would avoid going again at a weekend as the Queues were about a 90 minute wait where as in the week they were about 30 minutes, and if you go to Disney Studios at the right time to see Actions Moteur... Don’t see it as you can get on the rides with no waiting times!! as everyone is seeing the show. The food and drink is expensive in the park but it was to be expected. Will be going again next year and will return the Davy Crockett.

We visited Disneyland Paris last...

Aug 2004, Mrs D Johnson

We visited Disneyland Paris last august with our 2 daughters aged 6 & 3 and stayed at the Davy Crocket Ranch.
As this was a mid summer holiday we thought we would all appreciate a bit more of the outdoor life that the ranch would offer. Although the log cabins are really only mobile homes with wood cladding, we found ours to be spacious for the 4 of us, much more space than you would get in a hotel room. Also it was clean and well equipped considering this is the cheapest Disneyland option.
The on site pool complex was super and never too busy to enjoy. The on-site restaurant was self-service with a good choice of meals. Breakfast is collected from a hut at the end of the road and eaten in your cabin, loads of French bread & croissants.
The main thing to bear in mind about the ranch is that is detached from Disneyland by about 5 miles and there is no shuttle bus service so is only suitable if you are visiting Disneyland by car.

My partner and I took our 2 daughters, aged 6 and 2, to Disney resort Paris for 5 nights in December 2003. We arrived on Friday evening and departed on Tuesday evening.
The accommodation was nothing like we expected.
It was in great need of updating - broken chairs, missing trim, rusty kitchen utensils. Not at all what was expected of a Disney resort. There were no instructions on how to use the grill/microwave/oven.
We feel brochure was misleading. The accommodation is described as a 'log cabin'. It’s a caravan with wood stuck on the outside, not a log cabin. The pictures shown in the brochure are very misleading as they make it look far more appealing than it actually is. We did not have the TV channels as advised in the brochure. The layout is not really suitable for families with toddlers. Our 2 year old hit her head several times on the table/counter. There are heaters in the hallway section, which is quite narrow, plus it was right by the coat hooks.
Staff in parks not very helpful. Queues too long - 90+ mins to go on 'Dumbo' ride (ride lasted just 60 seconds). No pushchairs in queues, so hard work holding a 2 year old for more than an hour and half. If put down, children can easily slip under barriers, not so easy for adults.
'Pass plus' tickets were not being offered on very busy rides, despite the queues. This option is not available on most normal rides.
The resort is not very organised. We had pre-booked a character breakfast but vouchers were not ready when we arrived. We were not told that you couldn’t get into Disney Park for breakfast so missed half of it trying to find a way in. The staff we asked to help us were basically useless.
At the end of the first day, our 6 yr old daughter shrugged her shoulders when asked if she’d had fun. Well, she’d only been able to get on 2 rides plus a walk round the maze in over 8 hours.
The food is outrageously overpriced for poor quality food that you need to queue for almost an hour to get (Casey’s hotdogs). The staff are miserable (I didn’t see one smile from a member of staff in Casey’s in more than 45 mins). And this was after 2.30 which is when they recommend you get your food.
One of the sandwich places, after queuing for over 30 mins, said they had run out when i reached the counter. How can they run out when that’s all they sell?!! Should there not have been a notice by the door/in the window?
Unless you get by the roadside at least an hour before parades start, you have no chance of seeing much. But then you have to watch out for the rude people that just come along as it starts and stand right in front of you (not Disney’s fault, admittedly, but very annoying none the less).
By the Sunday evening we wanted to come home. We were all so unhappy that we just couldn’t face staying any longer.
However we did stay. The weather improved and the park was far less busy on the Monday. This made it a far more enjoyable experience.
When you take away the bad stuff, the good stuff is really good.
The parades are fantastic, especially the nighttime ones. The fireworks displays are great. The rides are quite enjoyable (when you don’t have to queue). The characters are good, thrilling for the children. There is so much we didn’t have time to do/see. The snow along main street is a lovely touch - our 2 year old loved it as she had never seen snow before.
Recommendations - never go at a weekend. Be prepared for the weather. Try to take your own food with you. Be organised for parades. Try to arrive at park early and go straight to pass plus ticket machines. Have an idea of what you plan to do, don’t just wander aimlessly. Don’t stay at Davy Crockett ranch.
