Myself, my husband and our two...

Myself, my husband and our two children aged 3 and 4 stayed for 5 nights at the Davey Crockett Ranch and it was 5 nights too many.
Absolute disgust is the only way to describe this place.
Firstly it took an hour to check in.
We were allocated a caravan with exposed electrical wires?
We were allocated a caravan with no shutter?
We were allocated a caravan with broken shutters?
We were allocated a caravan with a broken tap?
We were allocated a caravan with broken cupboard handles?
We were allocated a caravan with little cutlery choice?
We were allocated a caravan with only one lounge chair.
We were allocated a caravan that was not fully equipped?
Both cabins were dirty.
A caravan had food on the floor from a previous guest.
The accommodation fell well below a basic standard?
The caravan failed to provide privacy.
Beds for us not made on arrival
The dampness was clear to see.
The wall paper was coming off the walls.
We also had ants continuously paying us visits over the kitchen work surface.
The sofa bed mattress was little over an inch thick
If you are thinking of allowing your children to stay here then please, please, please think again. It is not fit for human occupancy.
We stayed in two bungalows or cabins as DLP call them, or should I say caravans!!! Our first on loop H, Mocassin Trail and our second was on loop C, Cherokee Trail. Please also note that it took nearly 4 hours to get moved to another bungalow so we lost a day at the park. It is the most dirtiest place I have ever stayed in. If it was not for the children’s love of Mickey and Minnie, we would have left straight away.
DLP state that they carry out pre-inspection tests on all of their bungalows prior to your arrival. They also state that their safety and comfort is of their utmost priority. THIS IS CURRENTLY IN DISPUTE WITH THEM. For your reference, Stephane Larchett is the Director of the Davey Crockett Ranch.
Other area’s to note in the park. We saw very little of the Fast Pass system working correctly when we were there. It was breaking down on several rides during our 6 day trip which can ruin your plans for the day. The non fast pass riders were jumping queues into the fast pass lane on Big Thunder Mountain. Knock on effect is that you are queuing much longer than you should be. Also note that if you join towards the end of your 10 minute time slot for Big thunder mountain, you cannot get on and have to join the queue for the next 10 minute slot because you just cannot get through.
The restaurants are expensive and the food is cold. Beware also if you want to eat somewhere in particular as the restaurant can be closed as it was in our case. They do close restaurants according to the demand they expect at the park. Very strange because we went in the Easter Holidays which was very busy as we expected it to be but still restaurants closed. Beware also because we experienced them not opening at the time they say they should. For a meal it can take up to 20 minutes to get a table and then another 20 minutes before your food arrives. Try and think in advance - You have been warned.
Avoid booking the Character breakfast, lunch or Tea’s if you are on a budget as they can be expensive. It can be a complete waste of time if you only want that photo or video opportunity as you can easily get them around the park, especially if you are there for a few days. We were not really on a budget but we were thankful for previous advice and had many opportunities and got some great photo’s – Mickey, Buzz, Goofy, Pluto, Jessie and to name just a few.
If you want to meet Mickey and Minnie go to Disney studios, then you will get a much better chance.
We have officially made a complaint to Disney through Guest Communication on our arrival and since our return by written communication. We have so far had 2 responses from them offering freebies and a small monetary value which has all been declined. Their replies are so laughable. The Company itself even lives in the land of make believe. They have informed us that all their staff even attend a Disney University before working for them.
Beware: If you take a holiday here as you are not apparently covered under ABTA rulings. DLP is covered under a French governing body called APS which may delay matters if you have cause to complain.
Another thing is that if you take the car, no one, not even our Travel agent told us about the tolls on the French motorway. A return trip will cost around £28.00 in toll roads. It is just another added expense.
As soon as we came back I arranged a 2 day trip to Legoland, Windsor staying at the Hilton St. Annes Manor and it was much better option than the 6 days we had endured at DLP. If you have children under the age of 7 and have not been to Legoland – Give it a try. No complaints here other than to avoid school summer holidays as it can get rather busy. Go to www.legoland.co.uk. We have got in the past, 2 night’s accommodation with 3 days in the park for around £275.00. The staff here, are great with the kids too and there is plenty to do. We have had 5 trips in the last couple of years and will definitely have many more.
We also go to Flamingo land theme park near Malton in North Yorkshire and stay on working farms on the North Yorkshire Moors. This can be a real budget break if you get your theme park tickets using your deal vouchers from Tesco. A family of four will only pay around £22.00 for your day tickets in vouchers (£44.00 for two days / £66.00 for three days and so on). You can expect to pay between £50.00 and £75.00, in a family room on a working farm. You get a lovely welcome sometimes with home-made cakes and a great farmhouse breakfast thrown in too.
We do a similar thing going to Drayton Manor theme Park in Staffordshire and stay on an old working farm but expect to pay around £75.00 in this area for a family room.
The great thing about doing Flamingo land and Drayton Manor in this way is that once you have the tickets from Tesco all you need to do is wait for some sunny weather and then book your accommodation. You will get a great break with some fantastic sunshine and because it is a last minute decision it just adds to the excitement.
We have not yet been to Alton Towers, Chessington World of Adventures or Thorpe Park. They are our challenges to come and we will arrange these when the children get a little older.
Hope I have given you some alternative ideas and wish you happy breaks away with the kids whatever you decide to do.

Cant believe we were at the same...

Jun 2008, Mrs L Hughes

Cant believe we were at the same place reading other people's comments. We are just back & the accommodation was filthy. Worst we've ever stayed in. We were in the Timber Trail. We complained & were moved to a caravan(its not a lodge or a bungalow) next to the 1 we were in to start with. It was filthy as well. They smelt mouldy, were damp, had paper peeling off the walls, floor was dirty, cobwebs everywhere. No ants. Even the houskeeping women who came to look at it said it was unusuall for them to be like that(looked like they hadnt been cleaned for 15yrs). The one we slept in was supposed to be cleaned the next day but wasnt. So we complained again. We were told it would be done the next day but it wasnt. All they seem to do is change the beds & put new towels in. No actuall cleaning is done. We were there 3 nights & nothing was done to improve it. We took pics & video & are now gonna complain to Disney direct. The brkfast was fine but that was about it.
If you like us were on a budget think twice about Davy Crockett ranch. Especially the 1 bedroom accomm, it seems to be the worse. I would advise saving up for a bit longer & giving the Davy Crockett ranch a wide berth.
Disney parks are good but food is expensvie & it all seemed to be fast food. You can get your own food in as they are not that strict at the bag check area. Then just eat it outside somewhere. Buy your mini costumes before you go say at Matalan as they cost around £40 in the park which is a rip off.
Big queues for rides especially at wkends. Longest we stood was around 45mins for the Dumbo ride. To get our daughters pic taken with Cinderella we stood for 1 hour in the queue. We waited 15 mins for Mickey in Disney Studios so try there.
Take advantage of the extra 2hrs you can get if you stay in Disney Hotel but not Davy Crockett. Do your research before you go & it will save you time. unfortunately queues are unavoidable.

We've just got back from a fun filled...

We've just got back from a fun filled trip to Disney, staying at the Davy Crocket Ranch. We were 2 adults and 2 children aged 5 & 8 staying in one bedroom. The accommodation was adequate for our needs, we weren't expecting luxury. It was basic but clean with a great shower and plenty of hot water. I would recommend you take extras with you for the kitchen if you think you may use them such as a bottle opener/corkscrew, a decent knife, decent frying pan, tin opener, scissors, wooden spoon, charcoals & bbq tools, wine glasses (if like us you like a large one!) and tea towels. The fridge does have a small freezer section in so you can use small ice packs if you want to keep lunch or drinks cool. We did take time out of our day to use the picnic area outside the parks for lunch which my husband went back to the car for. It's not really that far and worth it if like us you are on a budget.
We took food from home and bought other stuff (mainly milk & meat for the bbq) from the Auchan supermarket which is a short drive away. We used the baguette from breakfast to make sandwiches for lunch and made sure we had lots of drinks and snacks for our days in the parks. Food and drinks are fairly expensive in the parks. We did have ice creams which were 3 euros each! If you do go during the summer months and want to sit outside your ranch in the evenings i recommend you take citronella candles with you. As the ranches are set in woodland (which is very peaceful and private) there are a lot of mozzy's around! Outside seating is a picnic table and obviously not that comfy so we took a couple of folding camping chairs with us. Perfect after exhausting days in the park to drink the wine we bought from Majestic in Calais!
One important thing to note is that access to the Ranch is off junction 13 of the A4 and not 14 which is where the other hotels and Disneyland is. Follow signs to Serris from where you will pick up signs for Davy Crocket Ranch. Check in is quick and efficient. We didn't use any of the other facilities at the Ranch except for the swimming pool which was very nice. Although the water was a bit cool for my liking (i am a big girly!), it didn't seem to bother the kids. They're favourite part was the water slide which they went on again and again. We took our own beach towels to use but you can hire them if you want.
Days in the parks are very tiring and if like us you have a younger child who doesn't normally use a pushchair i would recommend you hire a stroller from the park for 7.50 euros a day. They are very substantial and would be ok for kids of any age really. I even saw Dad's resting in them by the side of rides! Another recommendation would be for your child to take their heely's if they have some. That way you can drag them around when they get tired! The french don't appear to have seen heely's before so my son attracted a lot of attention in his!
One major piece of advice i would have for you if you haven't already booked your trip is to NOT go at the weekend. We had three full days Wed - Fri (not during French or our school holidays) and didn't have to queue much. One of the most popular rides we found was Crush's rollercoaster which we did have to queue approx 45 mins for but for most of the others it was approx 20 mins. Some of the rides such as the Aerosmith Rollercoaster (my favourite), Hollywood Tower Hotel and Space Mountain we waited no more than 5-10 minutues for! We travelled home on Saturday morning but before we left used the extra magic hrs from 8-10am to go back into Fantasyland and Discoveryland (these were the only areas open during extra magic hours). When we were leaving the parks at 10.00am, there was a distinct difference in the number of people going into the parks compared to the previous 3 days. We were extremely glad to be walking in the opposite direction! It's well worth getting up early to use the extra magic hours. We did it 2 mornings out of 4.
We split our 3 days up as follows which we found worked really well and enabled us to do everything we wanted to do. On our first day we did Fantasyland and Discoveryland. On the second we did Adventureland and Frontierland and on our third we did Walt Disney Studios. If you do it this way you can best use the fastpass system and not be too far away from the rides when it's your allocated time to return.
The park guides you pick up at the entrances are very informative showing you where everything is and there are also information boards ('i' on the guides) which tell you at any one time what the waiting times are on all the rides and attractions. I recommend you pick up several guides at at time because you end up opening and closing them so many times that they rip.
If you're children love dressing up in their disney outfits, take them with you. Our kids wore their Belle and Jack Sparrow outfits which attracted special attention for them from Captain Hook and Belle during the Once Upon a Dream Parade. The parade is fab but you have to get your spot early. It started at 4pm but by 3.30 all the streetside spots had been taken so i would imagine you need to start staking out your pitch from about 3pm. One good tip is to stand on Central Plaza facing Sleeping Beauty's castle. That way you'll get the castle in the background of all your photo's. It happened purely by accident for us but it's made the photo's brilliant.
I really hope that this info helps and that you have a fab time!

May 2008, Mrs SR Sabrina

After reading several reviews that stated cabins had mold everywhere and were damp I was really worried. But when we arrived I was very pleased to see there was no such thing. We stayed in 6 person bungalow for the weekend. The "cabin" was very clean. There was very little mold under a cracked seal in the bathroom. Nothing I would worry about (I did bring bleach though ;-) ). It hat a few heaters and screens for the windows. Every morning breakfast had to be picked up at a hut at the end of the road. It included, a baguette, a few brioches, croissants, a liter of milk, with powder for chocolate milk and coffee. We were there with 2 adults and 3 children and had plenty. The bungalow also had a stove, BBQ grill, a fridge and even a dishwasher. Perfect for families. Unfortunately we didn't have enough time to check out all of what the davyy crockett ranch had to offer, but we did go to the pool and it was amazing! We already decided to go back and stay at the Ranch again.

Just came back from Eurodisney with...

Just came back from Eurodisney with my parents and my two little sisters. Describe it one word? Amazing.
THE DAVY CROCKETT RANCH
Our cabin was excellent. It was more a mini-bungalow with wooden cladding(as stated in previous reviews), but was very cosy. When we got there, it was clean and had all the basic things except for a corkscrew which my parents seemed to be missing more than anything else...
You collect your breakfast at the end of your trail from a little hut. We received five crossiants, five rolls and a one baguette and a half. It is in a little cardboard basket, much like the boxes you get containing your 'Happy Meal' at McDonalds, except there are Disney characters illustrated all over it.
The only real downside is that you really need a car, unless you want to walk over a mile from reception to your cabin, and then another to the big park complex.
The pool looked really good but we didn't have the time or the energy to go there. The shop seems to stock more souvenirs than basic things, e.g food.
THE DISNEYLAND PARK
Rides you must go on are:
Big Thunder Mountain - A great ride for all of the family and not too fast.
Indiana Jones Temple of Peril - An exhilirating ride for older kids and adults.
Space Mountain - An amazing ride, although make sure you DON'T go at the back,
because your head gets really bashed around...And I mean that!
Buzz Lightyear - Really good, you shoot targets with your laser gun, and get a score at
the end...my best one was 158,000. Beat that!
Star Tours - A simulator that simulates going to the moon with the cast of Star Wars.
Phantom Manor - It's meant to be spooky but it isn't really. The effects are superb.
Pirates of the Caribbean - Really good, as realistic as a pirate ride can get really.
Small World - Apparently you HAVE to go on this one if you go to Disneyland. The tune
gets in your head and you sing it non stop for the next fifty years but it's
O.K.
We must have walked at least 10 miles each day, so I'm just warning you that your feet will drop off. The queues to meet the characters are ridiculous though. We managed to meet of the few minor characters though. All the attention to detail was outstanding.
WALT DISNEY STUDIOS
Rides you must go on are:
The Twilight Zone Tower Of Terror - Again the attention to detail was really outstanding.
The gist of the story is that around 1939, a bolt of
lightning struck the Hollywood Tower Hotel, and
everybody disappeared into the 'Twilight Zone'.
You drop thirteen floors. It was really exhilirating
and it was my favourite ride in the whole Parks.
Studio Tram Tours - It shows you how they make special and physical
effects and shows you a new scene from a new film,
'Castrophic Canyon'.
Aerosmith Rock N Roll Coaster - Great music, great rollercoaster. You
listen to Aerosmith music while you're on it!
Crush Coaster - We join Nemo and friends for Crush Coaster. A great ride, you
whizz underwater(not literally). The queuing time was ridiculious,
60 mins at one point.
Walt Disney Studios isn't that big so you don't walk round as much. It's great though so please go there!! You must see the High School Musical show as well if you've got fans of HSM in your family.
Davy Crockett Ranch was excellent and I would definitely advise you to go there. It's only ten minutes away from Disneyland as well. You definitely need a car though if you are going to stay there.
Disneyland is brilliant as well. I hope everybody who reads this review has a good time in Disney...

Apr 2008, Mrs J McIlroy

Just arrived home last week from 5 days in the Davy Crockett Ranch, Paris. First impression outside was good as i read some reviews before i left and knew it was a caravan in cladding!! We stayed in a 1 bedroomed cabin and there was 4 adults and three kids. Me and my husband was on the sofa bed which was like a brick. There was a few ants which you have to expect being in the woods so dont leave food out. But overall it was basic but great as a base and had a lot more space than a small hotel room would have. The shop and saloon bar is really expensive but the indoor pool is fantastic, great size, clean and has three jacuzzi's. Had to call housekeeping on a couple of occasions for more towels / pillows but there was no problem, and where delivered promply to our door. Overall i had a great time and Disneyland was brill!! It's not complete luxury but for me the pool and the extra space a cabin has totally makes up for it....

The Ranch Just returned from a trip...
8 / 10
Mar 2008, Mrs Y Linssen

1 reader found this review helpful

The Ranch
Just returned from a trip to Disneyland, Paris. Stayed with family of five including three boys - 11, 8,7 - at the Davy Crockett Ranch.
We were really satisfied with our accomodation. Spacious caravans (we had a two-bedroom caravan), beds ready for us with fresh, clean bedlinen and good matresses.
Enough towels, television in perfect working order i.e. all the channels listed available, enough kitchen utensils, hot water shower with decent waterpressure, microwave, dishwasher and a two hob stove on which my husband managed to cook two gourmet dinners!
True, you do have to have a sweet tooth for breakfast, only jam , honey and nutella in the disney hampers you get for breakfast in the morning. But enough bread and good croissants, though our family did not really care for the soft rolls that were also included. Milk, nesquick and orange juice completed the breakfast and it suited us just fine. We brought some things from home and also went shopping one night at the huge Auchan in Val d' Europe nearby, so we could add cornflakes, sausages and cheese to our breakfast and lunchbags, which we prepared for our days in the park.
The Ranch is very big with a huge number of caravans, but there is lots of room between the caravans and they are situated in fairly dense woodland, so you have a lot of privacy. The trees were still bare in this time of year, but I imagine it must be beautiful in spring and summertime. Still, we awoke to the sound of birds singing, very relaxing and a welcome diversion from the disney tunes.
Staff polite and helpful, although we have no experience with staff at the swimmingpool or restaurant and pub, we simply did not have the time (or stamina) left to go there and were very content to have a glass of wine in our own caravan and play rummikub with the kids.
We were there for three nights and felt very much at home. Only negative point about the caravan was that the bath deserved a better cleaning job but still nothing to run away from. And oh yes, we did have some red ants visiting us in the kitchen area, but being in the woods this was no big surprise.
The parks
We started with disneypark on friday and had a flying start with two rides at spacemountain within ten minutes. From that point on, everything went fast and smooth with hardly any waiting time at the rides. By 16.00 hrs, we had crossed off all the things we wanted to see and do in the five ' lands' and were ready for the big parade. We were really surprised ourselves because of course everybody had warned us that waiting times could be as long as 100 minutes! So after the parade we went to the other park, the walt disnes studios, and managed to get in Armageddon, the Hollywood Tower Hotel and the Aerosmith roller coaster within the hour. And still we dit everything at our leisure!
The saturday and sunday were most certainly busier, but with the excellent fast pass system we still managed to do everything we wanted, and some rides several times. On sunday, we only had The Crush Coaster left (as it broke down the previous day) and we made a beeline for that one first thing in the morning. True, after that you could not get in without waiting at least 75 to 100 minutes...
Another excellent thing was the baby switch, as our youngest son does not like rollercoasters. You wait near the boarding site while your familymembers are in the ride, and after the ride you swtich. No additional waiting times and you often get the best seats as you are allowed to get in first (and often one of the other kids may also go again together with an adult)!
Absolute favorites:
The Hollywood Tower Hotel (disney studio)
The Crush Coaster (disney studio)
The Action motors stunt show (disney studio)
Cinemagique and Animagique (disney studio)
Space mountain (disney park)
The parade (disney park)
Main street (disney park)
Our best advice: do not go during holiday seasons! In our opinion, no ride is worth more than 30 - 45 minutes of waiting time. We had the good fortune to wait an average of 10 - 15 minutes and in this way, you keep enjoying your visit.
Prices of food and beverages in the parks are absolutely ridiculous. Luckely, our kids decided themselves that € 2.60 for 50 ml of coke or € 3 for a cornetto cone is preposterous. Fill your rucksacks with fruit, cookies and sandwiches (and beverages) and you have an excellent day! In some restaurants, like the cowboy restaurant in Frontierland, you could get menus for €10 and chips only for € 2.50, so no need to despair if you really want to get some hot food inside. We tried it, and also enjoyed the atmosphere with a live band playing.
One last tip: buy the gambas at the Auchan supermarket in Val d' Europe!
Have fun and be prepared for French lessons, because according to the French, Walt Disney is as french as the Eiffel Tower!

Stayed at the Davey Crockett resort...
7 / 10
Feb 2008, Mr M S Kiernan

Stayed at the Davey Crockett resort with a 6 and a 4 year old. Kids loved it, and a real 'adventure extension' to being in Disney all day.
Basic but clean accomodation, breakfast well run from the hut outside our door. As stated before, the cabins are caravans with wooden cladding, but it's comfortable and acts as a good base.
But advance warning, if you get back early evening and want to unwind in front of the telly, the TV channels are diabolical, and you only get the news channel, which after half an hour of 'looped' news, gets pretty terminal. So take a portable DVD player, otherwise you'll go insane.
Good pool, but the hygiene wasn't great, and the attendants aren't, if you get my drift, so watch the kids like a hawk.
The shop seems bizarrely full of tat merchandise and a real lack of basics, like toiletries, and washing gear.
The buffet on site isn't 4 star, but lots of it, (all you can eat for about £15).
There is a very odd serving system where one member of staff takes your order, pours your drinks, and takes your money, simultaneously, which causes a very large queue at peak time serving, around 6 - 6.30.
So get there really early or go after 7.30.
Apart from that, a really safe feeling place, and recommended.

Stayed for 4 nights 5 days in half...
9 / 10
Feb 2008, Mrs JS Wheatley

Stayed for 4 nights 5 days in half term.
Very happy with accomodation, clean, roomy and warm (we had five in a two bedroomed), only grumble is lack of cooker and basic utensiles, suggest you take a teatowel and tinopener as mentioned. Disney are not encouraging you to cook for obvious reasons, but it will save you a fortune! Why they give you a dishwasher is beyond me!!!!
We were also placed too far to walk to facilities, ie shop, pool, tavern and restaurant. We don't mind walking as a family but the road is badly lit with no path, and after 10 hours in the park the kids wouldn't have done it! I am sure we could have negotiated either at booking or check in, a cabin nearer had we known, so try it!
Shop is well equiped but VERY expensive, suggest you bring stuff with you or shop in Val d'Europe, big shopping complex about 10 mins down the road.
Breakfast is more than adequate and as already written we used the bread for lunch filled with ham and cheese and brought frites in the parc.
The parc is fantastic but for eating and drinking is expensive. We were on a tightish budget, a coke cost 2 EUROS 60 and average icecream 3.50, we took in all we could and ate on the whole back at Davey Crocketts.
Tips in the parc!
Try and go at the beginning of the week, we were there from Tues to Sat. On thurs it became very busy and by Friday almost pointless! We did most of both parcs by Thursday and on Friday went back to things we wanted to do again, but only used the fast passes.
Fast passes are free and let you jump huge sections of the queue. You put your entry ticket into a machine at the side of your choosen ride. A fast pass is issued. It gives you a half hour time slot to return in. You can only have one fast pass at a time, but can get another one for another ride when the previous slot starts. So get your fast pass, choose what you want to go on next when the time slot starts for the one you already have, get a fast pass for the next one. You only have half an hour to get back which can be tight in different lands but if you choose carefully it works brilliantly!!!!

We stayed at the Davy Crockett Ranch...
9 / 10
Jan 2008, Mr D Naylor

We stayed at the Davy Crockett Ranch for the first time this week. When we arrived after a leisurly drive down to Paris we were allocated a cabin. We moved in and unpacked only to find the floor was wet and rthere was a leak somewhere. I reported this and almost immediatly an engineer was in our cabin looking at it and recommended we be moved. I went and collected another key and moved cabins. Unfortunately this can was filled with the smell of cigar smoke which was unpleasent, especilaay when you have young children and an asmatic wife. I went to see reception who told me to wait at the cabin and she would personally get us a cabin. A few minutes later she arrived with a new key and we moved cabins. This cabin was excellent. Spacious, 2 bedrooms, small kitchen facilities, bathroom with bath/shower and living space. Great to relax in after a tiring day around the parks. There was a parking spave in front, a picnic table and BBQ outside (a bit to chilly to test the barbie though!!)
The site is well maintained and has a lot to offer. There is a gift shop which is full of disney stuff plus a small supermarket selling fresh fruit and veg, drinks, beer, meats, dry goods and more which is excellent.
Breakfast is collected each morning from the Breakfast cottage at the front of your cabin site.
For a family of 2 adults, 1 child (4 yr old) and 1 baby (18 mths) it consisted of a large baguette, 6 croissants, 1-2 brioche buns, milk, tea, coffee, preserves, hot choc and orange juice. It was enough for us!!!! It was great to collect in the morning with my daughter ( there was no queue to collect it at 7.45am!!) and then we sat having a relaxed breakfast before we entered the park.
They said the park is 15 mins drive away but this was more like 10. Parking was hassle free and easy. There is a service station on the way out and pertol (unleaded) was the cheapest I had seen on our trip to do fill up if you need to.
The park also has a great looking pool facility which we didn't use as well as other activities for the family/kids.
We dined at the site restaurant which was an all you can eat buffet. This was reasonably priced and my 18 month ate for free. It had a good range of choices and even Donald duck and Goofy visited us!!
The bar looks small but was comfortable at this time of year. It may be very busy in the summer though.
Overall a very pleasant ranch with good staff, excellent facilites and open country.
Even though we had some problems at the beginning, they were dealt with quickly and efficiently so don't let this put you off.
We will definately be returning next year.

Oh yes!! This was GREAT!! We had originally intended to just explore France under our own steam, and a tent. Having a three year old with us didnt daunt us and all was going swimmingly...........until the rains came! It rained so much we had to change our plans and look for somewhere with a solid roof to stay. We came across Davey Crocket Ranch in Disneyland Paris. The staff were really helpful and friendly and didnt make fun of my rubbish French! Just turning up like that I didnt expect to be found somewhere but they had a lovely log cabin for us, at a quarter of the price it would have cost if we had booked from the UK. We parked the car just outside the cabin, which had its own BBQ. We were in a little wooded area that was so peaceful. The cabin itself was gorgeous with a big bedroom and two pull down beds. We had TV and cd player and were a short walk away from the on site facilities, which included a great karaoke bar, heated swimming pool and shops. We hired a four wheeled bike that we all fitted on (there is probably a name for these!) and toured the site finding some great teepees and a wolf inclosure! Breakfast the next morning was served from a little wooden hut a short walk away. You get given a box for each of you which contains a filling continental breakfast. I so enjoyed this stay, I would recommend it to anyone.

Just returned from a 5 day/4 night...
10 / 10
Dec 2007, Mrs S Beaven

Just returned from a 5 day/4 night stay at the Davy Crockett Ranch. We are 2 adults & 3 children of 7/6 & 3. Absolutely fantastic time was had by all & we all left totally in love with Disney.
We had a 2 bedroom cabin to stay in & this was a perfect base for us as we were up early, back late & crashing straight to sleep! All kitchen items & bathroom & bed linens were clean & tidy. Water was hot, shower strong, heaters working! We took hot water bottles with us too for the children. There are no extra blankets on the beds although these probably could be asked for; we took our own though. Ample storage space in the bedrooms but most of our clothing were fleeces & trousers so we kept our bags packed & took out what we needed as & when. If you need to hang items up, take some extra hangers.
Our fridge was a full size under counter type with a little freezer space. This was large enough to store all our cold items for a family of 5 for 5 days. We bought loads of bits over with us due to our 3 young children. We didn’t want them eating chips each day. Each day you collect your breakfast from the little cabin at the end of your lane. For a family of 5 we received 1.5 long baguettes, 10 croissants, large carton of milk & another of orange juice, 5 cheeses, 5 milkshake sachets, and small butter, jam, nuttela & honey pots. We ate the croissants for breakfast & as it was so generous, we made rolls for lunch with cheese & ham from home, with yoghurts, fruit & veg from home.
One night we went to Buffalo Bills Wild West Show which included dinner. Was expensive - about 280 euros for us 5 but was a brilliant show. Only downer was that the children were all so enthralled with the show, they didn’t eat any dinner!
We also ate at Cafe Mickey which is best to pre-book at the reception of Davy Crockett. This was one of the highlights for the children. During the meal in came Mickey, Pluto, Eeyore, Mr Smee, Captain Hook, Minnie to name a few. So the children got more autographs & photos that they may have missed around the park. That meal cost about 140 euros which included 2 starters, 2 adult mains, 3 children mains, 1 dessert, 2 lagers, 1 cocktail (!), 3 child desserts & 3 cokes. Money well spent just for the children's faces when the characters came & sat at their table.
As for the Disney Parks themselves. WOW! Absolutely breathtaking. On our first night, we stood by the Christmas Tree in Main Square so we could see all the way down Main Street to the castle & the children were amazed when Tinkerbelle made it snow ! That's Magic!
We got on many rides within 30 minutes too. Lots less than that. Pirates of Caribbean boat ride was great but terrifying for our 6 year old as it is a bit creepy so be warned if you have a child with terrific imagination ! The Lightening ride is an absolute must for preschoolers. Crush's Coast was pretty scary for some children as parts of it are in the dark, goes backwards & drops - my 7 year old wanted to go on again, but not me!
Maybe it was the time of year (or we just got lucky!) but all Disney staff were polite & nothing seemed to be too much trouble. If anything, it was some of the other tourists who were rude & grumpy. Maybe the Magic hadn’t got to them yet!
No negatives at all. Few points to consider though. Definitely worth taking food from home, especially if you do have young children & you want them to eat veg & fruit. It didn’t take long each morning to prepare healthy snacks to take with us each day. Prebook any meals in restaurants.
Loads of merchandise for sale - beware & it is the same price throughout so no cheaper in another store. We bought the Disney dresses here & gave them to our children there - worked just as well but loads cheaper!
Don’t forget the tolls like we did. 20 Euros each way if driving from Calais.
It was brilliant & everything we wanted & more. We are already talking about next Xmas there !!
