" Nice location excellent pool bar staff. "

Went in August/September, first impression was how spacious the apartment was, a bit of minor maintenance needed but I am assured things would change for 2010. The location was great, not too far , not to near to the main shopping street and almost on the beach. The nearest beach is shingle but walk in either direction on leaving the complex and you`ll find some lovely beaches. The one thing that makes most holidays memorable is the people you meet and the two outstanding ones were Lorraine and Jenny who worked behind the pool bar.Jenny is a lovely Irish girl who was a mine of information as to where to go ,how much the bus fares were etc. Lorraine served us our lovely breakfasts(very reasonable too), she was always pleasant with a great sense of humour, just the sort of person you need on your holidays! She works like a Trojan but never without a smile. The pool area itself is nice and clean and the whole complex has lovely flowers and greenery all around: great place to relax. I must mention the restaurant just outside the Kaissa, the food is great and the location on the sea front is perfect, but the staff are crazy! T hey gave us the best laughs we`ve had in a long time. The restaurant is called the New Xylino, give it a try and I promise you`ll make many return visits, great music on Greek nights too. The Kaissa is a perfect place to explore Crete from the transport is cheap and more regular than most English routes. Great holiday, have just booked again! P.S. Please enquire about the new animal shelter in Gouves and give support if you can.

Advice: Lovely place, nice beaches, good place to relax, shop,be entertained or get very very fat!

Activities: Good food everywhere(but please try the New Xylino)Use the local buses to explore Crete.

" It's your Holiday...You make it ! "

There isn't an awful lot more one can add to the reviews that have gone before this one, other than to ask just exactly what were some of the reviewers expecting from a 2 star accommodation (herds of wilderbeeste sweeping majestically across the plain !!)
It really is a bit of hit and miss place though...the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff is boardering on brilliant (take a bow Lorainne and Jenny you really are stars !!)...the cleanliness, ummh, not so hot...but then you are self catering so perhaps a bit of self-help and clean some of your own mess...you made it-you clean it wouldn't go a miss...towels dirty ? simply ask (dont throw a tantrum !) the cleaners for some clean ones....in the words of the Meercats...Simples !!
Would I recommend it ??...Yes ! Would I rush back...perhaps not.
But please remember the old saying...a holiday is what you make it...don't expect someone else to make it for you...leave the "I paid for this holiday" attitude behind and you'll enjoy it and this accommodation will see you right

" Great! "

There are very mixed reviews. Here are our personal findings:
Staff friendliness 5 star (Lorraine, Jenny and Stavrula)
Location 4 star (if you want a quiet resort with just enough to do in the evening)
Our appartment was in a prime position, overlooking the pool and sea. The appartment was clean, but basic (no grill or toaster). Sheets and towels and cleaning done 3 times over our 10 day stay.
The toilet leaked..,.,We were told at first that we had flooded the shower, but it was later admitted that they knew about the leak, and couldnt repair it as it was a prime site with no time to repair between lets!!! Give them their due, we were given the oportunity to move, but the appartment was in such a prime position, we could allow our teenage daughter some freedom, whilst being able to watch her every move! We decided to keep the appartment and were given extra towels to keep up with the flow!
I have heard that the complex is to be taken over in October with a view to updating and refurbishment.I would definitely stay again, and recommend the complex. Everyone we spoke to at the time of our stay were very pleased to stay here!!!

Advice: Quiet, but great for families

Activities: Jeep safari, Spinalonga

" the truth. "

Just returned from Kaissa Beach, went for a week. Couldnt disagree more with the comments that have already been posted.
The location was fine, on arrival we thought it was stunning & it was only a short walk from the main street, however this is not somewhere to go if you like a lively night, the main street was quiet. There are restaurants on the sea front, just opposite Kaissa which are very nice but a bit more pricey than the ones further towards the main street. I would recommend going to Dimitris on the main street as the food in there is lovely & is very reasonably priced, also the chinese's + the chilli lounge indian are beautiful.
I was very dissapointed with Kaissa Beach resort, the room was very basic, but dirty & needed a good refurb. Many families in Kaissa had been moved due to the fact there rooms were dirty, things were broken, showers were leaking into rooms below. I find the pictures we were shown misleading to, the restaurant shown is infact an empty room with old tables and chairs stacked up and old bottles of wine + water.
Our room was cleaned once in a week, we were told that our towels and bedsheets would be changed every 3 days. We had to sleep on the same sheets for 7 nights, The room we had was dirty + the maids wouldnt even clean around, they would mop the floor, but the surfaces were thick in dust, and when we arrived we found sick in our kitchen sink. The bathroom absolutely disgusting, the shower had a mind of it's own + it was not clean at all. The bedroom was okay. 2 beds put together, curtains full of paint and a whole in the shutter. The aircon, (only in the bedroom) was good, you had to pay for it but it really did the job. We enjoyed eveyrthing about our holiday except for the room.
The staff working in the Kaissa are very good though, Lorraine+Jenny on the poolbar are very nice girls + very helpful to. & The food from the pool bar is really lovely to. The English breakfasts are really good value for money and we had it near enough everyday. The receptionist Stavrula was really nice to helping with anything she could. The pool was nice and not to small. Those girls really are stars.
It is a shame that the room was in the condition it was because otherwise it would of been an amazing holiday.

Advice: quiet but nice.

" enjoyable holiday at KAISSA "

Good location near to the beach and also close to the town centre. The complex was clean and tidy and the staff were very friendly. The pool is the focal point of the complex with its own bar, it is suitable for all ages. The rooms are clean but in need of modernisation but not to the extreme that it would spoil your holiday. The rooms are cleaned every three days and linen and towels changed too.The area in which Kaissa beach apartments is situated is directly across the road from the sea via pebbled beach.A short walk to the left or right brings you to sandy beaches and a little harbour.A good day out for all the family is the aquarium which is a good walk along the seafront or 8 euros in a taxi. The restuarants are pretty much the same price as each other although the ones with seafront seating charge a little bit more for the setting. For families with children under 8 years old we recommend the restuarant up in the town called the atlantis as the kids eat free.

Advice: we would definately go back there

" Excellent Value, Fantastic Service "

Just a few lines to say 'Thanks for a great holiday' to all at Kaissa Beach. The staff were so friendly & helpful, we didnt have anything to complain about at all. Stavarula made us very welcome from the minute we arrived & the staff at the bar were great. Both Lorraine(Daytime) & Jenny(Evenings) made us feel at home. All in all it was a very peaceful, relaxing 2 weeks. I agree with others that the BBQ was very good value for money, at only 15 euro's each, there was a great selection of Greek cuisine(Meats, Salads & Veg). Even the area around the pool was kept clean & tidy along with the rooms. The Linen & towels were clean, although well used, but they were changed 5 times through the two weeks. Also the two maids came in to mop our floors & changed the bins every other day(what excellent service). Also have to mention that we made some new friends while staying there, Jen & Mark, had a great laugh with you both, pity you only had the 1 week with us but it was a good one. Will definately consider returning in the future.

Advice: Quaint,Relaxing,Clean & Friendly

Activities: Day out at Spinalonga

" Highly Recommend "

June - July 2009
Myself and my husband have just returned from Kiassa Beach in Gouves and would highly recommend. Gouves as a resort is stunning, beautiful beaches and Tavernier’s, with a good selection of bars and shops. The tavernier’s on the beach front are particularly magical. Food is lovely, though can be a little pricey, but the views make up for that. Kiassa beach itself is very friendly, the apartments big enough and fairly clean, we had some great times with Jenny who runs the bar in the evenings. All in all a fantastic 2 week break, and we are hoping to return in September.
Tracey from Cambridge

Advice: Stunning Resort

" our brilliant holiday "

We chose to go back to this faboulos holiday destination purely because of the great time we had with Jenny and Debbie pool bar staff last year.We had a few hiccups with cleanliness of rooms and state of towels but chose to ignore that because we had had such a good time. How glad we were we did we were welcomed once again by the lovely Stavrula the manageress. We were pleasantly suprised that the issues we had had last year had been rectified and everything was spot on,the only thing was no Jenny or Debbie even though we were very dissapointed a nice lady called Chris was doing nights and a lovely lady called Lorraine was our daytime helper.Three days into our hols Jenny came back and the fun began ha ha we also was thrilled that Debbie took the time to come and see us and we had a brill time. All in all The Kaissa is a most fantastic place with so much help given to us me disabled and mark on crutches after an accident also disabled we must have looked a right pair but everyone was marvellous the waiters at the beachside taverna the staff and the wonderful people that we met especially Sue and Ian manythanks and of course my little irish Jenny and of course Debs who we greatly missed cant wait to come back.ps do go to bbcue if get chance 15 euros worth every penny absolutely fantastic.

Advice: beautiful place not too busy

" kaissa beach apts "

Just read reviews for kaissa beach-some people are hard to please!! We have stayed there 4 times twice in 2008 and are booked again for may this year we love it. If you want 5 star luxury go to Dubai. All the staff at Kaissa are very helpful and friendly I hope Debbie and Jennie are still working there this year. Only thing I would say is that new towels in apts would be appreciated other than that no complaints great place for a relaxing holiday. see you in May !

The Kaissa apartments were wonderful. The staff were very friendly and the rooms were clean and spacious. Overall Gouves was a great place to visit and would love to go back someday. " When we arrived late evening we were... "

When we arrived late evening we were greeted with a friendly reception and given our keys. Our room was small and basic and in need of updating but clean, bathroom was in need of refurbishment, but OK. The apartments are set out very well and are in quite a pretty setting, the pool area was lovely with a nice pool bar, where you can eat as well. Everyone working there were very friendly and helpful. The location is excellent with the apartments right on the sea front and a very good selection of tavernas. We thought the best beaches were as you come out turn right and follow the road past the lovely little church and just beyond are lovely beaches, and if you carry on walking some lovely places to eat. On the whole we had a very nice holiday and would recommend Gouves to anyone wanting a relaxing holiday.

" We have just spent 2 weeks at the... "

We have just spent 2 weeks at the Kaissa Beach Apartments. Rooms small but adequate. Ours had a separate bedroom with 2 single beds and the seats in the living area doubled up as another 2 single beds. The aircon and safe deposit box was quite expensive at 100€ for 2 weeks. The kitchen facilities were less than basic. Very limited utensils with NO TOASTER, no oven or grill. Bathroom not very clean. Towels left for several days before being changed. The toilet paper bin is also left for several days before being emptied. I was told about this on my first day therefore we made a decision not to use it. Despite the notice, all our toilet paper went down the toilet. After hearing all the smelly horror stories, I'm glad we made that decision! Apartments set in quite attractive grounds, pool area nice with plenty of sunbeds and parasols. Generally a nice quiet place for families (if you don't mind the low flying planes every 5 minutes, day and night), but be warned, the management do allow big gangs of same sex groups to use the apartments. We were enjoying a nice relaxing holiday until about 10 young lads from Ireland all checked in. Their presence was quite intimidating for the children, and a lot of people lost a lot of sleep through their all night partying! The beaches outside the apartments are pebbled. A 5 minute stroll either way will take you to the nice sandy beaches. The high street is also approx. 5 minutes from the apartments. Lots of shops, bars and restaurants, but everything is so very expensive. No cheap bargains in Gouves, beer approx. 3€-4€. We did have a great holiday staying at the Kaissa, but we will not be going back.

" We have recently returned from the... "

We have recently returned from the Kaissa Beach. On arrival we were met by Jenny at 1.30 in the morning, she was very helpful and settled us in to our apartment. The apartment was typically Greek,it needed updating and brightening up.The water in the kitchen only trickled out of the tap and although the fridge was efficient it was held together with rust,it hadn't been de-frosted from previous guests so we couldn't put anything in it.The apartment was swept and mopped only twice in three weeks. We had to empty the toilet bin and kitchen bin ourselves and was only emptied 3 times by the maids. The linen and towels need to be re-placed. The sheets had huge rips in them and the towels were threadbare. The air con. and safe were expensive to hire but necessary. On the plus side,Debbie ,who ran the pool-side bar,was great.A very cheerful lady with a good sense of humour. The fry-ups were delicious. The Kaissa is very near to the beach and was lovely and quiet. There are some very good tavernas nearby. The Filoxenia is family run and the food is excellent. The Chinese in the side street is also very good but everything is expensive,4 euros for a beer and 2 euros for a Fanta. The average price for an evening meal with a starter and main course as about 45 euros for 2 people.Gouves is a lovely place and we would go there again but we would not stay at the Kaissa Beach.

" We booked online through hotels 4 u... "

We booked online through hotels 4 u and to be honest it was much easier than throughany touer operator. the concept allows you freedom to enjoy your holiday and they dont pressure you with excursions.
The apts are what you expect and want from a greek style holiday ,..basic functional and clean, although a unnammed accommodation last minute booking by a group of irish lads on a mission took up more time than necessary for our cleaners, but a concderrted effort by "Rula" on reception and the cleaners kept things running as best as possible.
The bars are run by Debbie in the daytime and Jennie in the evening. Michelalis will tempt you with local cuisine in the attached seafront resteraunt and they dont dissapoint with flavour, (discount on your first night).
All the staff work hard here, they are outnumbered by the clientelle and unfortunatly sometimes its too much but dont worry..they are a great bunch who will ensure a great holiday.
The Apts are ideally located between Gouves bay and Gouves centre. 15 mins stroll either way will provide you with shelving sand beaches and tavernas.
Also dont forget to try "Davinci resteraunt" in Gouves bay.
Thank you to all at Kaissa beach. We really enjoyed our stay. even the little time We stayed in the pool.
Love to all
Simon, Becky, and Adam.
